The following summary of planned new and ongoing road improvements over the coming week is correct as of 26 February but could be subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances. All our improvement work is carried out with the aim of causing as little disruption as possible.

M3 junctions 2 (M25) to 4a Farnborough, Hampshire: smart motorway improvement

Work to reduce congestion and improve journey times continues this week with narrow lanes, a contraflow and a 50mph speed limit in place on both carriageways between junctions 2 and 4a, with a free recovery service operating 24 hours a day until the end of 2016.

The northbound carriageway between junctions 5 and 3 including junction 5, 4a and 4 entry slip roads will be closed overnight with no access to Fleet Services northbound, between 9pm and 5.30am, on Monday 29 February. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A287, A30, A322 to the junction 3 entry slip road northbound.

The northbound carriageway between junctions 4 and 2 including junctions 4 and 3 entry slip roads will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 5.30am, from Tuesday 1 March for 4 nights. On Friday the closure will take place between 9pm and 7am. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A331 and A30.

The southbound carriageway between the slip roads at junction 2 including the M25 anti-clockwise link road to the M3 southbound will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 5.30am, from Monday 29 February for 5 nights. On Friday the closure will take place between 9pm and 7am. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via M3 junction 2 southbound off slip to M25 anti-clockwise to M25 junction 11 anti-clockwise off slip to M25 junction 11 clockwise entry slip to M25 junction 12 off slip clockwise to M3 southbound.

M3 junctions 7 Basingstoke to 9 to Winchester, Hampshire: structural inspection

Work to maintain road user safety on the M3 takes place this week. The southbound carriageway will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 6am, on Monday 29 February. The northbound carriageway between junctions will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 6am, on Tuesday 1 March. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A34, A303 and A30.

M4 junction 5 Slough, Berkshire: traffic signal maintenance

Work to improve journeys by maintaining the traffic signals at the junction will start this week. Lane closures will be in place on all approaches and the roundabout overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Wednesday 24 February for 2 weeks (Monday to Friday only).

M4 junction 8/9 Maidenhead, Berkshire: traffic signal maintenance

Work to improve journeys by maintaining the traffic signals at the junction continues this week. Lane closures will be in place on all approaches and the roundabout overnight, between 9pm and 6am, until Tuesday 8 March (Monday to Friday only).

M4 junctions 10 Wokingham to 11 Reading, Berkshire: bridge installation

Work to improve journeys by installing the new Reading University Bridge near Shinfield continues this week. The M4 between junctions 10 and 11 will be closed in both directions overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Friday 26 and Saturday 27 February. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the B3270 and A329(M).

The new bridge is being installed over the M4, as part of the construction of the new Shinfield Eastern Relief Road, by HOCHTIEF (UK) Construction on behalf of the University of Reading.

M27 junction 12 to Hilsea Portsmouth, Hampshire: carriageway resurfacing

Work to improve road user safety by resurfacing sections of the M27 and A27 carriageway begins this week. The eastbound carriageway will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 6am, from Monday 29 February for 6 nights (Monday to Friday only). A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A27 Western Road.

M275 Portsmouth, Hampshire: carriageway maintenance

Work to maintain safety on the M275 takes place this week. The link road from the M275 northbound to the M27 eastbound will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 6am, from Monday 29 February for 6 nights (Monday to Friday only). A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A2030.

A27 Hilsea and Eastern Road Portsmouth, Hampshire: slip road resurfacing

Work to improve safety on the A27 slip roads continues this week. The eastbound entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 6am, from Monday 29 February for 6 nights (Monday to Friday only). Clearly signed diversions will be in place via the A3(M) junction 5.

A3 Surrey: slip road lighting maintenance

Work to improve safety by maintaining lighting on the A3 slip roads in Surrey takes place this week. The Stoke Interchange southbound exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 6am, on Tuesday 1 March. The Burpham northbound entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 6am, on Wednesday 2 March. Clearly signed diversions will be in place via the A3100 or next available junction.

A3 Hindhead Tunnel, Surrey: routine maintenance

Work to maintain road user safety through the Hindhead Tunnel takes place this week. The northbound tunnel will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 6am, from Monday 29 February for 4 nights. Road users will be diverted through the southbound tunnel in contraflow under a 40mph speed limit.

A3 Longmoor, Hampshire: slip road lighting maintenance

Work to improve safety by maintaining lighting on the A3 slip roads in Hampshire takes place this week. The Liss southbound exit and entry slip roads and the Longmoor northbound entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 6am, on Monday 29 February. Clearly signed diversions will be in place via the B2070 or next available junction.

A3 Weston, Hampshire: sign repair

Work to repair damaged road signs on slip roads along the A3 in Hampshire takes place this week. The northbound entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 6am, on Monday 29 February. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via Queen Elizabeth Country Park.

A31 West Moors, Hampshire: slip road resurfacing

Work to improve road user safety on slip road along the A31 in Hampshire begins this week. The eastbound exit and entry slip roads will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 6am, from Monday 29 February for 13 nights (Monday to Friday only). Clearly signed diversions will be in place via Ameysford and Palmersford roundabouts.

A31 Bere Regis to Red Post, Dorset: drainage maintenance

Work to improve journeys by carrying out drainage maintenance along the A31 in Dorset continues this week. The A31 will be closed in both directions overnight, between 10pm and 6am, from Monday 29 February until mid-April (Monday to Friday only). A clearly signed diversion will be in place from the Roundhouse roundabout via the A350 and A35. Access will be maintained for residents living within the closure and managed locally on site.

A34 Winchester, Hampshire: vegetation management

Work to improve road user safety by carrying out vegetation clearance will take place this week. Varied lane closures will be in place on both carriageways and at the Winnall Roundabout overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday 29 February for 2 nights.

A34 Chilton interchange, Oxfordshire: junction improvement

Work to improve journey times and safety by constructing new slip roads and improving the layout of the Chilton interchange continues this week. The northbound exit slip road at the junction will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, until late spring (Monday to Friday only). Work is due to be completed in summer 2016.

A34 Milton interchange, Oxfordshire: junction improvement

Work to improve journey times and safety by improving the layout of the Milton interchange continues this week. Narrow lanes and a temporary speed limit will be in place 24/7. Work is due to be completed in spring 2016.

A34 Marcham, Oxfordshire: resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by resurfacing the northbound entry slip road will take place this week. The slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 6am, from Monday 29 February for 3 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the Milton Interchange.

A34 Botley to Peartree Interchanges, Oxfordshire: parapet repair

Work to maintain journeys by undertaking maintenance to the bridge parapets near Godstow will start this week. One lane on both carriageways will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, until Friday 4 March (Monday to Friday only).

A34 Weston-on-the-Green, Oxfordshire: sign repair

Work to improve safety by carrying out repairs to a damaged sign will take place this week. The southbound exit slip road at Weston-on-the-Green will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Tuesday 1 March. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via Islip.

A303 Popham to Bullington, Hampshire: resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by resurfacing sections of the westbound carriageway near Micheldever will start this week. The westbound carriageway from the M3 to the A34 will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 6am, from Wednesday 2 March for 7 nights (Monday to Friday only). A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M3 or A33 to Winchester, and the A34.

A303 Thruxton, Hampshire: resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by resurfacing sections of both carriageways near Thruxton will start this week. The eastbound carriageway from the A338 Parkhouse Cross junction to Hundred Acre at Andover will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 6am, from Monday 29 February for 9 nights (Monday to Friday only). A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A338, Ludgershall and A342 Andover Road.

A308(M) Maidenhead, Berkshire: street lighting

Work to improve safety by installing new LED lighting along the A308(M) continues this week. One lane on both carriageways will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, until Friday 11 March (Monday to Friday only).

A404(M) Maidenhead, Berkshire: traffic signal maintenance

Work to improve journeys by maintaining the traffic signals at M4 junction 8/9 will continue this week. As part of these works, there will be lane closures in place on the A404(M) southbound carriageway overnight, between 9pm and 6am, until Friday 11 March (Monday to Friday only).
