Planned roadworks in East Midlands: Weekly summary for Monday 9 November to Sunday 15 November 2015

The following summary of planned new and ongoing road improvements over the coming week is correct as of 6 November but could be subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances. All our improvement work is carried out with the aim of causing as little disruption as possible.

M1 junction 16 to 19, Northamptonshire: Smart motorways preparatory work

There will be various restrictions in place to allow for the smart motorway preparatory work to be undertaken. These include speed restrictions, narrow lanes and hard shoulder running.

From Monday 9 to Tuesday 10 November, the M1 southbound will be closed overnight between junctions 19 and 18 from 9pm until 6am.

From Wednesday 11 to Friday 13 November, the M1 northbound will be closed overnight between junction 16 and 18, including the M45 entry slip road, from 9pm until 6am.

M1 junction 19, Leicestershire: Road improvement scheme

On Monday 9 and Tuesday 10 November, the M1 southbound will be closed at junction 19 and the M6 southbound will be closed at junction 1.

M1 southbound traffic will be diverted off the M1 at junction 20. Traffic will head south on the A426 to Gibbet Hill roundabout, then head south on the A5 and re-join the M1 at junction 18.

M6 southbound traffic will exit at junction 1 and head north on the A426 to Gibbet Hill roundabout, then the M1 southbound traffic will turn right and head south on the A5 and re-join the M1 at junction 18. A14 traffic will continue up the A426 to M1 junction 20, head south to junction 19 and join the A14 eastbound.

M1 junction 28 to 35a, Nottinghamshire/Derbyshire/Yorkshire: smart motorway

Until winter 2016, there will be various restrictions in place on the M1 between junctions 28 and 35a to allow for the construction of the Smart Motorway. These include lane closures, speed restrictions, hard shoulder running and overnight slip road or carriageway closures. This week, the following full closures will be in place:

  • on Monday 9 November, the M1 junction 28 northbound entry slip road, the junction 29a southbound entry slip road, the junction 28 southbound entry slip road, the junction 34 northbound up and over, the junction 35 northbound entry slip road and the junction 30 exit slip road will be closed overnight from 8pm until 6am
  • on Tuesday 10 November, the M1 junction 34 northbound up and over, the junction 35 northbound entry slip road, the junction 28 northbound exit slip road, the junction 28 southbound entry slip road and the junction 30 southbound exit slip road will be closed overnight from 8pm until 6am
  • on Wednesday 11 November, the M1 junction 34 southbound up and over, the junction 35 northbound entry slip road, the junction 33 northbound entry slip road, the junction 28 northbound entry slip road, the northbound exit slip road to Woodall services and the junction 28 southbound exit slip road will be closed overnight from 8pm until 6am
  • on Thursday 12 November, the M1 junction 34 southbound up and over, the junction 35 northbound entry slip road, the junction 33 southbound entry slip road, the junction 28 northbound entry slip road, the northbound exit slip road to Woodall Services and the junction 28 southbound exit slip road will be closed overnight from 8pm until 6am
  • on Friday 13 November, the M1 junction 34 southbound entry slip road, the junction 28 northbound entry slip road, the northbound exit slip road to Woodall Services and the junction 28 southbound exit slip road will be closed overnight from 8pm until 6am.

M1 junction 27, Nottinghamshire: Electrical work

The northbound entry slip road will be closed overnight from 10pm on Tuesday 10 November until 5am on Wednesday 11 November. Diversions will be clearly signposted.

A46 Newark, Nottinghamshire: Carriageway repairs

From Tuesday 10 to Thursday 12 November, there will be overnight closures on the A46 northbound carriageway between Brownhills Roundabout and the A46/A1133 roundabout between 8pm and 6am. Diversions will be clearly signposted.

A46 Widmerpool to Willoughby, Nottinghamshire: Carriageway repairs

The southbound entry slip at Willoughby will be closed overnight from 8pm until 5am on Tuesday 10 November.
