Planned roadworks in East Midlands: weekly summary for Monday 14 to Sunday 20 December 2015
The following summary of planned new and ongoing road improvements over the coming week is correct as of 11 December but could be subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances. All our improvement work is carried out with the aim of causing as little disruption as possible.
M1 junction 19, Leicestershire: road improvement scheme
There will be a number of road closures overnight from 9pm on 14 December until 6am on 15 December. The A14 westbound from junction 2 to Catthorpe junction will be closed, as will the M1 northbound carriageway at junction 19, and the westbound carriageway through the dumbbell islands.
For A14 to M1 northbound traffic, a diversion will take drivers to the A45 at junction 13, and south to join the M1 at junction 15.
M1 northbound traffic will be diverted up the M6 to junction 1, north on the A426 and then onto the M1 at junction 20.
There also will be two closures of the M1 to M6 northbound link road this week.
The road will be closed overnight to allow for resurfacing on the westbound carriageway from 9pm on 15 December to 6am on 16 December, and again from 9pm on 18 December until 6am on 19 December.
A diversion will take M1 to M6 northbound traffic onto the M1 at junction 20, south to the A426, and onto the M6 at junction 1.
M1 junction 28 to 35a, Nottinghamshire/Derbyshire/Yorkshire: smart motorway
Until winter 2016, there will be various restrictions in place on the M1 between junctions 28 and 35a to allow for the construction of the smart motorway. These include lane closures, speed restrictions, hard shoulder running and overnight slip road or carriageway closures.
This week, the following closures will be in place.
On Monday 14 December, the M1 junction 28 northbound entry slip road will be close between 8pm and 6am. At the same time, the j33 southbound exit and entry slips will be closed.
On Tuesday 15 December, the northbound entry slip road at junction 28 will be closed between 8pm and 6am. At the same time, the northbound exit and entry slip roads at junction 29a will be closed. The southbound up and over at junction 28 will also be closed between 8pm and 6am, as will the northbound exit slip road at junction 33.
On Wednesday 16 December, the exit and entry slip roads at junction 29a will be closed between 8pm and 6am, as will the southbound carriageway at Tibshelf services.
On Sunday 20 December, the southbound exit and entry slip roads at junction 28 will be closed between 8pm and 6am.
Diversions will be clearly signposted.
M1 junction 27, Trowell Services, Derbyshire/Nottinghamshire: structure works
The entry and exit slip roads on both northbound and southbound carriageways will be closed between 9pm on 14 December and 6am on 15 December. Diversions will be signposted.
A6 Alvaston to Thulston Roundabout, Derbyshire: road marking
The carriageway and roundabout will be closed from 8pm to 6am overnight on December 16 and December 17 for road marking. Diversions will be signposted.
A14 junction 8 to 9, Northamptonshire: electrical work
The eastbound exit slip road will be closed overnight from 9pm to 6am on 14, 15 and 16 December for electrical work. Diversions will be signposted.
A14 junction 2 Kelmarsh, Northamptonshire: sign installation
The westbound slip roads will be closed between 8pm and 6am overnight on 15, 16 and 17 December. Diversions will be signposted.
A45 Billing to Earls Barton, Northamptonshire: sign improvements
The northbound carriageway will be closed overnight between 8pm and 6am on 14, 15, 16 and 17 December. Diversions will be signposted.
A46 Newark, Nottinghamshire: carriageway repair
The carriageway will be closed overnight from 7pm to 6am on 14, 15 and 16 December. Diversions will be clearly signposted.
A52 junction 25 (M1), Derbyshire: electrical repairs
The eastbound entry slip road will be closed from 9pm on 20 December until 6am on 21 December for electrical repairs. Diversions will be signposted.
