Planned roadworks in East Midlands: weekly summary for Monday 16 May to Sunday 22 May 2016

The following summary of planned new and on-going road improvements over the coming week is correct as of 13 May but could be subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances. All our improvement work is carried out with the aim of causing as little disruption as possible.

M1 junction 28 to 35a, Nottinghamshire/Derbyshire/Yorkshire: smart motorway

Until winter 2016, there will be various restrictions in place on the M1 between junctions 28 and 35a to allow for the construction of the smart motorway. These include lane closures, speed restrictions, hard shoulder running and overnight slip road or carriageway closures.

On Monday 16 May, the following overnight closures will be in place between 8pm and 6am:

  • the northbound entry and exit slip road at Woodall services
  • the southbound entry slip road at junction 32
  • the northbound entry slip road at junction 35

On Tuesday 17 May, the following overnight closures will be in place between 8pm and 6am:

  • the northbound entry and exit slip roads at Woodall services
  • the southbound exit slip road at junction 32

On Wednesday 18 May, the following overnight closures will be in place between 8pm and 6am:

  • the southbound entry and exit slip road at Woodall services
  • the southbound exit slip road at junction 32

On Thursday 19 May, the following overnight closures will be in place between 8pm and 6am:

  • the southbound entry and exit slip road at Woodall services
  • the M18 southbound to M1 northbound link closed

On Friday 20 May, the M18 southbound to M1 northbound link will be closed overnight between 8pm and 6am.

M1 junction 19, Leicestershire: improvement works

The M1 to M6 northbound link road will be closed overnight from 16 May until 20 May and M6 southbound from junction 1 will also be closed overnight from 18 May until 20 May. The roads will be closed between 9pm and 6am.

On 16 and 17 May the following diversions will be in place: M6 southbound traffic will exit at junction 1, head north-east onto the A426 and join the M1 at junction 20. M6 northbound traffic will continue north up the M1 to junction 20, head south-west down to the A426 and join the M6 at junction 1.

On 18, 19 and 20 May the following diversions will be in place: M6 northbound traffic will continue north up the M1 to junction 20, head south-west down to the A426 and join the M6 at junction 1.

M45 Dunchurch to junction 17 (M1), Northamptonshire: carriageway resurfacing

The M45 eastbound carriageway will be closed overnight until 5 June between 8pm and 6am. A diversion route will be fully signposted.

A1 Winthorpe to Apleyhead, Nottinghamshire: carriageway repairs

The carriageway will be closed overnight from 16 May until 21 May. It will be closed from 8pm to 5am. A diversion route will be fully signposted.

A5 Magna Park towards Wibtoft, Leicestershire: carriageway repairs

The northbound carriageway will be closed overnight from 16 May until 20 May. It will be closed from 8pm to 6am. A diversion route will be fully signposted.
