Planned roadworks in East Midlands: weekly summary for Monday 25 April to Sunday 1 May 2016

Media wanting information about Highways England’s routine maintenance projects should, in the first instance, check our website. The following summary of planned new and on-going road improvements over the coming week is correct as of 22 April but could be subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances. All our improvement work is carried out with the aim of causing as little disruption as possible.

M1 junction 32 to 35a, Nottinghamshire/Derbyshire/Yorkshire: smart motorway

Until winter 2016, there will be various restrictions in place on the M1 between junctions 32 and 35a to allow for the construction of the smart motorway. These include lane closures, speed restrictions, hard shoulder running and overnight slip road or carriageway closures.

On Monday 25 April, the northbound exit slip road at junction 31 will be closed overnight from 8pm until 6am.

On Tuesday 26 April, the northbound exit slip road and the southbound entry slip road at junction 31 will be closed overnight from 8pm until 6am. The southbound entry and exit slip roads will also be closed at junction 35.

On Wednesday 27 April, the northbound exit slip road will be closed overnight from 8pm until 6am. The southbound entry and exit slip at Woodall services will be closed. The northbound entry slip road will be closed at junction 35. The northbound up and over at junction 34 will also be closed.

On Thursday 28 April, the northbound entry and exit slip roads at junction 31 will be closed overnight from 8pm until 6am. The northbound entry slip road will also be closed at junction 35.

On Friday 29 April, the northbound entry and exit slip roads at junction 31 will be closed overnight from 8pm until 6am. The northbound entry slip road at junction 34 will also be closed.

On Saturday 30 April and Sunday 1 May, the southbound entry and exit slip roads at junction 31 will be closed overnight from 8pm until 6am

M1 junction 19 to 16, Northamptonshire: smart motorway

On Monday 25 April, the northbound carriageway will be closed for 2 nights between junctions 16 and 18 overnight from 9pm until 6am. The Watford Gap services entrance and exit slip road, the M45 and junction 18 entry slip roads will also be closed during this time. Diversions will be clearly signposted.

M1 junction 19, Leicestershire: road improvement scheme

The M6 northbound link road will be closed from junction 1 overnight from 9pm until 6am on Wednesday 27, Thursday 28 and Friday 29 April.

Diversion routes: M6 northbound traffic will continue north up the M1 to junction 20, head south west down the A426 and join the M6 at junction 1.

A46 Hobby Horse roundabout to Wanlip, Leicestershire: carriageway resurfacing

The southbound carriageway will be closed overnight from 8pm until 6am each night from Thursday 28 April to Thursday 5 May. Diversions will be clearly signposted.
