The following summary of planned new and ongoing road improvements over the coming week is correct as of 9 December but could be subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances. All our improvement work is carried out with the aim of causing as little disruption as possible.

M1 junction 28 to 35a, Nottinghamshire/Derbyshire/Yorkshire: smart motorway

Until winter 2016, there will be various restrictions in place on the M1 between junctions 28 and 35a to allow for the construction of the smart motorway. These include lane closures, speed restrictions, hard shoulder running and overnight slip road or carriageway closures.

On Monday 12 December, the M18 southbound to M1 northbound link road will be closed and the M1 junction 34 exit slip road will be closed overnight from 8pm until 6am.

On Tuesday 13 December, the M18 southbound to M1 northbound link road, junction 33 of the M1 northbound entry slip road and the southbound exit slip road at junction 33 of the M1 will be closed overnight from 8pm to 6am.

On Wednesday 14 December, the M1 southbound entry slip road closed, the exit slip road at junction 33 and the southbound entry slip road is closed at junction 35a will be closed overnight from 8pm to 6am.

On Thursday 15 December, the northbound junction 34 up and over, the southbound up and over at junction 34, the southbound up and over at junction 33 and the M1 35a southbound entry slip road will all be closed overnight from 8pm to 6am.

On Friday 16 December, the northbound entry slip road at junction 33 and the southbound junction 34 up and over will be closed overnight from 8pm to 6am.

On Saturday 17 December, the M1 southbound exit at junction 32 will be closed overnight from 8pm until 6am.

On Sunday 18 December, the southbound exit slip road at junction 32 will be closed overnight from 8pm until 6am.

M1 junction 19 to 16, Northamptonshire: smart motorway

From Monday 12 December to Friday 16 December, the north and southbound carriageway will have two lanes closed between junctions 16 and 19 from 9pm to 6am.

M1 junction 19, Leicestershire: road improvement scheme

On Monday 12 December, Tuesday 13 December and Wednesday 14 December, the A14 eastbound from Catthorpe junction to junction 1 and the A14 westbound from junction 2 to Catthorpe junction will be closed overnight between 8pm and 6am.

On Monday 12 December, the M6 southbound from junction 1 and lane 1 of the M1 southbound together with the M1 to A14 eastbound link road will be closed overnight between 9pm and 6am.

On Tuesday 13 December, the M6 southbound from junction 1, lane 1 of the M1 southbound together with the M1 to A14 eastbound link road, lane 1 of the M1 northbound together with the M1 to M6 northbound link road and the M6 northbound as far as junction 1 will be closed overnight between 9pm and 6am.

On Wednesday 14 December, the M6 southbound from junction 1, lane 1 of the M1 southbound together with the M1 to A14 eastbound link road and lane 3 of the M6 northbound will be closed overnight between 9pm and 6am.

On Thursday 15 December, the M1 southbound from junction 20 to junction 19, the M1 northbound from junction 19 to junction 20 and lane 1 of the M6 to A14 eastbound link road will be closed overnight between 9pm and 6am.

On Friday 16 December, lane 1 of the M6 to A14 eastbound link road will be closed overnight between 9pm and 6am.

In all cases diversion routes will be clearly signposted.
