The following summary of planned new and ongoing road improvements over the coming week is correct as of 17 June but could be subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances. All our improvement work is carried out with the aim of causing as little disruption as possible.

M3 junctions 2 (M25) to 4a Farnborough, Hampshire: smart motorway improvement

Work to reduce congestion and improve journey times continues this week with narrow lanes, a contraflow and a 50mph speed limit in place on both carriageways between junctions 2 and 4a, with a free recovery service operating 24 hours a day until the end of 2016.

The southbound carriageway between junctions 4 and 4a including the junction 4 entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 8pm and 5.30am, from Monday 20 June for 3 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A331, A30 and A327.

The southbound exit slip road at junction 3 will be closed overnight, between 8pm and 5.30am, from Monday 20 June for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 4 and return.

The southbound carriageway between junctions 2 and 3 including the M25 clockwise and anti-clockwise link roads to M3 southbound and junction 2 entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 8pm and 5.30am, on Wednesday 22 June. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M25, A30 and A322.

The northbound carriageway between junction 3 and 2 including junction 3 entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 8pm and 5.30am, on Wednesday 22 June. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A322, A30 and M25.

The northbound carriageway between junctions 4a and 4 including the junction 4a entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 8pm and 5.30am, from Thursday 23 June for 2 nights. Work on Friday will be between 8pm and 7pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A327, A30 and A331.

The northbound exit slip road at junction 4 will be closed between 8pm on Friday 24 June and 5.30am on Monday 27 June. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the nearest available junction.

M3 junction 5 Hook to 6 Basingstoke, Hampshire: road marking

Work to improve journeys by renewing the road markings along the M3 continues this week. The northbound carriageway will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday 20 June for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A30.

M3 junction 7 Basingstoke, Hampshire: road marking

Work to improve journeys by renewing the road markings along the M3 continues this week. The southbound exit slip road at the junction will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Wednesday 22 June. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 9. In addition, there will be lane closures on the main southbound carriageway during the same period.

M4 junctions 5 Slough to 7 Maidenhead, Berkshire: drainage and verge survey

Work to maintain safety by carrying out drainage and verge surveys continues this week. Lane closures will be in place on both carriageways overnight, between 9pm and 6am, until the autumn (Monday to Friday only).

M4 junctions 8/9 Maidenhead to 11 Reading/Wokingham, Berkshire: drainage and verge survey

Work to maintain safety by carrying out drainage and verge surveys continues this week. Lane closures will be in place on both carriageways overnight, between 9pm and 6am, until the autumn (Monday to Friday only).

M4 junctions 10 Wokingham to 11 Reading, Berkshire: bridge installation

Work to improve road user journeys by installing the new Reading University Bridge near Shinfield continues place this week. The M4 between junctions 10 and 11 will be closed in both directions overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday 20 June for 5 nights.

During these closures a clearly signed diversion will be in place via the B3270 and A329(M).

M27 junction 4 Southampton, Hampshire: resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by resurfacing a section of the eastbound carriageway takes place this week. The eastbound carriageway between the exit and entry slip roads for the M3 will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Wednesday 22 June. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via M3 junction 12.

M27 junction 5 Eastleigh, Hampshire: road marking

Work to improve journeys by renewing the road markings along the M27 continues this week. Lane closures will be in place on the westbound carriageway overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Friday 24 June.

M27 junction 12/M275 Portsmouth, Hampshire: road marking

Work to improve journeys by renewing the road markings along the M27 continues this week. The eastbound carriageway between junctions 11 and 12 will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Tuesday 21 June for 3 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A27. In addition, the M275 northbound link to the A27 eastbound carriageway will be closed overnight during the same period. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M27 westbound carriageway to junction 12 then east along the A3/A2030.

In addition, the eastbound exit slip road at junction 12 will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Monday 20 June. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A2030 Eastern Road junction.

A3 Petersfield, Hampshire: street lighting

Work to ensure road user safety by carrying out maintenance to the street lighting takes place this week. The slip roads at the A272 Berelands junction will be closed on different nights, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday 20 June for 4 nights. Clearly signed diversions will be in place via the next available junction (Sheet Link or Weston).

A3 Weston, Hampshire: cycle path

Work to improve safety by maintaining the cycle path along the A3 takes place this week. The southbound entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Friday 24 June. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A272 Petersfield junction.

A3 Guildford, Surrey: street lighting and drainage

Work to ensure road user safety by carrying out maintenance to the drainage and street lighting takes place this week. Lane closures will be in place on both carriageways overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday 20 June for 5 nights.

A31 Picket Post to Ringwood, Hampshire: utility maintenance

Work to maintain safety by carrying out electrical work will start this week. Lane 1 of both carriageways will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Sunday 26 June for 6 consecutive nights.

A34 Chilton interchange, Oxfordshire: junction improvement

Work to improve journey times and safety by constructing new slip roads and improving the layout of the Chilton interchange continues this week. The northbound exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, until the end of June (Monday to Friday only). A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the Milton Interchange. Work is due to be completed in summer 2016.
