Planned roadworks in Kent and Sussex: Weekly summary for Monday 9 November to Sunday 15 November 2015

The following summary of planned new and ongoing road improvements over the coming week is correct as of 6 November but could be subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances. All our improvement work is carried out with the aim of causing as little disruption as possible.

M2 junctions 4 Gillingham to 6 Faversham, Kent: Joint and bearing replacement

Work to maintain journeys by undertaking bridge joint and bearing replacement on the M2 between junctions 4 (Gillingham) and 6 (Faversham) will continue this week. There will be 24/7 hard shoulder closures and a 50mph speed limit in place on both carriageways.

The local road Bottom Pond Road will be closed underneath the motorway until December. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for this local road.

M20 junctions 8 Maidstone to 9 Ashford, Kent: Carriageway investigation

Work to maintain journeys by undertaking carriageway investigations on the M20 between junctions 8 and 9 will continue this week. There will be lane closures on the coastbound carriageway overnight, between 8pm and 6am, from Monday 9 November for 5 nights. The junction 8 coastbound entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 8pm and 6am, on Thursday 12 November. A clearly signed diversion route will be in place via the London-bound entry slip road to junction 7 and return.

A2 Canterbury to Dover, Kent: Road marking renewal

Work to improve safety by renewing the road markings will continue this week. The coastbound carriageway will be closed between Patrixbourne and Barham overnight, between 8pm and 6am, from Monday 9 November for 5 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A299 and A256.

A21 Tonbridge to Pembury, Kent: Major improvement work

Work to improve journeys on the A21 between Tonbridge and Pembury will continue this week. Lane closures will be in place on both carriageways between Longfield Roundabout and the Pembury slip road overnight, between 8pm and 6am, from Monday 9 November for 5 nights.

A26 Newhaven, East Sussex; Lighting investigation

Work to maintain journeys by carrying out lighting investigations on the A26 at Newhaven will start this week. There will be lane closures and temporary two or three way traffic lights in place overnight, between 8pm and 6am, from Monday 9 November for 5 nights.

A27 Southwick Tunnel, West Sussex: Tunnel maintenance

Work to maintain journeys by carrying out tunnel maintenance work will start this week. The A27 will be closed at the Southwick tunnel overnight, between 8pm and 6am, from Friday 13 November for 2 consecutive nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A270 and A293.

A27 Tangmere, West Sussex: Resurfacing

Work to improve safety by resurfacing sections of both approaches to the Tangmere roundabout will start this week. The eastbound carriageway will be closed overnight, between 8pm and 6am, on Monday 9 November and also on Friday 13 November. The westbound carriageway will be closed overnight, between 8pm and 6am, from Tuesday 10 November for 3 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A259.
