Planned roadworks in Kent and Sussex: Weekly summary for Monday 24 August to Sunday 30 August 2015

The following summary of planned new and ongoing road improvements over the coming week is correct as of 21 August but could be subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances. All our improvement work is carried out with the aim of causing as little disruption as possible.

M2 junctions 4 Gillingham to 6 Faversham, Kent: Joint and bearing replacement

Work to maintain journeys by undertaking bridge joint and bearing replacement on the M2 between junctions 4 (Gillingham) and 6 (Faversham) will continue this week. The local roads Mount Lane and Bottom Pond Road will be closed underneath the motorway until October. Clearly signed diversions will be in place for these local roads.

M20 junction 10 Ashford, Kent: Carriageway resurfacing

Work to improve safety by carrying out resurfacing work will start this week. The Londonbound entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 8pm and 6am, from Monday 24 August for four nights. A fully signed diversion will be in place via the A292, A2070 and the A28.

A2 Guston, Kent: Drainage repair

Work to maintain road user safety by carrying out drainage work will continue this week. A lane closure will be in place with two-way traffic lights between the Guston Roundabout and Honeywood interchange overnight, between 8pm and 6am, from Monday 24 August (Monday to Thursday). Work is due to be complete mid September.

A21 Hurst Green, East Sussex: Carriageway resurfacing and safety improvement

Work to improve safety for road users by carrying out resurfacing and reducing the speed limit will continue this week. The A21 will be closed in both directions between Johns Cross and Hastings overnight, between 9pm and 5am, on Monday 24 August for one night. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A2100.

A full closure will be in place between Hurst Green and Coopers Corner overnight, between 9pm and 5am on Tuesday 25 August for two nights. A fully signed diversion will be in place via the A229 and the A268.

Three way traffic lights will be in place at Coopers Corner overnight, between 9pm and 5am, on Thursday 27 August. Access will be maintained for residents. Work is due to be complete in September.

A21 Tonbridge to Pembury, Kent: Major improvement work

Work to improve journeys on the A21 between Tonbridge and Pembury will continue this week and is due to be complete in spring 2017. A full closure will be in place between Longfield and Vauxhall overnight, between 8pm and 6am on Thursday 27 August.

Temporary two-way traffic lights will be in place between Vauxhall and Longfield overnight, between 8pm and 6am, from Monday 24 August for 3 nights and overnight on Friday 28 August.

A27 Kingsham, West Sussex: New footbridge construction

Work to improve safety by installing a footbridge at Kingsham on the A27 near Chichester will continue this week. Lane closures will be in place in both directions overnight, between 8pm and 5am, from Monday 24 August for 4 nights.

In addition, temporary pedestrian traffic lights will be in place on Hunston Road across the A27, east of Whyke roundabout and across Whyke Road in both directions. A temporary 30mph speed limit will be in place between the Bognor roundabout and the Stockbridge roundabout during the same period. Work is due to be complete in August.
