Planned roadworks in Kent and Sussex: weekly summary for Monday 28 September to Sunday 03 October 2015

The following summary of planned new and ongoing road improvements over the coming week is correct as of 24 September but could be subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances. All our improvement work is carried out with the aim of causing as little disruption as possible.

M2 junctions 4 Gillingham to 6 Faversham, Kent: joint and bearing replacement

Work to maintain journeys by undertaking bridge joint and bearing replacement on the M2 between junctions 4 (Gillingham) and 6 (Faversham) will continue this week. There will be 24 hour hard shoulder closures and a 50mph speed limit in place on both carriageways. Lane 2 on both carriageways between junctions 4 (Gillingham) and 5 (Sittingbourne) will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 5am, on Tuesday 29 September.

The local roads Mount Lane and Bottom Pond Road will be closed underneath the motorway until October. Clearly signed diversions will be in place for these local roads.

M2 Bredhurst, Gillingham, Kent: bridge joint maintenance

Work to improve journeys by undertaking bridge joint maintenance work on the M2 Bredhurst overbridge continues this week. The bridge on Maidstone Road will be closed above the carriageway 24/7. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via Maidstone Road, Hoath Way, Sharsted Way, Hempstead Valley Drive, Chapel Lane, Hempstead Road, Lidsing Road, Forge Lane and The St. Work is due to be complete by Sunday 4 October.

A20/A260 Courtwood, Dover, Kent: drainage repair

Work to maintain journeys by carrying out drainage repair work continues this week.

There will be a lane closure with one lane remaining open between White Horse Hill junction and Courtwood interchange overnight, between 8pm and 6am, from Monday 28 September for 5 nights. Work is due to be complete in October.

A21 Tonbridge to Pembury, Kent: major improvement work

Work to improve journeys on the A21 between Tonbridge and Pembury will continue this week and is due to be complete in spring 2017. Temporary 2 way traffic lights will be in place between Vauxhall and Longfield overnight, between 8pm and 6am, from Monday 28 September for 5 nights.

A27 Stockbridge to Fishbourne, West Sussex, resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing work will start this week. Carriageway closures of either the east or westbound carriageway will be in place overnight, between 8pm and 6am, Monday to Friday only. A clearly signed diversion route will be in place. Work will start on Monday 28 September and is due to be complete by mid October.

A27 Fitzalan Bridge, Arundel, West Sussex: bridge refurbishment work

Work to maintain journeys by carrying out essential bridge refurbishment work will start on Saturday 3 October. There will be full carriageway closures between Ford roundabout and the Causeway roundabout between 8pm and 6am from Saturday 3 October until Monday 5 October and for a further 3 weekends. A clearly signed diversion route via the A259 will be in place and all work is due to be completed by the beginning of November.

A27 Havant to Chichester, West Sussex: carriageway resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing work will continue this week. The westbound carriageway between Fishbourne Roundabout and Warblington Interchange will be closed overnight, between 8pm and 6am, (Monday to Friday only). A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A259. Work is due to be complete by the end of September.

A27 Temple Bar, Chichester: drainage investigation

Work to maintain journeys by carrying out drainage investigations will start this week. There will be slip road closures in place on both carriageways overnight, between 8pm and 6am, on Monday 28 September. One slip road will be closed at a time with a clearly signed diversion in place.

A27 Shoreham, West Sussex: traffic light repair and high friction surfacing

Work to maintain journeys by carrying out repair work will start this week. The westbound carriageway and lane one of the eastbound carriageway between Adur Viaduct and Manor Road Roundabout will be closed overnight, between 8pm and 6am, from Monday 28 September for 5 nights. A clearly signed diversion diversion will be in place via the A283, A259 and A2025.

A259 Brenzett and Brookland Roundabouts, Kent: electrical investigation

Work to maintain journeys by carrying out electrical investigations will continue this week. Temporary traffic lights will be in place on the Brenzett Roundabout and Brookland Roundabout overnight, between 8pm and 6am, (Monday to Fridays only). Work is due to be complete by the beginning of October.
