The following summary of planned new and ongoing road improvements over the coming week is correct as of 15 January but could be subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances. All our improvement work is carried out with the aim of causing as little disruption as possible.

M3 junctions 2 (M25) to 4a Farnborough, Hampshire: smart motorway improvement

Work to reduce congestion and improve journey times continues this week with narrow lanes, a contraflow and a 50mph speed limit in place on both carriageways between junctions 2 and 4a, with a free recovery service operating 24 hours a day until the end of 2016.

The southbound carriageway between junctions 2 and 4 including the M25 clockwise and anti-clockwise link roads to the M3 southbound and the junction 3 entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 5.30am, from Monday 18 February for 5 nights. Work on Friday will take place between 10pm and 6am. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A30 and A331.

M3 junction 6 Basingstoke, Hampshire: Black Dam improvement

Work to reduce congestion and improve journey times across the Black Dam roundabout near Basingstoke continues this week. Narrow lanes, a 30mph speed limit and off-peak lane closures are in place on the approaches and the roundabout until March 2016.

The M3 junction 6 northbound exit slip road and northbound M3 Spur will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 6am, from Monday 18 January for 3 nights.

The M3 Spur southbound will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 6am, from Thursday 21 January for 2 nights.

The M3 junction 6 exit slip road, M3 Spur north and southbound, A30 Ringway East westbound and A30 London Road westbound will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 6am, from Saturday 23 January for 4 consecutive nights. Clearly signed diversions will be in place.

M4 junctions 6 to 7 Slough, Berkshire: street lighting maintenance

Work to ensure road user safety by maintaining the street lighting along the M4 finishes this week. Lane closures will be in place on both carriageways overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday 18 January for 5 nights.

M4 junction 10 Wokingham, Berkshire: junction improvement

Work to install additional lane designation signs to aid drivers using the junction starts this week. The slip roads and merge onto the A329(M) Reading-bound carriageway will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday 18 January for 5 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A329(M) Wokingham-bound carriageway and the Coppid Beech Roundabout.

A3 Hindhead Tunnel, Surrey: routine maintenance

Work to maintain road user safety through the Hindhead Tunnel takes place this week. The southbound tunnel will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 6am, on Monday 18, Wednesday 20 and Thursday 21 January. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the northbound tunnel.

On Tuesday 19 January the tunnel will be closed in both directions overnight, between 10pm and 6am. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A31 and A325.

A31 Bere Regis to Red Post, Dorset: drainage maintenance

Work to improve drainage along the A31 in Dorset continues this week. The A31 will be closed in both directions overnight, between 10pm and 6am, from Monday 18 January until the end of March (Monday to Friday only). A clearly signed diversion will be in place from the Roundhouse roundabout via the A350 and A35. Access will be maintained for residents living within the closure and managed locally on site.

A34 Winchester to Bullington, Hampshire: sign maintenance and drainage survey

Work to improve journeys by maintaining the signage and drainage system along the A34 continues this week. Various lane closures will be in place on both carriageways overnight, between 9pm and 6am, until Friday 29 January (Monday to Friday only).

A34 Tothill, Hampshire: sign maintenance

Work to improve road user information by maintaining the signage along the A34 continues this week. The southbound entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday 18 January for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via Wash Common.

A34 Milton interchange, Oxfordshire: junction improvement

Work to improve journey times and safety by improving the layout of the Milton interchange continues this week. Narrow lanes and a temporary speed limit will be in place 24/7. Work is due to be completed in spring 2016.

Work to improve journeys by maintaining the signage and drainage system along the A34 continues this week. Various lane closures will be in place on both carriageways overnight, between 9pm and 6am, until Friday 29 January (Monday to Friday only).
