Planned roadworks in East Midlands: Weekly summary for Monday 2 November to Sunday 8 November 2015

The following summary of planned new and ongoing road improvements over the coming week is correct as of 30 October but could be subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances. All our improvement work is carried out with the aim of causing as little disruption as possible.

M1 junction 16 to 19, Northamptonshire: Smart motorways preparatory work

There will be various restrictions in place to allow for the smart motorway preparatory work to be undertaken. These include speed restrictions, narrow lanes and hard shoulder running.

From Monday 2 November to Friday 6 November, the M1 northbound junction 16 to junction 18, including the M45 entry slip road, will be closed overnight from 9pm until 6am.

M1 northbound traffic will be diverted onto the A45 towards Flore at junction 16. Traffic will follow the A45 to the crossroads with the A5, before turning right at the traffic lights and following the A5 to re-join the M1 northbound at junction 18. The diversion route will be clearly signposted.

M1 junction 19, Leicestershire: Road improvement scheme

From Monday 2 November until Friday 6 November, the M6 southbound exit slip road to dumbbells will be closed from 9pm until 6am each night. There will be a full closure between the two dumbbells during this time. M6 to A14 traffic will be diverted off the M6 at junction 1, head north up the A426 to junction 20 on the M1, then south and off at junction 19.

A14 to M1 northbound traffic will be diverted up the M6 to junction 1, head north up the A426 and re-join the M1 at junction 20.

M1 junction 28 to 35a, Nottinghamshire/Derbyshire/Yorkshire: smart motorway

Until winter 2016, there will be various restrictions in place on the M1 between junctions 28 and 35a to allow for the construction of the Smart Motorway. These include lane closures, speed restrictions, hard shoulder running and overnight slip road or carriageway closures. This week, the following full closures will be in place:

  • on Monday 2 November, the M1 junction 28 northbound entry slip road will be closed from 8pm until 6am.
  • on Tuesday 3 November, the M1 junction 28 northbound entry slip road, the junction 30 northbound exit slip road and the junction 30 southbound entry slip road will be closed from 8pm until 6am.
  • on Wednesday 4 November, the M1 junction 29a northbound exit and entry slip roads, the M1 junction 28 southbound entry slip road and the M1 junction 34 entry slip road will be closed from 8pm until 6am.
  • on Thursday 5 November, the M1 junction 28 southbound entry slip road and the M1 junction 33 southbound entry slip road will be closed from 8pm until 6am.
  • from Friday 6 November to Sunday 8 November, the M1 junction 29a southbound exit and entry slip roads will be closed from 8pm until 6am each night.

A14 junction 7 to 3, Northamptonshire: Carriageway repairs

From Friday 30 October to Sunday 8 November there will be 24/7 layby closures of the westbound and carriageway closures.

At the A14 Junction 7, westbound A14 traffic will be diverted onto the A43 then A6003 towards Corby where it will be directed onto the A427 to Market Harborough and then southbound onto the A6 to rejoin the westbound A14 at Junction 3.

A38 Findern to Mickleover, Derbyshire: Horticulture, signage and white lining work

The northbound carriageway will be closed between Findern interchange and the A516-A38 northbound entry slip road from 8pm until 6am on Wednesday 4 November. Diversions will be clearly signposted.

A46 Newark, Nottinghamshire: Carriageway repairs

On Monday 2 November, the southbound entry and exit slip roads will be closed from 8pm until 6am.

On Wednesday 4 November, the northbound carriageway will be closed between Cattlemarket Roundabout and Brownhills roundabout from 8pm until 6am.

From Thursday 5 to Friday 6 November, the A46 southbound overbridge will be closed at the A1 interchange from 8pm until 6am.

Diversions will be clearly signposted.
