Planned roadworks in the East Midlands: weekly summary for Monday 22 to Sunday 28 June 2015

The following summary of planned new and ongoing road improvements over the coming week is correct as of 19 June 2015 but could be subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances. All our improvement work is carried out with the aim of causing as little disruption as possible.

M1 junction 15 to 19, Northamptonshire: smart motorway preparatory work

Until summer 2015, there will be various restrictions in place to allow for the construction of a reinforced concrete barrier in the central reserve. These include speed restrictions, narrow lanes and hard shoulder running.

From Monday 22 to Sunday 28 June between 9pm and 6am, there will be lane closures both northbound and southbound between junction 17 to junction 18 as well as between junction 15 and junction 15A.

M1 junction 24/A50 Approach Economy Scheme

There will be no closures or daytime works this week.

A453 major improvement scheme

Monday 22 June, the A453 westbound will be closed between Mill Hill roundabout and M1 junction 24 from 8pm to 5.30am.

Monday 22 June, West Leake junction’s westbound entry slip road will be closed from 1pm to 8pm.

Tuesday 23 June, A453 eastbound will be closed between M1 junction 24 and Mill Hill roundabout from 8pm to 5.30am.

Tuesday 23 June, West Leake junction’s eastbound entry slip road will be closed from 1pm to 8pm.

M1 junction 28 to 35a, Nottinghamshire/Derbyshire/Yorkshire: smart motorway

Until winter 2016 there will be various restrictions in place on the M1 between junctions 28 and 35a to allow for the construction of the Smart Motorway. These include lane closures, speed restrictions, hard shoulder running and overnight slip road or carriageway closures. This week the following full closures will be in place:

Monday 22 and Tuesday 23 June the northbound junction 31 entry slip road will be closed from 8pm to 6am.

The southbound junction 29 exit slip road will be closed on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday between 8pm and 6am.

Thursday 24 June, the northbound junction 29 entry slip road will be closed, and the northbound junction 29A exit slip road will be closed from 8pm to 6am.

Thursday 25 June, there will be an up and over diversion northbound at junction 34. The same up and over diversion will apply on the southbound carriageway.

Friday 26 June, there will be an up and over diversion on northbound junction 31 and again on Saturday 27 June from 8pm to 6am both nights.

M1 junction 15a, Northamptonshire: verge works

From Friday 26 June to Monday 6 July (9.30am to 3.30pm) there will be work to install and then remove diversion signing northbound and southbound on the entry slip roads in advance of the British Grand Prix at Silverstone.

A1 at Elkesley: resurfacing work

The carriageway will be closed northbound from the exit slip road at North Muskham junction, near Newark, to the Apleyhead slip road, near Retford, from 8pm Friday June 26 to 6am on Monday June 29.

During the weekend closures, traffic will be diverted via the B6352, A616 (Great North Road, Ollerton Road, Newark Road, Wellow Road, Back Lane and Ollerton Road) and on to the A614 Blyth Road to re-join the A1.
