The following summary of planned new and ongoing road improvements over the coming week is correct as of 29 April but could be subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances. All our improvement work is carried out with the aim of causing as little disruption as possible.

M2 Stockbury Viaduct, junction 5, Sittingbourne, Kent: bridge maintenance

Work to improve journeys by maintaining the bridge will take place this week. Lane closures will be in place on the coastbound entry slip road overnight, between 8pm and 6am, and during the day between 9.30am and 3.00pm, from Monday 2 May for 5 days.

M20 junction 4, Maidstone, Kent: junction improvement

Work to improve journeys by adding an additional lane to the roundabout by Kent County Council continues this week. Narrow lanes and a 50mph speed limit will be in place on both carriageways underneath the roundabout for the duration of scheme. In addition, there will be a lane closure and 30mph speed limit in place on the southern section of the roundabout.

M20 junctions 5 to 6, Maidstone, Kent: sign refurbishment

Work to improve journeys by carrying out sign refurbishment works will start this week. The London-bound carriageway between junctions 6 and 5 will be closed overnight, between 8pm and 6am, on Wednesday 4 May. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the distributor road.

A2, Bean and Darenth interchange, Kent: sign refurbishment

Work to improve journeys by carrying out sign refurbishment works will start this week. The London-bound carriageway will be closed between the exit and entry slip roads at Bean interchange overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Thursday 5 May. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the exit and entry slip road.

Lane closures will be in place on the coastbound carriageway between Darenth Interchange and Bean overnight, between 11pm and 5am, on Friday 6 May. A reduced speed limit of 50mph will be in place in the remaining open lane.

A20 Dover, Kent: junction improvement work

Work by the Port of Dover to improve journeys on the A20 continues this week. Lane closures will be in place with one lane remaining open in both directions between the Limekiln and York Street roundabouts 24/7 for the duration of the works. In addition, there will be no right turns from the A20 eastbound on to Union Street and from Union Street on to the A20. Clearly signed diversions will be in place.

A21 Barnetts Wood, Tonbridge, Kent: bridge installation

Work to maintain journeys by installing a replacement bridgewill start this week. Lane closures and a reduced speed limit of 50mph will be in place in either direction at a time overnight, between 7.30pm and 5am, from Monday 2 May for 5 nights. Work is due to be complete at the end of July.

A21 Tonbridge to Pembury, Kent: major improvement

Work to improve journeys on the A21 between Tonbridge and Pembury continues this week. A 40mph speed limit remains in place 24/7 between the Vauxhall interchange and the A228.

Both carriageways will be closed between the Vauxhall interchange and the Longfield roundabout overnight, between 8pm and 6am, on Tuesday 5 May. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A2014, A26 and the A228.

The scheme is due to be completed in spring 2017.

A259, Hooe, East Sussex: junction improvement

Work to improve journeys by carrying out junction improvements will start this week. Temporary traffic lights will be in place with traffic escorted past the work site in a convoy at 10mph overnight, between 8pm and 6am, from Tuesday 3 May for 2 nights.

A27 Falmer Footbridge, East Sussex: bridge maintenance

Work to replace the ramp on the footbridge over the A27 at Falmer continues this week.

Narrow lanes and a 50mph speed limit remain in place on the westbound carriageway and the outside lane of the westbound exit slip road remains closed until the end of the scheme. Work is due to be completed in May 2016.

The westbound carriageway will be closed overnight, between 8pm and 6am, from Saturday 7 May for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the exit and entry slip roads.

A27 Westhampnett/Portfield roundabout, West Sussex: carriageway resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by resurfacing the carriageway will start this week. The westbound carriageway from Temple Bar to Portfield roundabout will be closed overnight, between 8pm and 6am, from Tuesday 3 May for 6 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via A259, A29 and A27 for east and westbound traffic and via the A259, A286 and A285 for north and southbound traffic.
