Planned roadworks in East Midlands: weekly summary for Monday 11 to Sunday 17 January 2016

The following summary of planned new and ongoing road improvements over the coming week is correct as of 8 January but could be subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances. All our improvement work is carried out with the aim of causing as little disruption as possible.

M1 junction 28 to 35a, Nottinghamshire/Derbyshire/Yorkshire: smart motorway

Until winter 2016, there will be various restrictions in place on the M1 between junctions 28 and 35a to allow for the construction of the smart motorway. These include lane closures, speed restrictions, hard shoulder running and overnight slip road or carriageway closures.

This week, the following closures will be in place:

  • Monday 11 January: the northbound entry slip road at junction 29, the northbound exit slip road at junction 34 and the northbound and southbound up and overs and junction 35 will be closed between 8pm and 6am
  • Tuesday 12 January: the northbound exit slip road at junction 34 and the southbound exit slip road at junction 33 will be closed between 8pm and 6am
  • Wednesday 13 January: the northbound exit slip road at junction 28, the northbound up and over and junction 34 and the southbound exit slip road at junction 33 will be closed between 8pm and 6am
  • Thursday 14 January: the northbound exit slip road at junction 34 and the southbound exit slip road at junction 33 will be closed between 8pm and 6am
  • Friday 15 January: the northbound entry slip road and the southbound exit slip road at junction 33 and the northbound exit slip road at junction 34 will be closed between 8pm and 6am
  • Saturday 16 January: the northbound up and over at junction 32 will be closed between 8pm and 6am
  • Sunday 17 January: the southbound up and over at junction 32 will be closed between 8pm and 6am

Diversions will be clearly signposted.

M1 junction 19, Leicestershire: road improvement scheme

On Monday 11 January, the M1 southbound exit slip road to junction 19, the M6 eastbound exit slip to junction 19, the A14 eastbound from the ‘dumbbell’ roundabouts to junction 1 and the M1 to M6 northbound link road will be closed between 9pm and 6am.

On Tuesday 12 January, the M1 northbound from junction 18, the M1 southbound from junction 20 and the A14 to M1 northbound link road will be closed between 9pm and 6am.

On Wednesday 13 and Thursday 14 January, the A14 westbound will be closed from junction 2 to Catthorpe junction.

A45 Billing to Earls Barton, Northamptonshire: sign improvements

The northbound carriageway will be closed overnight between 8pm and 6am until 13 January. Diversions will be signposted.

A50 - M1 junction 24, Leicestershire: carriageway resurfacing and barrier repairs

The eastbound carriageway will be closed overnight between Sawley interchange and Warren Lane roundabout from 12 to 15 January between 8pm and 6am.

A5 Mancetter, Warwickshire: carriageway repairs

The northbound and southbound carriageway will be closed between A444 Redgate Junction and Mancetter Island and the southbound carriageway only will be closed between A5 Holly Lane Roundabout and A5 Mancetter Island every night between 8pm and 6am from Monday 11 to Saturday 16 January.
