M3 junctions 2 (M25) to 4a Farnborough, Hampshire: smart motorway improvement

Work to reduce congestion and improve journey times by converting the M3 into a smart motorway continues this week. Narrow lanes and a 50mph speed limit will be in place on both carriageways between junctions 2 and 4a, with a free recovery service operating 24 hours a day.

The southbound carriageway between junctions 2 and 3 including the M25 junction 12 clockwise and anti-clockwise link roads to the M3 southbound and the junction 3 exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 8pm and 5.30am, from Monday 31 October for 5 nights. Work on Saturday morning will finish at 7am. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via M25 junction 13, A30 and A322.

The northbound carriageway between junction 3 and 2 including the junction 3 entry slip road and clockwise and anti-clockwise link roads from the M3 junction 2 northbound to M25 junction 12 will be closed overnight, between 8pm and 5.30am, from Monday 31 October for 5 nights. Work on Saturday morning will finish at 7am. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A322, A30 and M25.

The southbound carriageway between junctions 3 and 4 including the junction 3 entry slip road and the junction 4 exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 8pm and 5.30am, from Monday 31 October for 6 nights. Work on Saturday and Sunday morning will finish at 7am. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A322, A30 and A331.

The southbound carriageway between junctions 4 and 4a including junction 4 entry slip road and junction 4a exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 8pm and 5.30am, from Monday 31 October for 5 nights. Work on Saturday morning will finish at 7am. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A327, A30 and A331.

M4 junction 8/9 Maidenhead, Berkshire: drainage

Work to maintain road user safety by carrying out drainage maintenance starts this week. Lane closures will be in place on the east and westbound approaches and at the junction overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Tuesday 1 November for 9 nights (Monday to Friday only).

M4 junction 10 Wokingham, Berkshire: bridge reconstruction

Work to refurbish the bridge which carries the link roads over the M4 continues this week. 24 hour, narrow lane running and a 40mph speed restriction is in place on the slip roads, and a 50mph speed limit is in place on the M4 carriageway until November 2017.

The exit slip road from the M4 westbound carriageway to the A329(M) Reading-bound carriageway will be closed from 9pm on Friday 4 November through to 6am on Monday 7 November.

A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 11 and return.

M4 junction 13 Chieveley, West Berkshire: bridge joint replacement

Work to maintain journeys by undertaking bridge joint replacement starts this week. The westbound carriageway between the slip roads will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 6am, from Monday 31 October for 8 nights (Monday to Friday only). A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the exit and entry slip roads.

M4 junction 14 Hungerford, West Berkshire: drainage maintenance

Work to maintain road user safety by carrying out drainage maintenance takes place this week. Lane closures will be in place on the east and westbound approaches and at the junction overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Thursday 3 November for 2 nights.

M27 Chilworth, Hampshire: resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by resurfacing a section of both carriageways near Chilworth starts this week. The eastbound carriageway between junctions 4 and 5 and the link road from the M3 southbound to the M27 eastbound will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 6am, from Monday 31 October for 3 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M3 to junction 12 and return to the Chilworth Roundabout, Bassett Green Road and Stoneham Way.

In addition, the westbound carriageway between junctions 5 and 4 and the link road to the M3 from the M27 westbound carriageway will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 6am, from Thursday 3 November for 3 nights (Monday to Friday only). A clearly signed diversion will be in place via Stoneham Lane, Bassett Green Road to the Chilworth Roundabout, and the M3 to junction 12 and return.

A3 Guildford, Surrey: lighting

Work to maintain road user safety by replacing damaged parts on selected lighting columns takes place this week. The northbound carriageway from Compton to the Stoke Interchange at Guildford will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Monday 31 October. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the B3000, A31 Hogs Back and Guildford.

The southbound carriageway from the Stoke Interchange at Guildford to the A31 Hogs Back will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Tuesday 1 November. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via Guildford and the A31 Farnham Road.

A27 Bedhampton to Warblington, Hampshire: lighting

Work to maintain road user safety by replacing damaged parts on selected lighting columns takes place this week. The eastbound carriageway from the A3(M) to the Warblington junction will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, from Wednesday 2 November for 2 nights. In addition, the westbound slip roads at the Bedhampton/Harts Farm junction will also be closed during the same period.

Various clearly signed diversions will be in place during the closures including:

  • The main diversion will be signed from the A3(M) junction 5 via Bedhampton Hill, Bedhampton Road, New Road, B2149 Petersfield Road, Bartons Road, Horndean Road and Southleigh Road back to the Warblington junction.
  • Traffic for the A3(M) from the A27 westbound will be diverted west along the A27 to the A2030 Eastern Road junction and return and the A3(M)
  • Traffic for Harts Farm Way will be diverted via Solent Road and Park Road South

Lane closures will be in place on the westbound carriageway from the Warblington junction to the A3(M) overnight, between 10pm and 6am, from Friday 4 November for 2 nights (Monday to Friday only). In addition, the westbound entry slip roads at the Warblington and Langstone junctions will be closed during the same period.

Clearly signed diversions will be in place via the next available junctions.

A34 Litchfield to Whitchurch, Hampshire: drainage

Work to maintain road user safety by carrying out drainage maintenance takes place this week. A lane closure will be in place on both carriageways overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday 31 October for 5 nights.

A34 Marcham (A415), Oxfordshire: drainage

Work to maintain road user safety by carrying out drainage maintenance takes place this week. Lane closures will be in place on both approaches and at the junction overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday 31 October for 7 nights (Monday to Friday only).

A34 Oxford, Oxfordshire: road marking

Work to improve journeys by renewing road markings along the A34 continues this week. The southbound entry slip road at the Hinksey Hill junction will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Monday 31 October.

A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the Botley Interchange.
