Planned roadworks in Kent and Sussex: weekly summary for Monday 5 October to Sunday 11 October 2015

The following summary of planned new and ongoing road improvements over the coming week is correct as of 2 October but could be subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances. All our improvement work is carried out with the aim of causing as little disruption as possible.

M2 junctions 4 Gillingham to 6 Faversham, Kent: joint and bearing replacement

Work to maintain journeys by undertaking bridge joint and bearing replacement on the M2 between junctions 4 (Gillingham) and 6 (Faversham) will continue this week. There will be 24 hour hard shoulder closures and a 50mph speed limit in place on both carriageways. The local roads Mount Lane and Bottom Pond Road will be closed underneath the motorway until October. Clearly signed diversions will be in place for these local roads.

M23 South Nutfield, West Sussex: geotechnical survey

Work to maintain journeys by undertaking geotechnical surveys on the M23 will start this week. The hard shoulder will be closed from Monday 5 October for 2 days. In addition, lane 1 will be closed in both directions overnight, between 8pm and 6am, on Monday 5 October.

A2 Jubilee Way, Dover, Kent: remedial work

Work to maintain journeys by carrying out remedial work will start this week. The coastbound carriageway will be closed between Guston Roundabout and Eastern Docks Roundabout overnight, between 8pm and 6am, from Monday 5 October for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A256 and A20. In addition, lane closures will be in place on the London-bound carriageway between the Eastern Docks Roundabout and Guston Roundabout overnight, between 8pm and 6am, from Monday 5 October for 5 nights.

A20/A260 Courtwood, Dover, Kent: drainage repair

Work to maintain journeys by carrying out drainage repair work continues this week. There will be a lane closure with one lane remaining open between White Horse Hill junction and Courtwood interchange overnight, between 8pm and 6am, from Monday 5 October for 5 nights. Work is due to be complete in October.

A21 Tonbridge to Pembury, Kent: major improvement work

Work to improve journeys on the A21 between Tonbridge and Pembury will continue this week and is due to be complete in December 2016. The carriageway will be closed in both directions between Vauxhall Interchange and Longfield Roundabout overnight, between 8pm and 6am, on Monday 5 October. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A228, A26 to rejoin the A21. In addition, temporary 2 way traffic lights will be in place between Vauxhall and Longfield overnight, between 8pm and 6am, from Tuesday 6 October for 4 nights. A27 Stockbridge to Fishbourne, West Sussex, resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing work will continue this week. The westbound carriageway will be closed overnight, between 8pm and 6am, from Monday 5 October for 5 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place. Work is due to be complete by mid October.

A27 Fitzalan Bridge, Arundel, West Sussex: bridge refurbishment work

Work to maintain journeys by carrying out essential bridge refurbishment continues this week. The carriageway will be closed in both directions between Ford roundabout and the Causeway roundabout from 5pm on Sunday 11 October until 6am on Monday 12 October. A clearly signed diversion via the A259 will be in place and all work is due to be complete by the beginning of November.

A26 Newhaven, East Sussex: lighting investigation

Work to maintain journeys by carrying out lighting investigations will continue this week. Temporary traffic lights will be in place between South Heighton and the A26/A259 junction overnight, between 8pm and 6am, from on Monday 5 October for 5 nights.

A27 Shoreham, West Sussex: traffic light repair and high friction surfacing

Work to maintain journeys by carrying out repair work will continue this week. The westbound carriageway and lane 2 of the eastbound carriageway between the Adur Viaduct and the Manor Road Roundabout will be closed overnight, between 8pm and 6am, from Monday 5 October for 7 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A283, A259 and A2025.
