The following summary of planned new and ongoing road improvements over the coming week is correct as of 20 May but could be subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances. All our improvement work is carried out with the aim of causing as little disruption as possible.

M3 junctions 2 (M25) to 4a Farnborough, Hampshire: Smart motorway improvement

Work to reduce congestion and improve journey times continues this week with narrow lanes, a contraflow and a 50mph speed limit in place on both carriageways between junctions 2 and 4a, with a free recovery service operating 24 hours a day until the end of 2016.

The southbound carriageway between junctions 2 and 4 including the M25 clockwise and anti-clockwise link roads to the M3 southbound and junctions 2 and 3 slip roads southbound will be closed overnight, between 8pm and 5.30am, from Monday 23 May for 4 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M25, A30 and A331. The link roads from the M25 clockwise to the M3 in both directions will be closed overnight, between 8pm and 5.30am, from Monday 23 May for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M25 and A30.

The M3 northbound carriageway between junctions 3 and 2 including junction 3 entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 8pm and 5.30am, on Wednesday 23 May. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A322, A30 and M25.

M3 junction 6 Basingstoke, Hampshire: road marking

Work to improve journeys by renewing the road markings along the M3 continues this week. The southbound slip roads at junction 6 will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Monday 23 May. Clearly signed diversions will be in place via junctions 5 and 7. In addition, 2 lanes of the southbound carriageway near the junction will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Tuesday 24 May.

M3 junctions 6 to 7 Basingstoke, Hampshire: road marking

Work to improve journeys by renewing the road markings along the M3 continues this week. Varied lane closures will be in place on the southbound carriageway overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Wednesday 25 for 2 nights.

M3 junction 11 Winchester, Hampshire: traffic signal maintenance

Work to improve journeys by maintaining the traffic signals at the junction completes this week. The southbound exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Tuesday 24 May. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 12. In addition, temporary traffic lights will be in place on the B3335 beneath the M3 motorway.

M4 junctions 5 Slough to 7 Maidenhead, Berkshire: drainage and verge survey

Work to maintain safety by carrying out drainage and verge surveys continues this week. Lane closures will be in place on both carriageways overnight, between 9pm and 6am, until the autumn (Monday to Friday only).

M4 junctions 8/9 Maidenhead to 11 Reading / Wokingham, Berkshire: drainage and verge survey

Work to maintain safety by carrying out drainage and verge surveys continues this week. Lane closures will be in place on both carriageways overnight, between 9pm and 6am, until the autumn (Monday to Friday only).

M4 junction 12 Reading, Berkshire: A4/Ikea resurfacing

Work to resurface the A4 and the junction 12 roundabout as part of the Ikea development continues this week. All slip roads at the junction will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, until Friday 10 June (Monday to Friday only). Clearly signed diversions will be in place via junctions 11 (Reading) and 13 (Chieveley).

M4 junctions 13 Chieveley to 14 Hungerford, West Berkshire: bridge inspection

Work to maintain journeys by undertaking bridge inspections takes place this week. Lane closures will be in place on the eastbound carriageway near Wickham overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Tuesday 24 for 2 nights.

M27 junction 2 Ower, Hampshire: bridge inspection

Work to maintain journeys by undertaking bridge inspections takes place this week. Lane closures will be in place on the eastbound carriageway overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Monday 23 May.

M27 junctions 3 Rownhams to 2 Ower, Hampshire: road marking

Work to improve journeys by renewing the road markings along the M27 continues this week. The westbound entry slip road at junction 3 and the westbound exit slip road at junction 2 will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 6am, on Thursday 26 May. Clearly signed diversions will be in place via junction 5 and junction 1.

In addition, 2 lanes of the westbound carriageway will be closed during the same period.

M27 junctions 7 Hedge End to 9 Whiteley, Hampshire: road marking

Work to improve journeys by renewing the road markings along the M27 completes this week. The eastbound carriageway will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 6am, on Monday 23 May. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A27.

M27 junctions 9 Whiteley to 11 Portsmouth, Hampshire: barrier repair and road marking

Work to improve safety by carrying out repairs to the central reserve barrier continues this week. Lane closures will be in place on both carriageways overnight, between 9pm and 6am, until Friday 3 June (Monday to Friday only).

In addition, the eastbound exit slip road at junction 11 will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Tuesday 24 May. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 12. The eastbound entry slip road at junction 9 will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Wednesday 25 May. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 8.

A3 Horndean to Liphook, Hampshire: vegetation clearance

Work to ensure road user safety by cutting back overgrown vegetation along the A3 takes place this week. Mobile lane closures will be in place on both carriageways overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Thursday 26 May.

A3 Petersfield, Hampshire: sign maintenance

Work to keep road users informed by maintaining road signage along the A3 takes place this week. Lane closures will be in place on the northbound carriageway overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Thursday 26 May.

In addition, the northbound exit slip road at the A2070 Weston Interchange, and the northbound exit and entry slip roads at the A272 Midhurst junction will be closed during the same period. Clearly signed diversion will be in place via the next available junction.

A3 Ham Barn Roundabout to Queen Elizabeth Country Park: Hampshire: sign and drainage maintenance Work to ensure road user safety by repairing damaged signs and maintain drainage along the A3 takes place this week. Lane closures will be in place on the southbound carriageway overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday 23 May for 4 nights.

A3 Hindhead Tunnel, Surrey: maintenance

Work to ensure road user safety by carrying out routine maintenance of the Hindhead Tunnel takes place this week. The northbound bore will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 6am, from Monday 23 May for 4 nights. Traffic will be diverted through the southbound bore in contraflow.

A27 Langstone, Hampshire: street lighting

Work to ensure road user safety by installing new LED bulbs along the A27 completes this week. The eastbound entry slip road at the A3023 Langstone junction will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Thursday 26 May. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the Bedhampton junction.

A31 Sturminster Marshall to Morden, Dorset: sign repair

Work to ensure road users are kept informed by repairing a damaged sign along the A31 takes place this week. Temporary traffic lights will be in place along the A31 overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Tuesday 24 May.

A34 Kings Worthy, Hampshire: pedestrian facility improvement

Work by Hampshire County Council to improve pedestrian facilities at the B3047 London Road junction completes this week. The Kings Worthy link road between the A34 and B3047 will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, until Thursday 26 May. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via Winchester.

A34 Chieveley, West Berkshire: sign repair

Work to ensure road users are kept informed by repairing a damaged sign along the A34 takes place this week. The southbound exit slip road at the Chieveley junction will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Thursday 26 May. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via Speen.

A34 Chilton interchange, Oxfordshire: junction improvement

Work to improve journey times and safety by constructing new slip roads and improving the layout of the Chilton interchange continues this week. The northbound exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, until the end of June (Monday to Friday only). A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the Milton Interchange. Work is due to be completed in summer 2016.

A34 Milton interchange, Oxfordshire: junction improvement

Work to improve journey times and safety by improving the layout of the Milton interchange continues this week. Lane closures will be in place on both carriageways and the slip roads at the junction overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday 23 May for 3 weeks (Monday to Friday only).

A34 Hinksey Hill to Botley (Oxford), Oxfordshire: sign maintenance

Work to keep road users informed by maintaining road signage along the A34 takes place this week. Lane closures will be in place on both carriageways overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Wednesday 25 May.

A34 Islip, Oxfordshire: sign repair

Work to ensure road users are kept informed by repairing a damaged sign along the A34 takes place this week. The northbound exit slip road at the Islip junction will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Wednesday 25 May. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via Weston-on-the-Green.

A308(M) Maidenhead, Berkshire: vegetation clearance

Work to ensure road user safety by cutting back overgrown vegetation along the A308(M) takes place this week. Mobile lane closures will be in place on both carriageways overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Monday 23 May.

A404 Burchetts Green, Berkshire to Handy Cross, Buckinghamshire: vegetation clearance

Work to ensure road user safety by cutting back overgrown vegetation along the A404 takes place this week. Mobile lane closures will be in place on both carriageways overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday 23 for 2 nights.

A404 Marlow, Buckinghamshire to Bisham, Berkshire: sign repair

Work to ensure road users are kept informed by repairing a damaged sign along the A404 takes place this week. The southbound carriageway will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Monday 23 May. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via Henley-on-Thames.

In addition, lane closures will be in place on the southbound carriageway at the Bisham Roundabout overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Thursday 26 May.
