Planned roadworks in East Midlands: Weekly summary for Monday 14 November to Sunday 20 November 2016

The following summary of planned new and ongoing road improvements over the coming week is correct as of 11 November but could be subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances. All our improvement work is carried out with the aim of causing as little disruption as possible.

M1 junction 32 to 35a, Nottinghamshire/Derbyshire/Yorkshire: smart motorway

Until winter 2016, there will be various restrictions in place on the M1 between junctions 32 and 35a to allow for the construction of the smart motorway. These include lane closures, speed restrictions, hard shoulder running and overnight slip road or carriageway closures.

  • On Monday 14 November, the southbound exit slip road will be closed at junction 35 and the southbound entry slip road closed at junction 34 will be closed overnight from 8pm until 6am.

  • On Tuesday 15 November, the northbound entry slip road at junction 30 and junction 33 will be closed overnight from 8pm until 6am.

  • On Wednesday 16 November, the northbound entry and exit slip road at junction 35 and the southbound up and over at junction 34 will be closed overnight from 8pm until 6am.
  • On Thursday 17 November, the southbound exit slip road will be closed at junction 33, the northbound exit slip road at junction 34, the northbound up and over at junction 35, the southbound up and over at junction 35 and the southbound up and over at junction 34 will be closed overnight from 8pm until 6am.
  • On Friday 18 November, the southbound exit slip road at junction 30, the southbound entry slip road at junction 35a and the southbound exit slip road at junction 34 will be closed overnight from 8pm until 6am. M1 junction 19, Leicestershire: road improvement scheme
  • On Monday 14 November, the A14 eastbound from Catthorpe junction to junction 1 and lane 1 of the A14 westbound will be closed overnight between 8pm and 6am.
  • On Monday 14 November, lane 3 of the M6 southbound together with the M6 to A14 link road and lanes 1 & 2 of the M1 southbound together with the M1 to A14 link road will be closed overnight between 9pm and 6am.
  • On Tuesday 15 November, the A14 eastbound from Catthorpe junction to junction 1 and lane 1 of the A14 westbound will be closed overnight between 8pm and 6am.
  • On Tuesday 15 November, the M6 southbound from junction 1 to Catthorpe junction (including the slip road for A14 traffic) and the M1 southbound from junction 20 to Catthorpe junction will be closed overnight between 9pm and 6am.
  • On Wednesday 16 November, the A14 eastbound from Catthorpe junction to junction 1 and lane 1 of the A14 westbound together with the A14 to M6 northbound link road will be closed overnight between 8pm and 6am.
  • On Wednesday 16 November, the M6 southbound from junction 1 to Catthorpe junction (including the slip road for A14 traffic) and the M1 southbound from junction 20 to Catthorpe junction will be closed overnight between 9pm and 6am.
  • On Thursday 17 November, lane 1 of the A14 westbound together with the A14 to M6 northbound link road and lane 1 of the A14 eastbound will be closed overnight between 8pm and 6am.
  • On Thursday 17 November, the M1 northbound from junction 18 to Catthorpe junction and the M6 northbound as far as junction 1 will be closed overnight between 9pm and 6am.
  • On Friday 18 November, the A14 westbound from junction 2 to Catthorpe junction and lane 1 of the A14 eastbound will be closed overnight between 8pm and 6am.
  • On Friday 18 November, lane 1 of the M1 northbound together with the M1 to M6 northbound link road and the M6 northbound as far as junction 1 will be closed overnight between 9pm and 6am.

A42, Leicestershire: carriageway repairs

Work will be taking place on the A42 from junction 13 (Ashby-de-la-Zouch) to the M1 junction at 23a (Castle Donington and East Midlands Airport). To complete the scheme, full carriageway closures will be required along with slip roads, with the following working hours:

  • From 9pm to 6am on weeknights (Monday to Friday).
  • From 9pm on Friday to 12am on Saturday and from 8pm on Saturday evening through to 12am on Sunday for extended overnight shifts.

As part of the scheme, lay-bys along the work area will be fully closed, 24 hours a day, during the project. This will help maintain safety and prevent parked vehicles causing disruption to the work programme.

A43 – Abthorpe roundabout, Northamptonshire: improvement scheme

There will be some lane closures on the carriageway along with reduced lane capacity on the roundabout itself as improvement work continues to take place
