The following summary of planned new and ongoing road improvements over the coming week is correct as of 18 September but could be subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances. All our improvement work is carried out with the aim of causing as little disruption as possible.

M2 junctions 4 Gillingham to 6 Faversham, Kent: joint and bearing replacement

Work to maintain journeys by undertaking bridge joint and bearing replacement on the M2 between junctions 4 (Gillingham) and 6 (Faversham) will continue this week. The carriageway between junctions 4 (Gillingham) and 5 (Sittingbourne) will be closed in both directions overnight, between 9pm and 5am, on Monday 21 September. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A249, M20 and the A229.

In addition, the local roads Mount Lane and Bottom Pond Road will be closed underneath the motorway until October. Clearly signed diversions will be in place for these local roads.

M2 Bredhurst, Gillingham, Kent: bridge joint maintenance

Work to improve journeys by undertaking bridge joint maintenance work on the M2 Bredhurst overbridge will start this week. The bridge on Maidstone Road will be closed above the carriageway 24/7, from 8pm on Friday 18 September. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via Maidstone Road, Hoath Way, Sharsted Way, Hempstead Valley Drive, Chapel Lane, Hempstead Road, Lidsing Road, Forge Lane and The St. Work is due to be complete by Sunday 4 October.

M2 Brogdale, Faversham, Kent: bridge deck maintenance

Work to improve journeys by undertaking bridge joint maintenance work on the M2 Brogdale overbridge will continue this week. The bridge on Brogdale Lane will be closed above the carriageway 24/7. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via Brogdale Road, A2/London Road, A251 Ashford Road, Loose Down Road, Throwley Road and Eastling Road. Work is due to be complete by Sunday 27 September.

A20/A260 Courtwood, Dover, Kent: drainage repair

Work to maintain journeys by carrying out drainage repair work continues this week. The eastbound carriageway will be closed between junction 13 and White Horse Hill junction overnight, between 8pm and 6am, from Monday 21 September for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A259 and A260. In addition, there will be a lane closure with one lane remaining open between White Horse Hill junction and Courtwood interchange overnight, between 8pm and 6am, from Monday 21 September for 5 nights. Work is due to be complete in October.

A21 Tonbridge to Pembury, Kent: major improvement work

Work to improve journeys on the A21 between Tonbridge and Pembury will continue this week and is due to be complete in spring 2017. Temporary two way traffic lights will be in place between Vauxhall and Longfield overnight, between 8pm and 6am, from Monday 21 September for 5 nights.

A259 Brenzett and Brookland roundabouts, Kent: electrical investigation

Work to maintain journeys by carrying out electrical investigations will start this week. Temporary traffic lights will be in place on the Brenzett roundabout and Brookland roundabout overnight, between 8pm and 6am, (Monday to Fridays only). Work is due to be complete by the beginning of October.

A26 Newhaven, East Sussex: lighting investigation

Work to maintain journeys by carrying out lighting investigations will continue this week. Temporary traffic lights will be in place between South Heighton and the A26/A259 junction overnight, between 8pm and 6am, (Monday to Friday only). Work is due to be complete by the end of September.

A27 Havant to Chichester, West Sussex: carriageway resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing work will continue this week. The westbound carriageway between Fishbourne roundabout and Warblington interchange will be closed overnight, between 8pm and 6am, (Monday to Friday only). A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A259. Work is due to be complete by the end of September.
