The following summary of planned new and ongoing road improvements over the coming week is correct as of 6 Mayl but could be subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances. All our improvement work is carried out with the aim of causing as little disruption as possible.

M2 Stockbury Viaduct, junction 5, Sittingbourne, Kent: bridge maintenance

Work to improve journeys by maintaining the bridge will take place this week. Lane closures will be in place on the coastbound entry slip road overnight, between 8pm and 6am, and during the day between 9.30am and 3.00pm, from Monday 9 May for 5 days.

M20 junction 4, Maidstone, Kent: junction improvement

Work by Kent County Council to improve journeys by adding an additional lane to the roundabout continues this week. Narrow lanes and a 50mph speed limit will be in place on both carriageways underneath the roundabout for the duration of scheme. In addition, there will be a lane closure and 30mph speed limit in place on the southern section of the roundabout.

A20 Dover, Kent: junction improvement work

Work by the Port of Dover to improve journeys on the A20 continues this week. Both carriageways will be closed between Limekiln roundabout and York Street roundabout overnight, between 9pm and 5am, on Saturday 14 May. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the B2011.

A contraflow system will be in place 24/7 from Sunday 15 May between Limekiln roundabout and York Street roundabout for the duration of the works. There will be no right turns from the A20 eastbound on to Union Street and from Union Street on to the A20. Clearly signed diversions will be in place.

A21 Barnetts Wood, Tonbridge, Kent: bridge installation

Work to maintain journeys by installing a replacement bridge will start this week. Lane closures and a reduced speed limit of 50mph will be in place in either direction at a time overnight, between 7.30pm and 5am, from Monday 9 May for 5 nights. Work is due to be complete at the end of July.

A21 Tonbridge to Pembury, Kent: major improvement

Work to improve journeys on the A21 between Tonbridge and Pembury continues this week. A 40mph speed limit remains in place 24/7 between the Vauxhall interchange and the A228.

Two way traffic lights will be in place on the coastbound Vauxhall entry slip road between 9.30am and 3.30pm from Monday 9 May for 5 days.

The Vauxhall coastbound entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 8pm and 6am, from Monday 9 May for 5 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A26 and the A228.

The scheme is due to be completed in spring 2017.

A27 Falmer Footbridge, East Sussex: bridge maintenance

Work to replace the ramp on the footbridge over the A27 at Falmer continues this week.

Narrow lanes and a 50mph speed limit remain in place on the westbound carriageway and the outside lane of the westbound exit slip road remains closed until the end of the scheme. Work is due to be completed in May 2016.

A27 Southwick Tunnel, West Sussex: routine tunnel investigation

Work to maintain journeys on the A27 will start this week. The tunnel will be closed in both directions overnight, between 8pm and 6am from Friday 13 May for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A270 and the A293.

A27 Westhampnett/Portfield roundabout, West Sussex: carriageway resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by resurfacing the carriageway will start this week. The westbound carriageway from Temple Bar to Portfield roundabout will be closed overnight, between 8pm and 6am, from Monday 9 May for 5 nights. Both carriageways will be closed overnight, between 8pm and 6am, on Saturday 14 May. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A259, A29 and A27 for east and westbound traffic and via the A259, A286 and A285 for north and southbound traffic.
