Planned roadworks in East Midlands: weekly summary for Monday 4 to Sunday 10 April 2016

The following summary of planned new and on-going road improvements over the coming week is correct as of 1 April but could be subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances. All our improvement work is carried out with the aim of causing as little disruption as possible.
M1 junction 28 to 35a, Nottinghamshire/Derbyshire/Yorkshire: smart motorway
Until winter 2016, there will be various restrictions in place on the M1 between junctions 28 and 35a to allow for the construction of the smart motorway. These include lane closures, speed restrictions, hard shoulder running and overnight slip road or carriageway closures.
On Monday 4 April, the following overnight closures will be in place between 8pm and 6am:
- the southbound entry slip road at junction 31
- the northbound entry slip road at junction 34
On Tuesday 5 April, the following overnight closures will be in place between 8pm and 6am:
- the southbound entry slip road at junction 31
- the northbound entry slip road at junction 34
- the southbound entry slip road at junction 35
On Wednesday 6 April, the following overnight closures will be in place between 8pm and 6am:
- the northbound exit slip road at junction 31
- the northbound entry slip road at junction 34
- the southbound entry slip road at junction 35
On Thursday 7 April, the following overnight closures will be in place between 8pm and 6am:
- the northbound exit slip road at junction 31
- the northbound entry slip road at junction 35
On Friday 8 April, the following overnight closures will be in place between 8pm and 6am:
- the northbound entry slip road at junction 31
- the southbound entry slip road at junction 35a
- the southbound entry slip road at junction 34
M1 junction 19 to 16, Northamptonshire: smart motorway
There will be a series of closures on the northbound carriageway between junctions 18 and 16 in the coming week. The northbound will close each night at 9pm and will reopen the next morning at 6am. Closures are planned for the nights of 4 to the 9 April. Watford Gap services entrance and exit slip roads will also be closed.
During the closures, the following diversion will be in place:
M1 northbound traffic will be diverted onto the A45 towards Flore at junction 16. Traffic will follow the A45 to the cross roads with the A5. Traffic will turn right at the traffic lights, following the A5 to re-join the M1 northbound at junction 18.
A43 Abthorpe, Northamptonshire: carriageway repairs
The southbound carriageway will be closed between A5 Towcester roundabout and Abthorpe roundabout overnight on 5, 6, 7 April between 8pm and 6am. Diversions will be clearly signposted.
The northbound carriageway will be closed overnight from the A413 Dadford Road junction and A413 Wood Burcote junction overnight on 7, and 8 April between 8pm and 6am. Diversions will be clearly signposted.
