The following summary of planned new and ongoing road improvements over the coming week is correct as of 13 May but could be subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances. All our improvement work is carried out with the aim of causing as little disruption as possible.

M3 junctions 2 (M25) to 4a Farnborough, Hampshire: Smart motorway improvement

Work to reduce congestion and improve journey times continues this week with narrow lanes, a contraflow and a 50mph speed limit in place on both carriageways between junctions 2 and 4a, with a free recovery service operating 24 hours a day until the end of 2016.

The southbound carriageway will be closed between junctions 3 and 4 overnight, between 8pm and 5.30am, on Monday 16 May for three nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A322, A30 and A331.

The southbound carriageway will be closed between junctions 4a and 5 overnight, between 8pm and 5.30am, on Monday 16 May for three nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A327 and A287.

The northbound carriageway will be closed between junctions 3 and 2 overnight, between 8pm and 5.30am, from Tuesday 17 May for 3 nights, and between 8pm and 7am, on Saturday 21 May. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A322 and A30 to the M25 junction 13.

The northbound carriageway will be closed between junctions 4a and 4 overnight, between 8pm and 5.30am, on Tuesday 17 May for three nights, and between 8pm and 7pm, on Friday 20 May and Saturday 21 May. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A327, A30 and A331.

The southbound carriageway will be closed between junctions 2 and 3 overnight, between 8pm and 7am, from Friday 20 May for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for clockwise traffic via M25 junction 13, A30 and A322 to the M3 junction 3. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for anti-clockwise traffic via M25 junction 11 and return to M25 junction 13, A30 and A322 to the M3 junction 3.

The northbound exit slip road at junction 4a will be closed from 8pm on Friday 20 May until 5.30am on Monday 23 May. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 3.

M3 junction 11 Winchester, Hampshire: road marking and traffic signals

Work to improve journeys by renewing the road markings and maintaining the traffic signals at the junction takes place this week.

The southbound exit and entry slip roads at junction 11 will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Thursday 19 May. Clearly signed diversion routes will be in place via the next junctions. In addition, temporary traffic lights will be in place on the B3335 beneath the M3 motorway.

M3 junction 13 Eastleigh, Hampshire: barrier repair

Work to improve safety by carrying out repairs to the safety barrier at the junction takes place this week. The southbound exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday 16 May for 5 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the Chilworth Roundabout. In addition, lane closures will be in place on the main M3 southbound carriageway during the same period.

M4 junctions 5 Slough to 7 Maidenhead, Berkshire: drainage and verge survey

Work to maintain safety by carrying out drainage and verge surveys continues this week. Lane closures will be in place on both carriageways overnight, between 9pm and 6am, until the end of May (Monday to Friday only).

M4 junctions 8/9 Maidenhead to 11 Reading / Wokingham, Berkshire: drainage and verge survey

Work to maintain safety by carrying out drainage and verge surveys continues this week. Lane closures will be in place on both carriageways overnight, between 9pm and 6am, until the end of May (Monday to Friday only).

M4 junctions 11 to 12 Reading, Berkshire: street lighting

Work to ensure road user safety by installing new LED bulbs along the M4 takes place this week. Lane closures will be in place on both carriageways overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday 16 May for 3 nights.

M4 junction 12 Reading, Berkshire: A4/Ikea resurfacing

Work to resurface the A4 and the junction 12 roundabout as part of the Ikea development continues this week. All slip roads at the junction will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, until Friday 10 June (Monday to Friday only). Clearly signed diversions will be in place via junctions 11 (Reading) and 13 (Chieveley).

M4 junction 15 Swindon, Wiltshire: traffic signals

Work to improve journeys by maintaining the traffic signals at the junction will take place this week. Lane closures will be in place at the junction overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Wednesday 18 May.

M27 junction 8 Bursledon, Hampshire: sign repair

Work to keep road users informed by repairing a damaged sign at the junction takes place this week. A lane closure will be in place on the eastbound entry slip road and on the roundabout overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Monday 16 May.

M27 junctions 7 Hedge End to 9 Whiteley, Hampshire: road markings

Work to improve journeys by renewing the road markings along the M27 continues this week. The westbound carriageway will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 6am, from Monday 16 May for 2 nights.

The eastbound carriageway will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 6am, from Wednesday 18 May for 4 nights (Monday to Friday only).

A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A27.

M27 junctions 9 Whiteley to 11 Portsmouth, Hampshire: barrier repair

Work to improve safety by carrying out repairs to the central reserve barrier finishes this week. Lane 3 on both carriageways will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, until Friday 20 May.

M271 Southampton, Hampshire: drainage survey

Work to improve journeys by carrying out drainage surveys finishes this week. Lane closures will be in place between the M27 and the A35 Redbridge Roundabout overnight, between 9pm and 6am, until Wednesday 18 May.

A3 Buriton, Hampshire: cycle way

Work to improve safety by maintaining the cycle way near the A3 takes place this week. The southbound entry slip road at the Weston junction will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Friday 20 May. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the Petersfield junction.

A3 Petersfield to Liphook, Hampshire: drainage and signs

Work to improve safety by carrying out drainage maintenance and sign repairs at selected locations along the A3 takes place this week. Lane 1 on the northbound carriageway will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday 16 May for 5 nights.

A3(M) junctions 3 to 5 Waterlooville, Hampshire: road marking and vegetation

Work to improve journeys by renewing the road markings and cutting back overgrown vegetation along the A3(M) takes place this week. Lane closures will be in place on both carriageways and on the slip roads at junctions 3 and 5 overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday 16 May for 5 nights.

A27 Langstone, Hampshire: street lighting

Work to ensure road user safety by installing new LED bulbs along the A27 takes place this week. Lane closures will be in place on both carriageways at the junction overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday 16 May for 5 nights.

A34 Kings Worthy, Hampshire: pedestrian facility improvement

Work by Hampshire County Council to improve pedestrian facilities at the B3047 London Road junction continues this week. The Kings Worthy link road between the A34 and B3047 will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, until Thursday 26 May (Monday to Friday only). A clearly signed diversion will be in place via Winchester.

A34 Chilton interchange, Oxfordshire: junction improvement

Work to improve journey times and safety by constructing new slip roads and improving the layout of the Chilton interchange continues this week. The northbound exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, until the end of June (Monday to Friday only), with a clearly signed diversion in place via the Milton Interchange. Work is due to be completed in summer 2016.

A34/A303 Bullington Cross, Hampshire: resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by resurfacing sections of the northern side of the junction finishes this week. The A303 eastbound exit and entry slip roads at the junction will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, until Tuesday 17 May. Clearly signed diversions will be in place via Micheldever and Three Maids Hill/Barton Stacey junctions.

In addition, the A34 northbound exit slip road will be closed over the same period, with a clearly signed diversion in place via Whitchurch.

A303 Thruxton, Hampshire: resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by resurfacing a section of the eastbound carriageway takes place this week. The A303 eastbound carriageway between the A338 Parkhouse Cross and the A342 Monxton/Weyhill junction will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Wednesday 18 May. A clearly signed diversion route will be in place via the A338, Tidworth, Ludgershall and A342.
