Planned roadworks in Central Southern England: Weekly summary for Monday 27 July to Sunday 2 August 2015

Work to reduce congestion and improve journey times continues this week with narrow lanes, a contra-flow and a 50mph speed limit in place on both carriageways between junctions 2 and 4a, with a free recovery service operating 24 hours a day until the end of 2016.

M3 junctions 2 (M25) to 4a Farnborough, Hampshire: Smart motorway improvement

The northbound carriageway between junctions 3 and 2 will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 5.30am, from Monday 27 July for 3 nights. The northbound carriageway between junctions 4a and 3 will be closed overnight on Thursday 30 July between 9pm and 5.30am, on Friday 31 July between 10pm and 6am and on Saturday 1 August between 9pm and 6am. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A30 London Road.

M3 junction 6 Basingstoke, Hampshire: Black Dam improvement

Work to reduce congestion and improve journey times across the Black Dam roundabout near Basingstoke continues this week. Narrow lanes, a 30mph speed limit and off-peak lane closures will be in place on the approaches and around the roundabout until autumn 2015.

M3 junctions 6 Basingstoke to 8 Popham, Hampshire: Bridge waterproofing

Work to improve safety by replacing bridge waterproof membranes and expansion joints begins this week. Narrow lanes and a 50mph speed limit will be in place in both directions between junctions 6 and 8 until mid-December.

M4 junction 10 Wokingham, Berkshire: Junction improvement

Work to ease congestion by widening the slip roads and remarking lanes at the junction continues this week. 24 hour narrow lanes are in place on the link roads joining the A329(M) in both directions. In addition, lane closures will be in place on the link roads overnight, between 9pm and 6am, (Monday to Friday only).

The eastbound exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday 27 July for 4 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 8/9. The work is due to be completed in early September.

M4 junctions 11 to 12 Reading, Berkshire: Railway bridge repair

Work to maintain safety by replacing the joint and waterproofing material on the Mortimer Line Railway Bridge continues this week. The eastbound carriageway will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 6am, on Monday 27 July and the westbound carriageway overnight, between 10pm and 6am, on Tuesday 28 July to change the layout of the traffic management. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A4 Bath Road and the A33. In addition, narrow lanes and a 50mph speed limit are in place 24/7 on both carriageways, with lane closures in place overnight, between 9pm and 6am (Monday to Friday only) on nights not affected by the carriageway closures. Work is due to be completed in September.

M4 junctions 12 Theale to 13 Chieveley, West Berkshire: Carriageway repair

Work to improve safety by resurfacing sections of the M4 eastbound carriageway between Theale and Hermitage continues this week. The eastbound carriageway will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 6am, until Tuesday 4 August (Monday to Friday only).

M4 junctions 13 Chieveley to 14 Hungerford, West Berkshire: Bridge repair

Work to maintain safety and improve journeys by replacing bridge joints and beams at the Chieveley Interchange and Welford Viaduct continues this week. 24 hour narrow lanes, a contraflow and a 50mph speed limit are in place on both carriageways between junction 13 and junction 14. Work is due to be completed in September.

M4 junctions 14 Hungerford, West Berkshire to 15 Swindon, Wiltshire: Drainage and road marking renewal

Work to improve safety by maintaining the drainage along the M4 between Hungerford and Swindon continues this week. Lane closures are in place in both directions overnight, between 9pm and 6am, until Friday 31 July.

M27 junction 3 Nursling, Hampshire: Junction improvement

Work to improve journeys and reduce congestion continues this week. The westbound exit and entry slip roads, the M271 southbound (between the A3057 Romsey Road roundabout and junction 3 of the M27), and the M271 northbound (between M271 junction 1 and M27 junction 3) will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 4am, from Monday 27 July for 10 nights (Monday to Friday only). A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 2. Narrow lanes and a 50mph speed limit will remain in place until early August.

M27 junction 5 Eastleigh, Hampshire: Junction improvement

Work to improve journeys and reduce congestion on the northern side of the junction 5 roundabout is continuing this week. The eastbound exit and entry slip roads will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 6am, from Monday 27 July for 5 nights. Clearly signed diversions will be in place via junctions 7 and 2.

Narrow lanes and a reduced speed limit will remain in place until completion in early August.

A3 Liphook to Ham Barn, Hampshire: Carriageway resurfacing

Work to improve safety by resurfacing sections of the A3 in Hampshire continues this week. The southbound carriageway will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday 27 July for 8 nights (Monday to Friday only). A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the B2070 and B3006.

A3 Berelands to Weston, Hampshire: Carriageway resurfacing

Work to improve safety by resurfacing sections of the A3 in Hampshire takes place this week. The southbound carriageway will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Wednesday 29 July for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the B2070.

A27 Eastern Road to Langstone: Vehicle detector loop installation

Work to improve driver information systems by installing vehicle detector equipment takes place this week. The eastbound carriageway between the A2030 Eastern Road and the A3023 Langstone will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Friday 31 July for 3 consecutive nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via Havant Road and the B2177.

A31 Cadnam to Ashley Heath, Hampshire: Carriageway resurfacing

Work to improve road user safety by resurfacing sections of the A31 carriageway between Cadnam and Ashley Heath takes place this week. The eastbound carriageway will be closed between the Ashley Heath roundabout and M27 junction 2 at Ower overnight, between 10pm and 6am, from Monday 27 July for 2 nights. The westbound carriageway between M27 junction 2 and Ashley Heath roundabout will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 6am, from Wednesday 29 July for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A326, A35 and A338.

A34 Chilton to Milton, Oxfordshire: Drainage

Work to improve safety by maintaining the drainage along the A34 near Didcot continues this week. A lane of the A34 northbound carriageway will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 6am, until Friday 31 July.

A34 Milton interchange, Oxfordshire: Junction improvement

Work to improve journey times and safety by improving the layout of the Milton interchange continues this week. Narrow lanes and a temporary speed limit will be in place 24/7. Work is due to be completed in spring 2016.

A303 Micheldever, Hampshire: Resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by resurfacing the carriageway at the Micheldever Station junction takes place this week. The eastbound carriageway between the exit for the A34 (Bullington Cross) and the M3 will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 6am, on Wednesday 29 July. The westbound carriageway along the same section will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 6am, on Thursday 30 July. Clearly signed diversions will be in place via the A34 and A33 for non-motorway vehicles and the A34 and M3 for motorway permitted vehicles.

A303 Longparish to Andover, Hampshire: Sign maintenance

Work to keep road users informed by updating the signage near Harewood Forest continues this week. A lane will be closed on the westbound carriageway overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday 27 July for 5 nights.

A404(M) Maidenhead, Berkshire: Carriageway survey

Work to improve journeys by carrying out carriageway surveys starts this week. Lane closures will be in place on both carriageways overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday 27 July for 7 nights (Monday to Friday only).
