The following summary of planned new and ongoing road improvements over the coming week is correct as of 5 August but could be subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances. All our improvement work is carried out with the aim of causing as little disruption as possible.

M3 junctions 2 (M25) to 4a Farnborough, Hampshire: smart motorway improvement

Work to reduce congestion and improve journey times continues this week with narrow lanes, a contraflow and a 50mph speed limit in place on both carriageways between junctions 2 and 4a, with a free recovery service operating 24 hours a day until the end of 2016.

The northbound carriageway between junctions 3 and 2 including the junction 3 entry slip road and the clockwise and anti-clockwise link roads from the M3 junction 2 northbound to M25 junction 12 will be closed overnight, between 8pm and 5.30am, on Monday 8 August. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A322, A30 to junction 13 of the M25.

The southbound carriageway between junctions 3 and 4 including the junction 3 entry slip road and the junction 4 exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 8pm and 5.30am, on Monday 8 August. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A322, A30 and A331.

The southbound carriageway between junctions 4 and 4a including the junction 4 entry slip road and the junction 4a exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 8pm and 5.30am, on Tuesday 9 August. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A331, A30 and A327.

The northbound entry slip road at junction 3 will be closed, between 8pm and 5.30am, from Monday 8 August for 4 nights and between 8pm and 7am on Friday 12 August. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 4 or via A322, A30 to the M25 junction 13.

The southbound exit slip road at junctions 3 will be closed overnight, between 8pm and 5.30am, from Tuesday 9 August for 3 nights and between 8pm and 7am on Friday 12 August and Saturday 13 August. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 4 and return.

M3 junction 13 Eastleigh to Chilworth Interchange, Hampshire: street lighting

Work to ensure road user safety by maintaining the lighting columns along the M3 completes this week. Lane closures will be in place on the southbound carriageway overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday 8 August for 5 nights.

In addition, the southbound link to the Chilworth Roundabout will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday 8 August for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via M27 junction 5 and Bassett Green Road.

The northbound entry slip road at junction 13 will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Wednesday 10 August. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the Chilworth Roundabout.

M4 junctions 5 Slough to 7 Maidenhead, Berkshire: drainage and verge survey

Work to maintain safety by carrying out drainage and verge surveys continues this week. Lane closures will be in place on both carriageways overnight, between 9pm and 6am, until the autumn (Monday to Friday only).

M4 junction 8/9 Maidenhead, Berkshire: resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by resurfacing a section of the roundabout near the A404(M) takes place this week. The eastbound exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Thursday 11 August. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 7.

In addition, lane closures will be in place on the westbound exit slip road and roundabout during the same period.

The A404(M) northbound carriageway from the roundabout to junction 9a will also be closed during the same period, with a clearly signed diversion in place via Maidenhead.

M4 junctions 8/9 Maidenhead to 11 Reading/Wokingham, Berkshire: drainage and verge survey

Work to maintain safety by carrying out drainage and verge surveys continues this week. Lane closures will be in place on both carriageways overnight, between 9pm and 6am, until the autumn (Monday to Friday only).

M4 junctions 13 Chieveley to 12 Theale, West Berkshire: resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by resurfacing a section of the eastbound carriageway near Hermitage starts this week. The eastbound carriageway will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Friday 12 August.

A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A4.

M4 junctions 14 Hungerford, West Berkshire to 15 Swindon, Wiltshire: bridge survey

Work to improve journeys by carrying out structural surveys along the M4 continues this week. Lane closures will be in place on both carriageways overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday 8 August for 5 nights.

M27 junction 3 Southampton, Hampshire: bridge closure

Work to maintain safety by diverting utility cables as part of a scheme to replace the A3057 Romsey Road bridge continues this week. Narrow lane running will be in place on the bridge during both day and night time hours until Wednesday 31 August.

M27 junction 4 Southampton, Hampshire: signage

Work to ensure road users are kept informed by repairing damaged signage takes place this week. The eastbound link from the M27 to the M3 northbound carriageway will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Wednesday 10 August.

A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 5.

A3 Horndean to Petersfield, Hampshire: road marking

Work to improve journeys by renewing the road markings along the A3 between Petersfield and Horndean completes this week. The northbound carriageway between the A3(M) junction 2 and Petersfield will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday 8 August for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A3(M), M27, A32 and A272.

A3 Petersfield to Liss, Hampshire: road marking

Work to improve journeys by renewing the road markings along the A3 continues this week. Lane closures will be in place on both carriageways overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Wednesday 10 August for 3 nights. In addition, the northbound entry slip roads at Liss and Steep Marsh will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Wednesday 10 August. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the Petersfield junction.

The northbound entry slip road at the A272 Petersfield junction, will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Thursday 11 August. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the Weston junction.

A3 Liss, Hampshire: signage and road marking

Work to ensure road users are kept informed by repairing damaged signage takes place this week. The northbound exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Friday 12 August.

In addition, the southbound entry slip road at the Liss/Flexcombe junction will be closed overnight during the same period.

A clearly signed diversion will be in place for both closures via the Ham barn roundabout.

A3 Longmoor, Hampshire: signage

Work to ensure road users are kept informed by repairing damaged signage takes place this week. The southbound exit and entry slip roads will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Thursday 11 August. Clearly signed diversions will be in place via the Ham barn roundabout and Liphook junction.

A3 Griggs Green/Liphook, Hampshire: signage

Work to ensure road users are kept informed by repairing damaged signage takes place this week. The southbound exit slip road at the Griggs Green Interchange will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Monday 8 August.

Clearly signed diversions will be in place via the Longmoor junction.

A31 Rufus Stone Services, Hampshire: resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by resurfacing the damaged slip road into the service area takes place this week. The westbound exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 11pm and 5.30am, on Tuesday 9 August. No diversion will be in place due to the location of the works and an alternative not being available.

A31 Ringwood, Hampshire: signage

Work to ensure road users are kept informed by repairing damaged signage takes place this week. A lane on the eastbound carriageway will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Monday 8 August.

A34 Whitchurch, Hampshire: resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by resurfacing sections of the northbound carriageway near Whitchurch continues this week. The A34 northbound carriageway from Bullington Cross (A303) to Highclere Common will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, until Monday 15 August (Monday to Friday only).

A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A303, A3093 and A343.

A34 Chieveley, West Berkshire to Milton, Oxfordshire: drainage

Work to maintain road user safety by carrying out drainage maintenance along the A34 finishes this week. Lane closures will be in place on the northbound carriageway overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday 8 August for 5 nights.

A34 South Hinksey, Oxfordshire: signage

Work to ensure road users are kept informed by repairing damaged signage along the A34 takes place this week. The northbound exit and entry slip roads for South Hinksey village will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Tuesday 9 August.

Clearly signed diversions will be in place via the Hinksey Hill Interchange and Botley Interchange.

A34 Islip, Oxfordshire: signage

Work to ensure road users are kept informed by repairing damaged signage along the A34 takes place this week. The northbound exit and entry slip roads at the B4027 junction will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Tuesday 9 August.

Clearly signed diversions will be in place via the Weston-on-the-Green junction and the Peartree Interchange.

A34 Weston-on-the-Green, Oxfordshire: signage

Work to ensure road users are kept informed by repairing damaged signage along the A34 takes place this week. The southbound exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Wednesday 10 August. Clearly signed diversions will be in place via the Islip junction.

A303 Norton, Hampshire: signage

Work to ensure road users are kept informed by repairing damaged signage along the A303 takes place this week. The westbound exit and entry slip roads at the Norton junction will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Friday 12 August.

Clearly signed diversions will be in place via the Bullington Interchange and Micheldever junctions.
