The following summary of planned new and ongoing road improvements over the coming week is correct as of 06 May but could be subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances. All our improvement work is carried out with the aim of causing as little disruption as possible.

M3 junctions 2 (M25) to 4a Farnborough, Hampshire: Smart motorway improvement

Work to reduce congestion and improve journey times continues this week with narrow lanes, a contraflow and a 50mph speed limit in place on both carriageways between junctions 2 and 4a, with a free recovery service operating 24 hours a day until the end of 2016.

The southbound carriageway between junctions 4 and 5 including junction 4 and 4a entry slip roads will be closed overnight with no access and exit to and from Fleet Services southbound, between 8pm and 5.30am, from Monday 9 May for 6 consecutive nights. Work on Friday and Saturday will take place between 8pm and 7am. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A331, A30 and A287.

The northbound and southbound entry slip roads at junction 3 will be closed overnight, between 8pm and 5.30am, from Monday 9 May for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A322 and A30.

The link road from the M3 southbound to the M25 clockwise will be closed overnight, between 8pm and 5.30am, from Wednesday 11 May for 3 nights. Work on Friday will be between 8pm and 7am. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M25 anti clockwise to junction 11 and return.

M3 junction 7 Basingstoke to 9 Winchester, Hampshire: road marking

Work to improve journeys by renewing the road markings along the M3 continues this week. The southbound carriageway will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Wednesday 11 May for 3 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A303 and A34.

M3 junction 11 Twyford/Winchester, Hampshire: traffic signal maintenance

Work to improve journeys by maintaining the road signals at junction 11 takes place this week. The southbound exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Thursday 12 May for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 12 (Eastleigh). In addition, temporary traffic lights will be in place on the B3335 Hockley Link during the same period.

M3 junctions 12 Chandlers Ford to 14 Chilworth, Hampshire: road marking

Work to improve journeys by renewing the road markings along the M3 continues this week. Lane closures will be in place on the northbound carriageway and the link roads from the M27 overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Tuesday 10 May. In addition, the northbound entry slip road at junction 13 will be closed during the same period, with a clearly signed diversion in place via the Chilworth Interchange.

M4 junctions 5 Slough to 7 Maidenhead, Berkshire: drainage and verge survey

Work to maintain safety by carrying out drainage and verge surveys as part of the forthcoming Smart Motorway project continues this week. Lane closures will be in place on both carriageways overnight, between 9pm and 6am, until the end of May (Monday to Friday only).

M4 junctions 8/9 Maidenhead to 11 Reading / Wokingham, Berkshire: drainage and verge survey

Work to maintain safety by carrying out drainage and verge surveys continues this week. Lane closures will be in place on both carriageways overnight, between 9pm and 6am, until the end of May (Monday to Friday only).

M4 junction 12 Reading, Berkshire: A4/Ikea resurfacing

Work to resurface the A4 and the junction 12 roundabout as part of the Ikea development continues this week. All slip roads at the junction will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, until Friday 10 June (Monday to Friday only). Clearly signed diversions will be in place via junctions 11 (Reading) and 13 (Chieveley).

M27 junction 3 Southampton, Hampshire: drainage survey

Work to improve journeys by carrying out drainage surveys along the M27 takes place this week. A lane closure will be in place between Rownhams Services and the junction 3 roundabout overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday 9 May for 4 nights.

M27 junctions 9 Whiteley to 11 Portsmouth, Hampshire: barrier repair

Work to improve safety by carrying out repairs to the central reserve barrier continues this week. Lane 3 of both carriageways will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, until Friday 20 May (Monday to Friday only).

M27 junction 11 Fareham to A27 Hilsea, Hampshire: road marking

Work to improve journeys by renewing the road markings along the M27 continues this week. The westbound carriageway will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday 9 May for 3 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A27.

M27 junctions 9 Parkgate to 8 Bursledon, Hampshire: road marking

Work to improve journeys by renewing road markings continues this week. The westbound carriageway will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Thursday 11 May for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A27.

M271 Southampton, Hampshire: drainage survey

Work to improve journeys by carrying out drainage surveys continues this week. Lane closures will be in place between the M27 and the A35 Redbridge Roundabout overnight, between 9pm and 6am, until Wednesday 18 May (Monday to Friday only).

A27 Portsmouth, Hampshire: street lighting

Work to maintain road user safety by installing new LED bulbs takes place this week. Lane closures will be in place on all slip roads at the A2030 Eastern Road junction overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday 9 May for 5 nights.

A34 Kings Worthy, Hampshire: pedestrian facility improvement

Work by Hampshire County Council to improve pedestrian facilities at the B3047 London Road junction continues this week. The Kings Worthy link road between the A34 and B3047 will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, until Thursday 26 May (Monday to Friday only). A clearly signed diversion will be in place via Winchester.

A34 Chilton interchange, Oxfordshire: junction improvement

Work to improve journey times and safety by constructing new slip roads and improving the layout of the Chilton interchange continues this week. The northbound exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, until the end of June (Monday to Friday only), with a clearly signed diversion in place via the Milton Interchange. Work is due to be completed in summer 2016.

A34 Oxford, Oxfordshire: resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by resurfacing the exit slip road at Hinksey Hill continues this week. The southbound exit slip road at the junction will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Monday 9 May and then again from Wednesday 11 May for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via Abingdon.

A34/A303 Bullington Cross, Hampshire: resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by resurfacing sections of the northern side of the junction continues this week. The A303 eastbound exit and entry slip roads at the junction will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday 9 May for 2 nights.. Clearly signed diversions will be in place via Micheldever and Three Maids Hill/Barton Stacey junctions.

In addition, the A34 northbound exit slip road will be closed over the same period, with a clearly signed diversion in place via Whitchurch.

A303 Parkhouse Cross, Wiltshire: resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by resurfacing the slip roads at the junction continues this week. The westbound exit and entry slip roads at the A338 junction will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Tuesday 10 May and again from Thursday 12 May for 2 nights. Clearly signed diversions will be in place via the Thruxton and Amesbury junctions.
