The following summary of planned new and ongoing road improvements over the coming week is correct as of 15 January but could be subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances. All our improvement work is carried out with the aim of causing as little disruption as possible.

M20 junction 5, Maidstone, Kent: carriageway investigation

Work to maintain road user safety on the M20 will start this week. There will be overnight closures, between 8pm and 6am, in both directions as follows:

Monday 18 January: the coastbound distributor road will be closed between junctions 5 and 7 for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 7 and return on the London-bound carriageway. In addition, there will be lane closures on the London-bound carriageway.

Wednesday 20 January: the London-bound distributor road will be closed at junction 7 for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 4 and return on the coastbound carriageway. In addition, there will be lane closures on the coastbound carriageway.

Friday 22 January: The London-bound distributor road between junctions 5 and 7 and the coastbound entry slip road at junction 7 will be closed. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 4 to return on the London-bound carriageway.

A21 Tonbridge to Pembury, Kent: major improvement

Work to improve journeys on the A21 between Tonbridge and Pembury will continue this week. Two way traffic lights will be in place between the Vauxhall Interchange and Longfield Roundabout overnight, between 8pm and 6am, from Monday 18 January for 5 nights. Two way traffic lights will be in place between Tonbridge Road and Longfield Roundabout overnight, between 7pm and 10am, on Saturday 23 January. In addition, there will be a lane closure between Longfield Roundabout and Knights Park at the same time.

A21 Morley’s Interchange, Tonbridge, Kent: carriageway investigation

Work to maintain road user safety on the A21 at Morley’s Interchange will take place this week. Lane one of the southbound carriageway and the southbound entry and exit slip roads will be closed overnight, between 8pm and 6am, on Monday 18 January.

Lane one of the of the London-bound carriageway and the London-bound entry and exit slip roads will be closed overnight, between 8pm and 6am, on Tuesday 19 January.

The lay-bys on both carriageways will be closed overnight, between 8pm and 6am, on Wednesday 20 January.

A23 Pyecombe Cutting, East Sussex: geotechnical work

Work to maintain road user safety on the A23 will start this week. The A281/A23 coastbound entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 8pm and 6am, from Monday 18 January for 5 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the London-bound A23.

A27 Selmeston, East Sussex: footpath resurfacing

Work to improve the footpath between Salvidge Service Station and the Village Road junction will start this week. Two way traffic lights will be in place between 8am and 5pm from Monday 18 January for 5 days.
