The following summary of planned new and ongoing road improvements over the coming week is correct as of 4 March but could be subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances. All our improvement work is carried out with the aim of causing as little disruption as possible.

M3 junctions 2 (M25) to 4a Farnborough, Hampshire: smart motorway improvement

Work to reduce congestion and improve journey times continues this week with narrow lanes, a contraflow and a 50mph speed limit in place on both carriageways between junctions 2 and 4a, with a free recovery service operating 24 hours a day until the end of 2016.

The southbound carriageway between the slip roads at junction 2 – including the M25 anti-clockwise link road to M3 southbound – will be closed overnight, between 8pm and 5.30am, on Monday 7 March for five nights. On Friday work will take place between 8pm and 7am. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M25 junction 11.

The northbound carriageway between junctions 4 and 2 will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 5.30am, on Monday 7 March for five nights. On Friday work will take place between 8pm and 7am. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A331 and A30 to the M25 junction 13.

M4 junction 5 Slough, Berkshire: traffic signal maintenance

Work to improve journeys by maintaining the traffic signals at the junction finishes this week. Lane closures will be in place on all approaches and the roundabout overnight, between 9pm and 6am, until Wednesday 9 March.

M4 junction 6 Slough, Berkshire: traffic signal maintenance

Work to improve journeys by maintaining the traffic signals at the junction takes place this week. Lane closures will be in place on the eastbound approach overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday 7 March for 4 nights.

M4 junction 8/9 Maidenhead, Berkshire: traffic signal maintenance

Work to improve journeys by maintaining the traffic signals at the junction continues this week. Lane closures will be in place on all approaches and the roundabout overnight, between 9pm and 6am, until Monday 14 March (Monday to Friday only).

M4 junctions 12 Theale to 13 Chieveley, West Berkshire: verge works

Works to improve journeys by carrying out verge works will take place this week. Varied lane closures will be in place on the eastbound carriageway overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday 7 March for 4 nights.

M4 junctions 13 Chieveley to 14 Hungerford, West Berkshire: structure inspection

Work to improve journeys by carrying out structure surveys takes place this week. Lanes 1 and 2 of both the east and westbound carriageways will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Tuesday 8 March for 4 nights.

M4 junction 15 Swindon, Wiltshire: traffic signal maintenance

Work to improve journeys by maintaining the traffic signals at the junction starts this week. Lane closures will be in place on all approaches and the roundabout overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Thursday 10 March for 7 nights (Monday to Friday only).

M27 junctions 3 to 4 Nursling to Chilworth, Hampshire: structural inspection

Work to maintain the M27 takes place this week with structural inspections along the M27. The eastbound carriageway will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 6am, on Thursday 10 March. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M271, A3057 and A27.

M275 Portsmouth, Hampshire: carriageway maintenance

Work to maintain safety on the M275 takes place this week. The link road from the M27 westbound to the M275 southbound will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 6am, Monday 7 March. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M27 junction 11.

A27 Hilsea and Eastern Road Portsmouth, Hampshire: slip road resurfacing

Work to improve safety on the A27 slip roads continues this week. The Hilsea eastbound entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 6am, on Monday 7 March. The Eastern Road eastbound entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 6am, from Monday 7 March for 13 nights (Monday to Friday only). Clearly signed diversions will be in place via the A3(M) junction 5.

A3 Hampshire and Surrey: carriageway resurfacing

Work to improve road user safety by resurfacing sections of the A3 in Hampshire and Surrey takes place this week. The northbound carriageway will be closed from Longmoor to Compton overnight, between 10pm and 6am, from Monday 7 March for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A325 and A31.

A3 Queen Elizabeth County Park to Berelands, Hampshire: resurfacing

Work to improve road user safety by resurfacing sections of the A3 in Hampshire takes place this week. The northbound carriageway between Queen Elizabeth Country Park and Berelands will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 6am, from Monday 7 March for 15 nights (Monday to Friday only). A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the B2070 and A272 Sheet Link.

A31 West Moors, Hampshire: slip road resurfacing

Work to improve safety on slip roads along the A31 in Hampshire begins this week. The eastbound exit and entry slip roads will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 6am, from Monday 7 March for 8 nights (Monday to Friday only). Clearly signed diversions will be in place via Ameysford and Palmersford roundabouts.

A31 Bere Regis to Red Post, Dorset: drainage maintenance

Work to improve journeys by carrying out drainage maintenance along the A31 in Dorset continues this week. The A31 will be closed in both directions overnight, between 10pm and 6am, from Monday 7 March until mid-April (Monday to Friday only). A clearly signed diversion will be in place from the Roundhouse roundabout via the A350 and A35. Access will be maintained for residents living within the closure and managed locally on site.

A34 Three Maids Hill to Bullington Cross, Hampshire: drainage

Work to improve journeys by carrying out drainage maintenance along the A34 takes place this week. One lane on the northbound carriageway will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Monday 7 and Tuesday 8 March.

A34 Chilton interchange, Oxfordshire: junction improvement

Work to improve journey times and safety by constructing new slip roads and improving the layout of the Chilton interchange continues this week. The northbound exit slip road at the junction will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, until late spring (Monday to Friday only). Work is due to be completed in summer 2016.

A34 Milton interchange, Oxfordshire: junction improvement

Work to improve journey times and safety by improving the layout of the Milton interchange continues this week. Narrow lanes and a temporary speed limit will be in place 24/7. Work is due to be completed in spring 2016.

The northbound carriageway will be closed between the slip roads overnight, between 8pm and 6am, from Wednesday 9 March for two nights. This will allow the layout of the traffic management to be amended. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the Milton interchange.

The southbound exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 8pm and 6am, on Friday 11 March. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the West Ilsley junction.

A34 Kidlington, Oxfordshire: bridge joint repairs

Work to maintain journeys by undertaking bridge joint replacement will start this week. The A34 northbound carriageway between the A44 Peartree Interchange and the Kidlington junction will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 6am, on Monday 7, Wednesday 9 and Friday 11 March.

The A34 southbound carriageway will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 6am, on Tuesday 8 and Thursday 10 March.

Clearly signed diversions will be in place via the A4260 Frieze Way and Bicester Road.

A303 Popham to Bullington, Hampshire: resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by resurfacing sections of the westbound carriageway near Micheldever will finish this week. The westbound carriageway from the M3 to the A34 will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, until Thursday 10 March. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M3 or A33 to Winchester, and the A34.

A303 Thruxton, Hampshire: resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by resurfacing sections of both carriageways near Thruxton will start this week. The eastbound carriageway from the A338 Parkhouse Cross junction to Hundred Acre at Andover will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, until Thursday 10 March.

The westbound carriageway will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Friday 11 March until the end of March (Monday to Friday only).

Clearly signed diversions will be in place via the A338, Ludgershall and A342 Andover Road.

A308(M) Maidenhead, Berkshire: street lighting

Work to improve safety by installing new LED lighting along the A308(M) finishes this week. One lane on both carriageways will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, until Friday 11 March.

A404(M) Maidenhead, Berkshire: traffic signal maintenance

Work to improve journeys by maintaining the traffic signals at M4 junction 8/9 finishes this week. Lane closures will be in place on the A404(M) southbound carriageway overnight, between 9pm and 6am, until Friday 11 March.
