Planned roadworks in East Midlands: weekly summary for Monday 21 to Sunday 27 September 2015

The following summary of planned new and ongoing road improvements over the coming week is correct as of 18 September but could be subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances. All our improvement work is carried out with the aim of causing as little disruption as possible.

M1 junction 16 to 19, Northamptonshire: smart motorways preparatory work

There will be various restrictions in place to allow for the smart motorway preparatory work to be undertaken. These include speed restrictions, narrow lanes and hard shoulder running.

M1 junction 19, Leicestershire: road improvement scheme

On Tuesday 22 September, the M6 southbound will be closed at junction 1 from 9pm until 6am the following morning (23 September).

M6 to A14 traffic will be diverted off at M6 junction 1 on to the A426 to M1 junction 20 and will head south, coming off the M1 at junction 19 on to the A14.

M6 to M1 traffic will be diverted off at M6 junction 1 on to the A426, before turning right and heading south on the A5 to junction 18 of the M1.

On Thursday 24 September, the A14 westbound will be closed between junction 2 and Catthorpe junction. There will also be a full closure between the 2 dumbbells and the M6 southbound exit road to dumbbells will be closed.

A14 to M1 southbound traffic will be diverted on to the A45 at junction 13 and head south to re-join the M1 at junction 15.

M6 to A14 traffic will be diverted off the M6 at junction 1, before heading north up the A426 to junction 20 of the M1, then south and off at junction 19.

M1 junction 28 to 35a, Nottinghamshire/Derbyshire/Yorkshire: smart motorway

Until winter 2016, there will be various restrictions in place on the M1 between junctions 28 and 35a to allow for the construction of the smart motorway. These include lane closures, speed restrictions, hard shoulder running and overnight slip road or carriageway closures. This week, the following full closures will be in place:

From Monday 21 to Tuesday 22, the northbound exit slip road at junction 28 will be closed overnight from 8pm until 6am.

From Wednesday 23 to Friday 25 September, the northbound exit slip road at junction 29 will be closed overnight from 8pm until 6am.

On Monday 21 September, the southbound entry slip road at junction 29a and the southbound entry slip road at junction 31 will be closed overnight from 8pm until 6am.

On Tuesday 22 September, the southbound exit slip road at junction 29a will be closed overnight from 8pm until 6am.

On Wednesday 23 September, the northbound entry slip road at junction 28 will be closed overnight from 8pm until 6am.

On Friday 25 September, the southbound exit slip road at junction 28, the southbound up and over at junction 34, the southbound entry slip road at junction 34, and the southbound exit slip road at junction 33 will be closed overnight from 8pm until 6am.

On Saturday 26 September, the northbound entry slip road at junction 33, the northbound exit slip road at junction 34, and the northbound up and over at junction 34 will be closed overnight from 8pm until 6am.

A14 junction 10 to junction 13, Northamptonshire: drainage works

On Monday 21 and Tuesday 22 September, the A14 westbound will be closed overnight between junction 13 and junction 10 between 8pm and 6am.

On Wednesday 23 September, the A14 westbound will be closed overnight between junction 10 and junction 10 between 8pm and 6am.

A5 Crick to Magna Park, Leicestershire: diversion

A clearly signed diversion route will be in place on the north and southbound carriageways between 9pm and 6am each night, due to work at M1 junction 19.

A14 Kelmarsh, Northamptonshire: drainage works

The eastbound carriageway will be closed overnight from 8pm to 6am between junctions 2 and 4 from Monday 21 to Sunday 27 September.

A43 Towcester to Brackley, Northamptonshire: drainage works

The A43 will be closed overnight between Towcester and Brackley from Monday 21 to Friday 25 September between 8pm and 6am. Diversions will be clearly signposted.

A46 Newark, Nottinghamshire: carriageway repairs

The A46 westbound will be closed overnight from 8pm to 6am between the A17 roundabout and Brownhills roundabout from Monday 21 to Saturday 26 September. Diversions will be clearly signposted.
