The following summary of planned new and ongoing road improvements over the coming week is correct as of 22 January but could be subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances. All our improvement work is carried out with the aim of causing as little disruption as possible.

M3 junctions 2 (M25) to 4a Farnborough, Hampshire: smart motorway improvement

Work to reduce congestion and improve journey times continues this week with narrow lanes, a contraflow and a 50mph speed limit in place on both carriageways between junctions 2 and 4a, with a free recovery service operating 24 hours a day until the end of 2016.

The northbound carriageway between junctions 5 and 3 including junction 5, 4a and 4 entry slip roads will be closed overnight with no access to Fleet Services, between 9pm and 5.30am, from Monday 25 January for 5 nights. Work on Friday will be between 9pm and 7am on. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A287, A30 and A322 to the junction 3 northbound entry slip road.

M3 junction 6 Basingstoke, Hampshire: Black Dam improvement

Work to reduce congestion and improve journey times across the Black Dam roundabout near Basingstoke continues this week. Narrow lanes, a 30mph speed limit and off-peak lane closures are in place on the approaches and the roundabout until March 2016.

The M3 junction 6 northbound exit slip road, M3 Spur northbound, both directions of the A339, A30 Ringway South eastbound and A30 London Road eastbound will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, from Monday 25 January for 2 nights.

The M3 junction 6 northbound exit slip road, M3 Spur northbound and A339 northbound will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Wednesday 27 January.

The A30 London Road in both directions will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, from Thursday 28 January for 2 nights.

The northbound spur from the M3 and A30 London Road westbound will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, from Saturday 30 January for 2 consecutive nights.

Clearly signed diversions will be in place via the M3, A30 and local roads.

M4 junctions 5 Slough to 7 Maidenhead, Berkshire: drainage and street lighting maintenance

Work to improve safety by maintaining the street lighting and undertaking surveys of the drainage system continues this week. Lane closures will be in place on both carriageways overnight, between 9pm and 6am, until Friday 12 February (Monday to Friday only).

M4 junctions 7 to 8/9 Maidenhead, Berkshire: drainage survey

Work to maintain safety by carrying out surveys of the drainage system continues this week. Lane closures will be in place on both carriageways and the slip roads at junction 8/9 overnight, between 9pm and 6am, until Friday 5 February (Monday to Friday only).

M4 junction 10 Wokingham, Berkshire: sign installation

Work to install additional lane designation signs to aid drivers using the junction finishes this week. The slip roads and merge onto the A329(M) Wokingham-bound carriageway will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday 25 January for 5 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A329(M) Reading-bound carriageway and the Winnersh Triangle junction.

M4 junctions 11 to 12 Reading, Berkshire: street lighting

Work to improve safety by maintaining the street lighting along the M4 continues this week. 2 lanes on both carriageways will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday 25 January for 5 nights.

M4 junctions 13 Chieveley to 14 Hungerford, West Berkshire: drainage survey

Work to improve safety by carrying out surveys of the drainage system continues this week. Lane closures will be in place on both carriageways and the slip roads at junction 8/9 overnight, between 9pm and 6am, until Friday 5 February (Monday to Friday only).

M271 junction 1 Southampton, Hampshire: junction improvement

Work to increase capacity begins this week as part of the new Lidl development at Nursling, with 24hr narrow lanes on the north and southbound exit slip roads until November 2016.

A31 Bere Regis to Red Post, Dorset: drainage maintenance

Work to improve drainage along the A31 in Dorset continues this week. The A31 will be closed in both directions overnight, between 10pm and 6am, from Monday 25 January until the end of March (Monday to Friday only). A clearly signed diversion will be in place from the Roundhouse roundabout via the A350 and A35. Access will be maintained for residents living within the closure and managed locally on site.

A34 Winchester, Hampshire: drainage survey

Work to maintain safety by carrying out surveys of the drainage system along the A34 continues this week. Lane 1 of the northbound carriageway will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Monday 25 January.

A34 Litchfield to Beacon Hill, Hampshire: drainage survey Work to maintain safety by carrying out surveys of the drainage system along the A34 continues this week. Lane 1 of the northbound carriageway will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Friday 29 January.

A34 West Ilsley to Chilton, Oxfordshire: drainage survey

Work to maintain safety by carrying out surveys of the drainage system along the A34 continues this week. Lane 1 of the southbound carriageway will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Wednesday 27 January.

A34 Milton interchange, Oxfordshire: Junction improvement

Work to improve journey times and safety by improving the layout of the Milton interchange continues this week. Narrow lanes and a temporary speed limit will be in place 24/7. Work is due to be completed in spring 2016.

A34 Botley to Peartree Interchanges (Oxford), Oxfordshire: drainage survey

Work to maintain safety by carrying out surveys of the drainage system along the A34 continue this week. Lane 1 of the southbound carriageway will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Thursday 28 January.

A303 Popham to Bullington, Hampshire: drainage survey

Work to maintain safety by carrying out surveys of the drainage system along the A303 starts this week. The westbound entry slip road at Micheldever and lane 1 of the main westbound carriageway will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Thursday 28 January for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the Overton junction.

A303 Picket Twenty (Andover), Hampshire: drainage survey

Work to maintain safety by carrying out surveys of the drainage system along the A303 takes place this week. Lane 1 of the westbound carriageway will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Tuesday 26 January.

A303 Thruxton, Hampshire to Parkhouse Cross (A338), Wiltshire: drainage survey

Work to maintain safety by carrying out surveys of the drainage system along the A303 takes place this week. Lane closures on both carriageways will be in place overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday 25 January for 3 nights.

A404 Bisham, Berkshire to Handy Cross (M40), Buckinghamshire: drainage survey

Work to maintain safety by carrying out surveys of the drainage system along the A404 takes place this week. Lane closures on both carriageways will be in place overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Thursday 28 January for 2 nights.
