Planned roadworks in East Midlands: weekly summary for Monday 7 November to Sunday 13 November 2016

The following summary of planned new and ongoing road improvements over the coming week is correct as of 4 November but could be subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances. All our improvement work is carried out with the aim of causing as little disruption as possible.

M1 junction 32 to 35a, Nottinghamshire/Derbyshire/Yorkshire: smart motorway

Until winter 2016, there will be various restrictions in place on the M1 between junctions 32 and 35a to allow for the construction of the smart motorway. These include lane closures, speed restrictions, hard shoulder running and overnight slip road or carriageway closures.

On Monday 7 November, the northbound up and over at junction 34, the northbound entry slip road at junction 35, the southbound entry slip road at junction 35a and the southbound exit slip road at junction 32 will be closed overnight from 8pm until 6am.

On Tuesday 8 November, the northbound up and over at junction 34, the northbound entry slip road at junction 35, the southbound exit slip road at junction 35, the northbound exit slip road at junction 35a and the southbound entry slip road at junction 34 will be closed overnight from 8pm until 6am.

On Wednesday 9 November, the northbound entry slip road at junction 34, the southbound exit slip road at junction 35, the southbound up and over at junction 34 and the southbound entry slip road at junction 35a will be closed overnight from 8pm until 6am.

On Thursday 10 November, the northbound entry slip road at junction 34, the southbound up and over at junction 34 and the southbound exit slip road at junction 33 will be closed overnight from 8pm until 6am.

On Friday 11 November, the southbound entry slip road at junction 35a, the southbound exit slip road and the southbound entry slip road at junction 34 will be closed overnight from 8pm until 6am.

M1 junction 19 to 16, Northamptonshire: smart motorway

From Monday 7 November to Sunday 13 November, the southbound and northbound carriageway will have two lanes closed between junctions 16 and 19 from 9pm to 6am.

M1 junction 19, Leicestershire: road improvement scheme

In all cases diversion routes will be clearly signposted:

On Monday 7 November, the A14 eastbound from Catthorpe junction to junction 1 and lane 1 of the A14 westbound will be closed overnight between 8pm and 6am.

Lane 3 of the M6 southbound together with the M6 to A14 link road, lanes 1 and 2 of the M1 southbound together with the M1 to A14 link road and the A5 southbound from Gibbet Hill roundabout to the local junction for Catthorpe village will be closed overnight between 9pm and 6am.

On Tuesday 8 November, the A14 eastbound from Catthorpe junction to junction 1 and lane 1 of the A14 westbound will be closed overnight between 8pm and 6am.

The M6 southbound from junction 1 to Catthorpe junction (including the slip road for A14 traffic) and the M1 southbound from junction 20 to Catthorpe junction will be closed overnight between 9pm and 6am.

On Wednesday 9 November, the A14 eastbound from Catthorpe junction to junction 1 and lane 1 of the A14 westbound together with the A14 to M6 northbound link road will be closed overnight between 8pm and 6am. The M6 southbound from junction 1 to Catthorpe junction (including the slip road for A14 traffic) and the M1 southbound from junction 20 to Catthorpe junction will be closed overnight between 9pm and 6am.

On Thursday 10 November, lane 1 of the A14 westbound together with the A14 to M6 northbound link road and lane 1 of the A14 eastbound will be closed overnight between 8pm and 6am.

The M1 northbound from junction 18 to Catthorpe junction will be closed overnight between 9pm and 6am.

On Friday 11 November, the A14 westbound from junction 2 to Catthorpe junction and lane 1 of the A14 eastbound will be closed overnight between 8pm and 6am.

On Saturday 12 November, lane 1 of the A14 westbound together with the A14 to M1 northbound link road will be closed overnight between 8pm and 6am.

The M1 northbound from junction 18 to Catthorpe junction will be closed overnight between 9pm and 6am.

A42, Leicestershire: carriageway repairs

Work will be taking place on the A42 from junction 13 (Ashby-de-la-Zouch) to the M1 junction at 23a (Castle Donington and East Midlands Airport).

To complete the scheme, full carriageway closures will be required along with slip roads, with the following working hours:

  • 9pm to 6am on weeknights (Monday to Friday)
  • 9pm on Friday to 12am on Saturday and from 8pm on Saturday evening through to 12am on Sunday for extended overnight shifts

As part of the scheme, lay-bys along the work area will be fully closed, 24 hours a day, during the project. This will help maintain safety and prevent parked vehicles causing disruption to the work programme.
