The following summary of planned new and ongoing road improvements over the coming week is correct as of 22 April but could be subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances. All our improvement work is carried out with the aim of causing as little disruption as possible.

M3 junctions 2 (M25) to 4a Farnborough, Hampshire: smart motorway improvement

Work to reduce congestion and improve journey times continues this week with narrow lanes, a contraflow and a 50mph speed limit in place on both carriageways between junctions 2 and 4a, with a free recovery service operating 24 hours a day until the end of 2016.

The northbound carriageway between junctions 5 and 4 including junction 5 entry slip road will be closed with no access and exit to and from Fleet Services overnight, between 8pm and 5.30am, from Monday 25 April for 4 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A287 and A30.

The link roads from the M25 clockwise to M3 in both directions will be closed overnight, between 8pm and 5.30am, from Monday 25 April for 5 nights. Work on Friday will finish at 7am. A clearly signed diversion will be in place viathe A30 .

The northbound carriageway between junctions junctions 4a to 4 including the junction 4a entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 8pm and 7am, on Friday 29 April. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A327 and A30.

M3 junction 5 Hook, Hampshire: ground investigation

Work to improve safety by undertaking investigations in the verges takes place this week. Lane closures will be in place at the junction overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Monday 25 April.

M3 junction 9 Winchester, Hampshire: surface repair

Work to improve safety by undertaking carriageway repairs on the roundabout take place this week. A lane closure will be in place on the roundabout overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Wednesday 27 April.

M3 junction 13 Eastleigh, Hampshire: road marking

Work to improve safety by renewing the road markings takes place this week. The southbound entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Wednesday 27 April for 3 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the next available junction.

M3 junction 14 Chilworth, Hampshire: bridge inspection

Work to improve safety by undertaking a bridge inspection takes place this week. A lane closure will be in place on the link from the M3 southbound to the M27 westbound overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday 25 April for 4 nights.

M4 junctions 8/9 Maidenhead to 12 Reading, Berkshire: street lighting, carriageway survey and barrier repair

Work to improve safety by carrying out carriageway surveys and repairs to the safety barrier completes this week.

Lane closures will be in place on both carriageways overnight, between 9pm and 6am, until Friday 29 April.

M27 junctions 3 Rownhams to 5 Eastleigh, Hampshire: lane marking renewal

Work to improve journeys by renewing road markings continues this week. The eastbound carriageway will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 6am, from Wednesday 27 April for 3 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A3057 to Romsey, then A27 to Chilworth.

M27 junctions 5 Eastleigh to 7 Hedge End, Hampshire: lane marking renewal

Work to improve journeys by renewing road markings takes place this week. The eastbound carriageway will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 6am, on Monday 25 April. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A27. In addition, lane closures will be in place at junction 7 overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Tuesday 26 April for 3 nights.

M27 junctions 9 Whiteley to 11 Portsmouth, Hampshire: barrier repair

Work to improve safety by carrying out repairs to the central reserve barrier continues this week. Lane 3 of both carriageways will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, until Friday 20 May (Monday to Friday only).

A404(M) junction 9a Maidenhead, Berkshire: sign repair and vegetation

Work to improve journeys by repairing a damaged sign and clearing overgrown vegetation takes place this week. The northbound exit slip road at the Cox Green junction will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Monday 25 April. In addition, the southbound entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Tuesday 26 April. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A404(M) junction 9b roundabout for both closures.

A27 Hilsea to Warblington, Hampshire: street lighting and vegetation clearance

Work to improve journeys by carrying out vegetation clearance and installing new LED bulbs in the street lighting completes this week. Varied lane closures will be in place on both carriageways overnight, between 9pm and 6am, until Friday 29 April.

A3 Hogs Back/Guildford, Surrey: bridge repair

Work to ensure road user safety by undertaking repairs to the bridge take place this week. Lane 2 of the southbound flyover will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Tuesday 26 April.

A3 Horndean to Chalton, Hampshire: surface repair

Work to improve safety by repairing potholes on both carriageways takes place this week. Lane 1 of both carriageways will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Thursday 28 April for 2 nights.

A31 Stag Gate, Dorset: sign repair

Work to improve journeys by repairing road signage along the A31 takes place this week. Temporary traffic lights will be in place overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Wednesday 27 April.

A31 Roundhouse roundabout to Merley, Dorset: resurfacing

Work to improve safety by undertaking emergency resurfacing takes place this week. Both carriageways will be closed overnight, between midnight and 3am, on Wednesday 27 April. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A350, A35 and A349.

A31 Ringwood to Cadnam, Hampshire: resurfacing

Work to improve safety by resurfacing sections of the carriageway completes this week. The eastbound carriageway between Ringwood and Cadnam will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, until Friday 29 April. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A338 northbound to Salisbury, then south on the A36.

A34 Speen to Beedon, West Berkshire: sign repair

Work to improve journeys by repairing road signage along the A34 takes place this week. Lane closures will be in place on both carriageways overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Monday 25 April and Friday 29 April.

A34 Beedon, West Berkshire: bridge repair

Work to improve safety by repairing a bridge over an underpass between Beedon and East Ilsley continues this week. Lane 1 of the northbound carriageway will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday 25 April for 4 nights.

A34 Chilton interchange, Oxfordshire: junction improvement

Work to improve journey times and safety by constructing new slip roads and improving the layout of the Chilton interchange continues this week. A lane closure is in place on the northbound exit slip road at the junction overnight, between 9pm and 6am, until late spring (Monday to Friday only). Work is due to be completed in summer 2016.

A34 Milton interchange, Oxfordshire: junction improvement

Work to improve journey times and safety by improving the layout of the Milton interchange continues this week. Lane closures will be in place overnight, between 9pm and 6am, until the end of April (Monday to Friday only). Work is due to be completed in spring 2016.

A34 Oxford to Wendlebury, Oxfordshire: sign repair

Work to improve journeys by repairing road signage along the A34 takes place this week. Lane closures will be in place on both carriageways overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday 25 April for 4 nights. In addition, the northbound exit and entry slip roads at the Hinksey Hill Interchange will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Tuesday 26 April. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the next available junctions (Botley and Abingdon).

A303 Bullington Cross, Hampshire: surfacing and road marking

Work to improve journeys by laying anti-skid material and renewing road markings takes place this week. The westbound exit and entry slip roads will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday 25 April for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the next available junction. In addition, temporary traffic lights will be in place on the A30 link road overnight between 9pm and 6am.

A303 Thruxton, Hampshire: resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by resurfacing sections of both carriageways near Thruxton continues this week. The eastbound carriageway between the A338 Parkhouse Cross and A342 Hundred Acre will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, until Tuesday 3 May (Monday to Friday only). A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A338, Ludgershall and A342 Andover Road for all closures.

A404 Burchetts Green, Berkshire: vegetation clearance

Work to improve journeys by clearing overgrown vegetation starts this week. The northbound entry slip road at the Burchetts Green junction will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Wednesday 27 April for 7 nights (Monday to Friday only). A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A404(M) junction 9b roundabout.

A404 Marlow, Buckinghamshire to Bisham, Berkshire: sign repair

Work to improve journeys by repairing damaged signage takes place this week. The southbound entry slip road at the Westhorpe Interchange (Marlow) will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Monday 25 April. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M40 Handy Cross roundabout.
