The following summary of planned new and ongoing road improvements over the coming week is correct as of 28 November but could be subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances. All our improvement work is carried out with the aim of causing as little disruption as possible.

M2 junctions 5 to 6, Sittingbourne, Kent: carriageway strengthening

Work to improve safety by strengthening the carriageway continues this week. There will be a lane 2 closure in both directions, with hard shoulder running. There will also be a 50mph speed limit in place throughout the period of works until the completion of the scheme at the end of December.

M20 junction 4, Maidstone, Kent: junction improvement

Work by Kent County Council to improve journeys by adding an additional lane to the roundabout continues this week. Narrow lanes and a 50mph speed limit will be in place on both carriageways underneath the roundabout for the duration of scheme. A lane closure and 30mph speed limit will be in place on the southbound section of the roundabout. Lane 1 of the westbound entry slip road will be closed.

M23 junctions 9 to 11, Crawley, Sussex: carriageway resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by undertaking resurfacing starts this week. The southbound carriageway will be closed overnight, between 8pm and 6am, from Monday 28 November for 7 nights. A cleary signed diversion will be in place via the M23, A23 and A2011.

M23 junctions 8 – 10a, South Nutfield to Crawley: surveying

Work to improve journeys starts this week . There will be various lane closures in place in both directions overnight, between 8pm and 6am, from Monday 28 November for 5 nights. Surveys are scheduled to be complete in April 2017.

A2 Bean, Kent: sign repair

Work to improve safety on the A2 between Bean junction and Ebbsfleet junction by repairing an overhead matrix takes place this week. Both carriageways will be closed overnight, between 8pm and 6am, on Tuesday 29 November. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via Bean Lane and Roman Road.

A2 Dover, Kent: litter clearance

Work by Kent County Council to improve journeys by clearing litter takes place this week between the Coxhill Road junction and the Duke Of York’s roundabout. There will be lane 1 closures in both directions overnight, between 8pm and 6am, on Monday 28 November.

A20 Dover, Kent: junction improvement

Work by the Port of Dover to improve journeys on the A20 continues this week. Phased work continues at the York Street junction and at the Union Street junction. Lane closures remain in place in both directions between the Limekiln and Woolcomber junctions. There will be no right turn facility along the section of the A20. Clearly signed diversions will be in place to direct traffic through the works.

A21 Tonbridge to Pembury, Kent: major improvement

Work to improve journeys on the A21 between Tonbridge and Pembury continues this week. A 40mph speed limit remains in place 24/7 between the Vauxhall interchange and the A228.

The southbound carriageway between Quarry Hill and Longfield roundabout and the northbound carriageway between Longfield roundabout and Vauxhall interchange will be closed overnight, between 8pm and 6am, from Thursday 1 December for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A26, A2014, A26 and the A228.

Longfield Road will be closed in both directions between Longfield roundabout and Knights Park roundabout with a clearly signed diversion in place via Liptraps Lane, Birken Road and the A264. In addition a lane will be closed on the northbound carriageway between Kippings Cross roundabout and Pembury interchange.

Two way traffic lights will be in place on the A21 overnight, between 8pm and 6am, from Monday 28 November for 3 nights .

The southbound Vauxhall entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 8pm and 6am, from Monday 28 November for 5 nights.

Tonbridge Road will remain closed after Pembury Hospital up to and including Longfield Road roundabout until Spring 2017. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A228 and the A21.

A27 Ashcombe to Southerham, Sussex: vegetation clearance

Work to improve safety by undertaking vegetation clearance takes place this week.

There will be lane 1 closures in place between Ashcombe Hollow junction and Southerham roundabout overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Monday 28 November.

A27 Chichester, Sussex: carriageway repair

Work to improve journeys on the A27 continues this week. A lane one closure will be in place between Bognor Road and A285 Portfield junction overnight, between 8pm and 6am, from Monday 28 November (Monday to Friday only). Work is expected to be completed by early December.

A259, Bexhill On-Sea, Sussex: carriageway resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by resurfacing the carriageway continues this week. There will be temporary traffic signals in place between Little Common Road roundabout and the junction with Broadoak Lane overnight, between 8pm and 6am, from Monday 28 November for 5 nights. Work is expected to be completed by early December.
