Planned roadworks in Kent and Sussex: Weekly summary for Monday 02 November to Sunday 08 November 2015

The following summary of planned new and ongoing road improvements over the coming week is correct as of 30 October but could be subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances. All our improvement work is carried out with the aim of causing as little disruption as possible.

M2 junctions 4 Gillingham to 6 Faversham, Kent: joint and bearing replacement

Work to maintain journeys by undertaking bridge joint and bearing replacement on the M2 between junctions 4 (Gillingham) and 6 (Faversham) will continue this week. There will be 24/7 hard shoulder closures and a 50mph speed limit in place on both carriageways.

The local road Bottom Pond Road will be closed underneath the motorway until December. Clearly signed diversions will be in place for these local roads.

M20 junctions 8 Maidstone to 9 Ashford, Kent: carriageway investigation

Work to maintain journeys by undertaking carriageway investigations on the M20 between junctions 8 and 9 will continue this week. There will be lane closures on the London-bound carriageway overnight, between 8pm and 6am, from Monday 2 November for 4 nights There will be lane closures on the coastbound carriageway overnight, between 8pm and 6am, on Friday 6 November.

A2 Boughton Street, Kent: drainage investigation

Work to maintain journeys by carrying out drainage surveys will continue this week. There will be lane closures on both carriageways between Brenley Corner and Dunkirk overnight, between 8pm and 6am, from Monday 2 November for 5 nights.

A2 Canterbury to Dover, Kent: road marking renewal

Work to improve safety by renewing the road marking will start this week. The London-bound carriageway will be closed between Patrixbourne and Harbledown overnight, between 8pm and 6am, from Monday 2 November for 2 nights. The coastbound carriageway will be closed overnight, between 8pm and 6am, from Wednesday 4 November for 3 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A2050, Rheims Way, A28 and the A257.

A20 Roundhill Tunnel, Folkestone, Kent: tunnel maintenance

Work to maintain journeys by carrying out routine tunnel maintenance on the A20 will start this week. The eastbound carriageway will be closed overnight, between 8pm and 6am, from Monday 2 November for 2 nights. The westbound carriageway will be closed overnight, between 8pm and 6am, from Wednesday 4 November for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A259 and the A260.

A21 Tonbridge to Pembury, Kent: major improvement work

Work to improve journeys on the A21 between Tonbridge and Pembury will continue this week. Two way traffic lights will be in place on the coastbound entry slip road at Vauxhall interchange overnight, between 8pm and 6am, from Monday 2 November for 5 nights.

A26 Newhaven, East Sussex; lighting investigation

Work to maintain journeys by carrying out lighting investigations on the A26 at Newhaven will start this week. There will be lane closures and temporary two or three way traffic lights in place overnight, between 8pm and 6am, from Monday 2 November for 5 nights.

A27 Fontwell, West Sussex: technology reinstatement

Work to maintain journeys by carrying out technology reinstatement works will start this week. There will be lane closures in both directions overnight, between 8pm and 6am, from Thursday 5 November for 2 nights.
