Planned roadworks in the East Midlands: Weekly summary for Monday 11 May to Sunday 17 May 2015

The following summary of planned new and ongoing road improvements over the coming week is correct as of 8 May 2015 but could be subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances. All our improvement work is carried out with the aim of causing as little disruption as possible.

M1 junction 19 at Catthorpe, Leicestershire: Major improvement works

  • On Monday 11 May the M1 northbound carriageway will be closed between junction 19 exit slip road to the M6 and junction 19 entry slip from the A14.
  • At the same time the M1 southbound carriageway will be closed between the M1 to A14 exit slip road and the M6 entry slip road at junction 19. The closures will be from 9pm to 6am Tuesday morning.
  • On Friday 15 May the M1 northbound carriageway will be closed between junction 19 exit slip road to the M6 and junction 19 entry slip road from the A14.
  • At the same time the M1 southbound carriageway will be closed between the M1 to A14 exit slip road and the M6 entry slip road at junction 19. The closures will be from 9pm to 8am Saturday morning.
  • On Saturday 16 May the M1 to M6 northbound link road will be closed to M6 junction 1 and M6 junction 1 to M1 southbound will be closed. The closures will be from 9pm to 8am Sunday morning.
  • Diversions will be in place and clearly signposted.

M1 junction 24/A50 Approach Economy Scheme

Work to improve the capacity and traffic flows at M1 Junction 24 is nearing completion. There will continue to be traffic management in place around the junction and its approaches at night times. There are no full closures over the next week. Customers travelling to and from East Midlands Airport should allow extra time for their journeys during this work, particularly if they have a flight to catch. A453 major improvement scheme

  • From 9 to 17 May Green Street will be closed between New Road and Mill Hill 24 Hours (7am on 9 May to 6pm on 17 May). During the Green Street closure between Mill Hill and New Road, traffic to and from Barton and Thrumpton is diverted via West Leake junction.
  • On 11 May A453 westbound between West Leake junction and M1 junction 24 will be closed 8pm to 5.30am. During the A453 westbound closure between West Leake and M1 junction 24, traffic is diverted via the A453 eastbound to the A52, taking the A52 to M1 junction 25, joining the M1 southbound to junction 24.
  • On 11 to 15 May the A453 westbound entry slip road will be closed at Parkway junction. From 8pm to 5.30am (9pm to 5.30am on Friday 15 May). During the closures of the A453 westbound entry slip road at Parkway junction, traffic is diverted via A453 eastbound, turning at West Leake junction in order to join the A453 westbound.
  • From 12 to 15 May the A453 between West Leake junction and Mill Hill will be closed from 8pm to 5am. During the A453 closures between West Leake and Mill Hill, traffic is diverted via the A453, A52, M1 Junction 25, M1 Junction 24 and return.

M1 junction 28 to 35a, Nottinghamshire/Derbyshire/Yorkshire: Smart Motorway

Until winter 2016 there will be various restrictions in place on the M1 between junctions 28 and 35a to allow for the construction of the Smart Motorway. These include lane closures, speed restrictions, hard shoulder running and overnight slip road or carriageway closures. This week the following full closures will be in place:

On Monday 11 May – Southbound junction 35a entry slip road closed, southbound junction 35 exit slip road closed, northbound junction 29a entry slip road closed, northbound junction 30 exit slip road closed, southbound junction 31 exit slip road closed, southbound junction 29 entry slip road closed and the southbound junction 30 up and over will be closed.

On Tuesday 12 May – Northbound junction 34 entry slip road closed, southbound junction 35 entry slip road closed, southbound junction 34 exit slip road closed, northbound junction 30 exit slip road closed, northbound junction 29a entry slip road closed, southbound junction 30 entry slip road closed and southbound junction 29 entry slip road will be closed.

On Wednesday 13 May - Southbound junction 35a entry slip road closed, southbound junction 35 exit slip road closed, southbound junction 30 entry slip road closed and southbound junction 29a exit slip road will be closed.

On Thursday 14 May – Northbound junction 35 exit slip road closed, southbound junction 35 entry slip road closed, southbound junction 34 exit slip road closed, southbound junction 34 up and over will be closed and southbound junction 29a exit slip road will be closed.

On Friday 15 May – Northbound junction 35a exit slip road closed, northbound junction 35 entry slip road closed, and southbound junction 29a exit slip road will be closed.

On Saturday 16 May – Southbound junction 35a entry slip road will be closed.

On Sunday 17 May – Southbound junction 35 exit slip road will be closed.

A14 junction 7 to 9, Northamptonshire: Resurfacing

From Monday 11 May to Saturday 23 May the eastbound carriageway will be closed each night from 8pm to 6am. (8pm Friday to 8am Saturday & 8pm Saturday to 9am Sunday).

A45 Skew Bridge to Little Irchester, Northamptonshire: Carriageway work

From Tuesday 12 to Saturday 16 May there will be a closure of the southbound carriageway each night from 8pm to 6am. Diversion route will be signposted.

A45 Barnes Meadow to Queen Eleanor, Northamptonshire: Electrical repairs

On Tuesday 12 to Wednesday 13 May there will be southbound entry slip road closure from 9pm to 6am. Diversion route will be signposted.
