The following summary of planned new and ongoing road improvements over the coming week is correct as of 18 November but could be subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances. All our improvement work is carried out with the aim of causing as little disruption as possible.

M3 junctions 2 (M25) to 4a Farnborough, Hampshire: smart motorway improvement

Work to reduce congestion and improve journey times by converting the M3 into a smart motorway continues this week. Narrow lanes and a 50mph speed limit will be in place on both carriageways between junctions 2 and 4a, with a free recovery service operating 24 hours a day.

The M25 junction 12 clockwise slip road to the M3 junction 2 southbound and the M25 junction 12 clockwise link road to M3 junction 2 northbound will be closed overnight, between 8pm and 5.30am, on Monday 21 November. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M25, A30 and A322.

The southbound carriageway between junctions 2 and 4 including the M25 clockwise and anti-clockwise link roads to the M3 southbound, junction 3 entry slip road and junctions 3 and 4 exit slip roads will be closed overnight, between 8pm and 5.30am, from Monday 21 November for 3 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M25, A30 and A331.

The M3 junction 2 southbound link road to M25 junction 12 clockwise will be closed overnight, between 8pm and 5.30am, from Monday 21 November for 4 nights and between 8pm and 7am on Friday 25 November. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M25 junction 11 and return.

The northbound carriageway between junctions 4 and 3 including junction 4 entry slip road and junction 3 exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 8pm and 5.30am, on Wednesday 23 November. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A331, A30 and A322.

The northbound carriageway between junctions 3 and 2 including junction 3 entry slip road and clockwise and anti-clockwise link roads from the M3 junction 2 northbound to M25 junction 12 will be closed overnight, between 8pm and 5.30am, on Thursday 24 November. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A322, A30 and M25.

The southbound carriageway between junctions 2 and 3 including the M25 clockwise and anti-clockwise link roads to the M3 southbound and junction 3 exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 8pm and 5.30am, on Thursday 24 November. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M25, A30 and A322.

M4 junction 10 Wokingham, Berkshire: bridge reconstruction

Work to refurbish the bridge which carries the link roads over the M4 continues this week. Narrow lanes and a 40mph speed limit are in place on the slip roads, and a 50mph speed limit is in place on the M4 carriageway until November 2017.

M4 junctions 10 Wokingham to 11 Reading, Berkshire: street lighting

Work to maintain road user safety by replacing damaged parts on selected lighting columns takes place this week. Lane closures will be in place on both carriageways overnight, between 10pm and 5am, from Monday 21 November for 5 nights.

M4 junctions 11 to 12 Reading, Berkshire: resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by resurfacing a section of the westbound carriageway near Pingewood starts this week. The westbound carriageway will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 6am, from Thursday 24 November for 9 nights (Monday to Friday only). A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A33 and A4. Access to Moto Reading Service Area (westbound) will be unavailable during these closures – the nearest service area is off the M4 at junction 13 (Chieveley).

M27 junction 12 Portsmouth, Hampshire: resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by resurfacing the link road from junction 12 to the M275 southbound starts this week.

The eastbound link road from M27 to the M275 southbound and the westbound exit slip road to the M275 southbound will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 6am, from Monday 21 November for 9 nights (Monday to Friday only).

Clearly signed diversions will be in place via junction 11 and the A2030 Eastern Road roundabout.

A3(M) junction 2 Hazelton, Hampshire: bridge survey

Work to improve journeys by carrying out structural surveys takes place this week. Lane closures will be in place on the southbound carriageway overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday 21 November for 2 nights.

A3(M) junction 5 Bedhampton, Hampshire: bridge survey

Work to improve journeys by carrying out structural surveys takes place this week. Lane closures will be in place on the southbound carriageway and exit slip road at the junction overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Wednesday 23 November for 2 nights.

A27 Bedhampton, Hampshire: drainage and surveying

Work to improve journeys by carrying out drainage maintenance and carriageway surveys takes place this week. The westbound entry slip road at the Harts Farm/Bedhampton junction will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Tuesday 22 November. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A3023 Langstone junction.

In addition, lane closures will be in place on the westbound carriageway and at the Harts Farm junction overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Friday 25 November.

A31 Ringwood, Hampshire: survey

Work to improve journeys by carrying out carriageway surveys takes place this week. Lane closures will be in place on the westbound carriageway overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Wednesday 23 November for 2 nights.

A31 Winterbourne Zelston, Dorset: drainage survey

Work to improve journeys by carrying out drainage surveys continues this week. Temporary traffic lights are in place on the A31 near the Worlds End Inn overnight, between 9pm and 6am, until Tuesday 29 November (Monday to Friday only).

A34 Whitchurch, Hampshire: resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by resurfacing a section of the A34 near Whitchurch finishes this week. The southbound carriageway from the A343 Highclere junction to a point south of Whitchurch will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, until Wednesday 23 November.

A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A343 (through Hurstbourne Tarrant), A3093 (Andover) and east along the A303 to re-join the A34 at Bullington Cross.

A303 Longparish, Hampshire: drainage

Work to maintain road user safety by carrying out drainage maintenance takes place this week. The westbound entry slip road will be closed with lane closures in place on both carriageways overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Wednesday 23 November for 2 nights.

A clearly signed diversion will be in place via Barton Stacey.

A404 Maidenhead, Berkshire: drainage

Work to maintain road user safety by carrying out drainage maintenance takes place this week. Lane closures will be in place on both carriageways between Maidenhead and the Bisham Roundabout overnight, between 10pm and 6am, on Monday 21 November.

A404 High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire: drainage

Work to maintain road user safety by carrying out drainage maintenance takes place this week. Lane closures will be in place on the southbound carriageway at the Handy Cross roundabout overnight, between 10pm and 6am, on Monday 21 November.
