Planned roadworks in Kent and Sussex: weekly summary for Monday 23 November to Sunday 29 November 2015

Planned new and ongoing road improvements over the coming week.

The following summary of planned new and ongoing road improvements over the coming week is correct as of 20 November but could be subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances. All our improvement work is carried out with the aim of causing as little disruption as possible.

M2 junctions 3 Chatham to 5 Stockbury, Kent: resurfacing

Work to maintain journeys by resurfacing sections of the carriageway on the M2 between junction 3 (Chatham) and junction 5 (Stockbury) will start this week. Work is due to be complete by the middle of December.

The following closures will be in place overnight, between 9pm and 5am:

The London-bound exit slip road at junction 4 will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 5am, on Monday 23 November. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 3 and return on the London-bound carriageway to junction 4.

The coastbound exit slip road at junction 4 will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 5am, on Tuesday 24 November. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 5 and return on the Londonbound carriageway to junction 4.

The coastbound entry and exit slip roads at junction 4 will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 5am, on Wednesday 25 November. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 5 and return on the London-bound carriageway to junction 4 for road users wishing to exit at junction 4. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the London-bound carriageway to junction 3 and return on the coastbound carriageway for road users wishing to join the M2.

The coastbound carriageway will be closed between junction 3 and 4 overnight, between 9pm and 5am, from Thursday 26 November for 4 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A229 and the A249 to rejoin the M2.

M2 junctions 5 Stockbury to 6 Faversham, Kent: joint and bearing replacement

Work to maintain journeys by undertaking bridge joint and bearing replacement on the M2 between junctions 5 (Stockbury) and 6 (Faversham) will continue this week. The M2 will be closed in both directions overnight, between 8pm and 6am, from Monday 23 November for two nights and overnight on Friday 27 November. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via A251, M20 and the A249.

In addition there will be 24/7 hard shoulder closures and a 50mph speed limit in place on both carriageways. There will be a lane closure on the coastbound entry slip road overnight, between 8pm and 6am, from Wednesday 25 November for two nights.

The local road Bottom Pond Road will be closed underneath the motorway until December. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for this local road. Work is due to be complete in early December

M20 junctions 8 Maidstone to 9 Ashford, Kent: carriageway investigation

Work to maintain journeys by undertaking carriageway investigations on the M20 between junctions 8 and 9 will continue this week. There will be lane closures on the Londonbound carriageway overnight, between 8pm and 6am, on Tuesday 24 November.

A2 Boughton Street, Kent: drainage investigation

Work to maintain journeys by carrying out drainage surveys will start this week. There will be lane closures on both carriageways between Brenley Corner and Dunkirk overnight, between 8pm and 6am, from Monday 23 November for 5 nights.

A2 Canterbury to Dover, Kent: road marking renewal

Work to improve safety by renewing the road markings will continue this week. The carriageway will be closed in both directions between Barham and Whitfield overnight, between 8pm and 6am, from Monday 23 November for 5 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A256 and A299. Work is due to be complete by late December

A2070 Hamstreet, Kent: carriageway resurfacing

Work to improve journeys on the A2070 near Hamstreet will start this week. A lane closure will be in place between Brenzett Roundabout and the A2042 with traffic escorted past the work site in a convoy at 10mph overnight, between 8pm and 6am from Thursday 26 November for two nights.

In addition, access to and from the A2070 from Ashford Road will be closed overnight, between 8pm and 6am, from Thursday 26 November for two nights. A clearly signed diversion route will be in place at this time, via Ashford Road and the A2070.

A21 Tonbridge to Pembury, Kent: major improvement work

Work to improve journeys on the A21 between Tonbridge and Pembury will continue this week. The London-bound carriageway will be closed between the Longfield Roundabout and Vauxhall interchange, overnight, between 8pm and 6am, from Monday 23 November for 5 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A228 and the A26.

A23, Hickstead, West Sussex: resurfacing

Work to improve safety by resurfacing the A23 will start this week. The inside two lanes will be closed and a 50mph speed limit in place overnight, between 8pm and 6am, from 23 November for five nights. In addition the coastbound entry slip road at Bolney (A272) and London-bound exit slip road at Hickstead (A2300) will be a closed with clearly signed diversions using the next available junction.
