The following summary of planned new and ongoing road improvements over the coming week is correct as of 18 November but could be subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances. All our improvement work is carried out with the aim of causing as little disruption as possible.

M1 junction 28 to 35a, Nottinghamshire/Derbyshire/Yorkshire: smart motorway

Until winter 2016, there will be various restrictions in place on the M1 between junctions 28 and 35a to allow for the construction of the smart motorway. These include lane closures, speed restrictions, hard shoulder running and overnight slip road or carriageway closures.

On Monday 21 November, the northbound exit slip road at junction 28 will be closed overnight from 8pm until 6am. In addition the southbound M18 link to the M1 northbound will be closed at the same time.

On Tuesday 22 November, the northbound entry slip road at junction 28, the southbound entry slip road at junction 35 and the southbound exit slip road at junction 34 will be closed overnight from 8pm until 6am. In addition the southbound M18 link to the M1 northbound will be closed at the same time.

On Wednesday 23 November, the northbound entry slip road at junction 34 will be closed overnight from 8pm until 6am. In addition the southbound M18 link to the M1 northbound will be closed at the same time.

On Thursday 24 November, the southbound entry slip road at junction 35 and the exit slip road at junction 34 will be closed overnight from 8pm until 6am. In addition the southbound M18 link to the M1 northbound will be closed at the same time.

On Friday 25 November, the entry and exit slip road at Tibshelf services, the northbound exit slip road at junction 29 and the southbound entry slip road at junction 24 will be closed overnight from 8pm until 6am. In addition the southbound M18 link to the M1 northbound will be closed at the same time.

On Saturday 26 November, the south and northbound up and over at junction 34 will be closed overnight from 8pm until 6am.

M1 junction 19 to 16, Northamptonshire: smart motorway

From Monday 21 November to Friday 25 November, the northbound carriageway will have two lanes closed between junctions 16 and 19 from 9pm to 6am.

From Monday 21 November to Friday 25 November, the southbound carriageway will have two lanes closed between junctions 16 and 19 from 9pm to 6am.

On Saturday 26 November, the north and southbound carriageway will be closed between junctions 16 and 18 from 9pm to 6am. In addition the M45 as well as the north and southbound on and off slips at Watford Gap services will be closed at the same time.

M1 junction 19, Leicestershire: road improvement scheme

In all cases diversion routes will be clearly signposted.

On Monday 21 November, the A14 eastbound from Catthorpe junction to junction 1 and the A14 westbound from junction 2 to Catthorpe junction will be closed overnight between 8pm and 6am.

The M6 southbound from junction 1 to Catthorpe junction (including the slip road for A14 traffic), the M1 southbound from junction 20 and lane 1 of the M1 northbound will be closed overnight between 9pm and 6am.

On Tuesday 22 November, the A14 eastbound from Catthorpe junction to junction 1 and lane 1 of the A14 westbound together with the A14 to M1 northbound link road will be closed overnight between 8pm and 6am.

Lane 3 of the M6 southbound together with the M6 to A14 link road, lanes 1 and 2 of the M1 southbound together with the M1 to A14 link road and the M1 northbound from junction 19 to junction 20 will be closed overnight between 9pm and 6am.

On Wednesday 23 November, the A14 westbound from junction 2 to Catthorpe junction and lane 1 of the A14 eastbound will be closed overnight between 8pm and 6am.

Lane 1 of the M1 northbound together with the M1 to M6 northbound link road and lanes 1 and 2 of the M6 southbound will be closed overnight between 9pm and 6am.

On Thursday 24 November, the A14 westbound from junction 2 to Catthorpe junction and lane 1 of the A14 eastbound will be closed overnight between 8pm and 6am.

Lane 1 of the M1 northbound together with the M1 to M6 northbound link road will be closed overnight between 9pm and 6am.
