The following summary of planned new and ongoing road improvements over the coming week is correct as of 13 November but could be subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances. All our improvement work is carried out with the aim of causing as little disruption as possible.

M3 junctions 2 (M25) to 4a Farnborough, Hampshire: smart motorway improvement

Work to reduce congestion and improve journey times continues this week with narrow lanes, a contraflow and a 50mph speed limit in place on both carriageways between junctions 2 and 4a, with a free recovery service operating 24 hours a day until the end of 2016.

The southbound carriageway between junctions 2 and 3 including the M25 clockwise and anti-clockwise link roads to the M3 southbound will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 5.30am, from Monday 16 November for 6 nights. The closure on Friday will be between 10pm and 6am and on Saturday between 9pm and 6am. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A30 and A322.

The southbound entry slip road at junction 3 will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 11pm, on Wednesday 18 November 2015. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A30.

M3 junction 6 Basingstoke, Hampshire: Black Dam improvement

Work to reduce congestion and improve journey times across the Black Dam roundabout near Basingstoke continues this week. Narrow lanes, a 30mph speed limit and off-peak lane closures are in place on the approaches and around the roundabout.

M3 junctions 6 Basingstoke to 9 Winchester, Hampshire: bridge waterproofing

Work to improve safety by replacing the bridge’s waterproof surface and expansion joints continues this week. Narrow lanes, a contraflow and a 50mph speed limit will be in place in both directions between junctions 6 and 9 until mid-December.

The northbound carriageway between junctions 9 Winchester and 6 Basingstoke will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Thursday 19 November. The southbound junction 7 Dummer exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Wednesday 18 November. The southbound junction 6 Basingstoke exit and entry slip roads and the junction 8 Dummer entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Friday 20 November. Clearly signed diversions will be in place via the A30 or next available junction.

M3 junction 11 Winchester, Hampshire: vegetation management

Work to maintain safety on slip roads in Hampshire takes place this week. The southbound entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday 16 November for 3 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 10.

Work to maintain safety by replacing communications technology continues this week. The southbound link road between the M3 and eastbound M27 will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday 16 November for 5 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M27 junction 2.

M4 junction 8/9 Maidenhead, Berkshire: Structure survey

Work to improve journeys by carrying out structural surveys on the bridges at the junction takes place this week. Lane closures and temporary traffic signals will be in place on the roundabout overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday 16 November for 4 nights.

M4 junctions 10 to 12 Reading, Berkshire: structure survey and street lighting

Work to improve journeys by carrying out structural surveys and maintaining the street lighting takes place this week. 2 lanes of both carriageways will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday 16 November for 2 nights.

M4 junctions 13 Chieveley to 14 Hungerford, West Berkshire: drainage maintenance

Work to maintain safety and improve journeys by replacing sections of the drainage system near Chieveley finishes this week. Sections of the hard shoulder on both carriageways will be closed 24/7 and lane closures will be in place on both carriageways overnight, between 9pm and 6am, until Friday 20 November.

M27 junction 3 Nursling, Hampshire: junction improvement

Work to improve journeys and reduce congestion continues this week. The M271 southbound (between the A3057 Romsey Road roundabout and junction 3 of the M27), and the M271 northbound (between M271 junction 1 and M27 junction 3) will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 4am, from Monday 16 November for 5 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 2.

M27 junction 5 Eastleigh and junction 7 Hedge End, Hampshire: slip road inspections

Work to improve safety takes place this week with the detailed inspection of slip roads along the M27 in Hampshire. The junction 7 westbound exit and entry slip roads will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Monday 16 November. The junction 5 eastbound exit and junction 7 eastbound entry slip roads will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Tuesday 17 November. Clearly signed diversions will be in place via the next available junction.

A3 Liphook to Sheet, Hampshire: road marking renewal

Work to improve safety by renewing the white lines on the A3 in Hampshire takes place this week. The southbound carriageway between Liphook and Sheet will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Monday 16 November. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the B2070.

A34 Winchester to Bullington Cross, Hampshire: various maintenance activity

Work to improve journeys and safety by undertaking various routine maintenance including vegetation clearance, barrier repairs, and drainage and street lighting maintenance starts this week. Lane closures will be in place on the northbound carriageway overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday 16 November for 5 days.

In addition, the northbound exit slip road at Bullington Cross will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Tuesday 17 November with a clearly signed diversion in place via the Whitchurch junction.

A34 Chieveley/Beedon, West Berkshire: structure survey

Work to improve journeys by carrying out structural surveys takes place this week. The Beedon (North) northbound entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Monday 16 November. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via Chieveley.

A34 Milton interchange, Oxfordshire: junction improvement

Work to improve journey times and safety by improving the layout of the Milton interchange continues this week. Narrow lanes and a temporary speed limit will be in place 24/7. Work is due to be completed in spring 2016.

Work to improve journeys by carrying out surveys to the drainage system and clearing overgrown vegetation takes place this week. Lane closures will be in place on both carriageways overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday 16 November for 5 nights.

A34 Oxford, Oxfordshire: drainage survey

Work to improve journeys by carrying out surveys to the drainage system continues this week. Lane closures will be in place on both carriageways overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday 16 November for 4 nights. In addition, the laybys located off the southbound carriageway near Kidlington will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Wednesday 18 November.

A34 Islip to Weston-on-the-Green, Oxfordshire: drainage survey

Work to improve journeys by carrying out surveys to the drainage system continues this week. Lane closures will be in place on both carriageways overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Tuesday 17 November for 4 nights. In addition, the laybys located off the northbound carriageway near Islip and Weston-on-the-Green will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Tuesday 17 November.

A303 Bullington Cross, Hampshire: resurfacing

Work to maintain safety and improve journeys by resurfacing the A30 link finishes this week. The westbound entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Thursday 19 November for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A303 Micheldever junction.

A303 Bullington Cross to Longparish, Hampshire: bridge repair

Work to maintain journeys by undertaking bridge joint replacement will take place this week. The westbound carriageway from the A34 (Bullington Cross) to the B3048 (Longparish) will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Tuesday 17 November. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A34 to Wash Common, and the A343 back to Andover. This diversion will add approximately 19 miles and take approximately 25 minutes longer than normal, therefore road users are advised to allow extra time for their journey.
