The following The following summary of planned new and ongoing road improvements over the coming week is correct as of 25 November but could be subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances. All our improvement work is carried out with the aim of causing as little disruption as possible.

M3 junctions 2 (M25) to 4a Farnborough, Hampshire: Smart motorway improvement

Work to reduce congestion and improve journey times continues this week with narrow lanes a 50mph speed limit in place on both carriageways between junctions 2 and 4a, with a free recovery service operating 24 hours a day.

The southbound carriageway between junctions 2 and 4 will be closed overnight, between 8pm and 5.30am, from Monday 28 November for 6 consecutive nights. Work on Saturday and Sunday mornings will finish at 7am. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via M25 junction 13, A30 and the A331.

The northbound carriageway between junctions 3 and 2 will be closed overnight, between 8pm and 7am, on Saturday 3 December. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A322 and A30 to M25 junction 13.

The northbound carriageway between junctions 4 and 2 will be closed overnight, between 8pm and 5.30am, from Monday 28 November for 5 nights. Work on Saturday morning will finish at 7am. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A331, A30 and M25 junction 13.

The dedicated link road from the M3 southbound to the M25 clockwise will be closed overnight, between 8pm and 5.30am, from Monday 28 November for 5 nights. Work on Saturday morning will finish at 7am. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M25 anti-clockwise to junction 11 and return.

M3 junction 6 Basingstoke, Hampshire:

Work to improve journeys by carrying out surveys at the junction takes place this week. Lane closures will be in place on all approaches to the junction overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Wednesday 30 November for 2 nights.

M3 junction 7 Dummer, Hampshire: vegetation management

Work to improve journeys by carrying out vegetation management takes place this week. Lane closures will be in place on the southbound carriageway overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Friday 2 December.

M4 junctions 6 to 7 Slough to Maidenhead, Berkshire: street lighting

Work to maintain road user safety by replacing damaged parts on selected lighting columns takes place this week. Lane closures will be in place on both carriageways overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Friday 2 December.

M4 junction 8/9 Maidenhead, Berkshire: drainage

Work to improve journeys by carrying out drainage maintenance at the junction starts this week. The westbound exit and entry slip roads at the junction and one lane on the roundabout will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday 28 November for 2 weeks (Monday to Friday only). Clearly signed diversions will be in place via the adjacent junctions.

M4 junction 10 Wokingham, Berkshire: bridge reconstruction

Work to refurbish the bridge which carries the link roads over the M4 continues this week. Narrow lanes and a 40mph speed limit are in place on the slip roads, and a 50mph speed limit is in place on the M4 carriageway until November 2017.

M4 junctions 11 to 12 Reading, Berkshire: resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by resurfacing sections of both carriageways near Pingewood continues this week. The westbound carriageway will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 6am, until Wednesday 7 December (Monday to Friday only). A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A33 and A4. In addition, lane closures will be in place on the eastbound carriageway overnight, between 10pm and 6am, from Thursday 1 December for 2 nights.

Access to Moto Reading Service Area (westbound) will be unavailable during these closures – the nearest service area is off the M4 at junction 13 (Chieveley).

M4 junctions 13 to 12 Chieveley to Theale, Berkshire: resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by resurfacing a section of the eastbound carriageway near Frilsham starts this week. The eastbound carriageway will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 6am, from Monday 28 November for 4 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A4.

In addition, lane closures will then be in place on the eastbound carriageway overnight, between 10pm and 6am, on Friday 2 December.

M27 junction 2 Ower (Southampton), Hampshire: bridge survey

Work to improve journeys by carrying out structural surveys at the junction takes place this week. Lanes 2 and 3 of both carriageways will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Wednesday 30 November for 2 nights.

M27 junctions 3 to 4 Southampton, Hampshire: drainage survey

Work to improve journeys by carrying out drainage surveys takes place this week. Lane closures will be in place on both carriageways and the link roads to the M3 overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday 28 November for 5 nights.

M27 junction 7 Hedge End, Hampshire: drainage survey

Work to improve journeys by carrying out drainage surveys takes place this week. Lane closures will be in place on both carriageways overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Wednesday 30 November for 2 nights.

M27 junctions 9 to 10 Whiteley to Fareham, Hampshire: resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by resurfacing a section of the westbound carriageway starts this week. The westbound exit slip road at junction 9 and lanes 1 and 2 of the main westbound carriageway will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 6am, from Monday 28 November for 5 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 8.

M27 junction 12 Portsmouth, Hampshire: resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by resurfacing the link road from junction 12 to the M275 southbound finishes this week. The eastbound link road from M27 to the M275 southbound and the westbound exit slip road to the M275 southbound will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 6am, until Friday 2 December.

Clearly signed diversions will be in place via junction 11 and the A2030 Eastern Road roundabout.

A3 Liss to Ham Barn, Hampshire: vegetation management

Work to improve journeys by carrying out vegetation management takes place this week. Lane 1 of the northbound carriageway will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Monday 28 November.

A3 Longmoor to Liphook, Hampshire: vegetation management

Work to improve journeys by carrying out vegetation management takes place this week. Lane 1 of the northbound carriageway will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Tuesday 29 November.

A3 Guildford, Surrey: vegetation management

Work to improve journeys by carrying out vegetation management takes place this week. Lane 1 of the northbound carriageway will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Wednesday 30 November.

A31 Winterbourne Zelston, Dorset: drainage survey

Work to improve journeys by carrying out drainage surveys finishes this week. Temporary traffic lights are in place on the A31 near the Worlds End Inn overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday 28 November for 2 nights.

A34 Three Maids Hill (Winchester), Hampshire: drainage survey

Work to improve journeys by carrying out drainage surveys takes place this week. Lane closures will be in place on the northbound carriageway overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday 28 November for 2 nights.

A34 Chieveley, West Berkshire: resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out repairs to the carriageway takes place this week. Lane closures will be in place on the southbound carriageway on the approach to the M4 roundabout overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Tuesday 29 November.

In addition, lane 1 of the northbound carriageway will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Wednesday 30 November.

A34 Oxford, Oxfordshire: drainage survey

Work to improve journeys by carrying out drainage surveys between the Peartree and Hinksey Hill Interchanges takes place this week. Lane closures will be in place on both carriageways overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday 28 November for 5 nights.
