The following summary of planned new and ongoing road improvements over the coming week is correct as of 9 October but could be subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances. All our improvement work is carried out with the aim of causing as little disruption as possible.

M3 junctions 2 (M25) to 4a Farnborough, Hampshire: smart motorway improvement

Work to reduce congestion and improve journey times continues this week with narrow lanes, a contraflow and a 50mph speed limit in place on both carriageways between junctions 2 and 4a, with a free recovery service operating 24 hours a day until the end of 2016.

The southbound carriageway between junctions 3 and 4, including junction 3 entry slip road, will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 5.30am, on Thursday 15 October. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A30.

M3 junction 6 Basingstoke, Hampshire: Black Dam improvement

Work to reduce congestion and improve journey times across the Black Dam roundabout near Basingstoke continues this week. Narrow lanes, a 30mph speed limit and off-peak lane closures are in place on the approaches and around the roundabout.

M3 junctions 6 Basingstoke to 9 Winchester, Hampshire: bridge waterproofing

Work to improve safety by replacing the bridge’s waterproof surface and expansion joints begins this week. Narrow lanes, a contraflow and a 50mph speed limit will be in place in both directions between junctions 6 and 9 until mid-December.

M3 junction 12 Chandler’s Ford, Hampshire: slip road resurfacing

Work to improve road user safety by resurfacing slip roads on the M3 takes place this week. The southbound exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Tuesday 13 October. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 13.

M4 junction 10 Wokingham, Berkshire: structure survey

Work to improve journeys by carrying out structure surveys continues this week. The link from the M4 eastbound carriageway to the A329(M) Wokingham-bound carriageway will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday 12 October for 3 nights.

The link from the M4 westbound carriageway to the A329(M) Reading-bound carriageway will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Thursday 15 October for 2 nights. Clearly signed diversions will be in place via the Winnersh Triangle and Coppid Beech roundabout.

M4 junctions 10 Wokingham to 11 Reading, Berkshire: street lighting

Work to maintain road user safety by replacing street lighting finishes this week. Lane closures will be in place on both carriageways overnight, between 9pm and 6am, until Friday 16 October.

M4 junctions 13 Chieveley to 14 Hungerford, West Berkshire: drainage maintenance

Work to maintain safety and improve journeys by replacing sections of the drainage system near Chieveley continues this week. Sections of the hard shoulder on both carriageways will be closed 24 hours a day and lane closures will be in place on both carriageways overnight, between 10pm and 6am, until Friday 6 November (Monday to Friday only).

M4 junctions 14 Hungerford, West Berkshire to 15 Swindon, Wiltshire: road marking

Work to improve journeys by renewing the road markings near Hungerford takes place this week. The eastbound exit and entry slip roads at junction 14 will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Tuesday 13 October, with clearly signed diversions in place via junctions 13 and 15. In addition, 2 lanes of the eastbound carriageway will be closed during the same period.

M27 junction 3 Nursling, Hampshire: junction improvement

Work to improve journeys and reduce congestion continues this week. The M271 southbound (between the A3057 Romsey Road roundabout and junction 3 of the M27), and the M271 northbound (between M271 junction 1 and M27 junction 3) will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 4am, from Monday 12 October for 10 nights (Monday to Friday only). A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 2.

M27 junction 10 Fareham, Hampshire: slip road resurfacing

Work to improve road user safety by resurfacing the M27 slip roads takes place this week. The eastbound entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday 12 October for 5 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A27.

A3 Hog’s Back to Burpham Guildford, Surrey: sign replacement

Work to improve road user safety by maintaining signs on the A3 through Guildford takes place this week. The northbound carriageway will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday 12 October for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via Farnham Road and the A3100.

A3 Hampshire and Surrey: slip road vegetation maintenance

Work to improve road user visibility at slip roads on the A3 carriageway in Hampshire and Surrey takes place this week.

The northbound exit and entry slip roads at Longmoor and Liphook will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Monday 12 October.

The northbound exit and entry slip roads at Griggs Green and Hazel Grove will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Wednesday 14 October.

The southbound exit and entry slip roads at Hazel Grove and Griggs Green will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Thursday 15 October.

The southbound exit and entry slip roads at Liphook and Longmoor will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Friday 16 October.

Clearly signed diversions will direct road users to the next available junction.

A3(M) junctions 3 Hulbert Road to 5 Bedhampton, Hampshire: carriageway resurfacing

Work to improve road user safety by resurfacing the A3(M) southbound carriageway continues this week. The carriageway will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Thursday 15 October for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the B2150 and B2177.

A31 Poulner Hill Ringwood, Hampshire: drainage maintenance

Work to maintain surface water drainage takes place this week. The westbound exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday 12 October for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the Ringwood Interchange.

A34 Winchester to Bullington Cross, Hampshire: resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by resurfacing a section of the northbound carriageway at Worthy Down finishes this week. The carriageway will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, until Wednesday 14 October. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A33/A303 for non-motorway vehicles and via the M3/A303 for motorway permitted vehicles.

A34 Beedon to East Ilsley, West Berkshire: bridge repair

Work to ensure road user safety by strengthening the bridge at Ashridge Farm continues this week. 24 hour narrow lanes and a 50mph speed limit are in place on both carriageways. In addition, lane 2 on both carriageways will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, until the end of October.

A34 Milton interchange, Oxfordshire: junction improvement

Work to improve journey times and safety by improving the layout of the Milton interchange continues this week. Narrow lanes and a temporary speed limit will be in place 24/7. Work is due to be completed in spring 2016.

A34 Abingdon, Oxfordshire: drainage survey

Work to improve journeys by carrying out drainage surveys starts this week. A lane on the southbound carriageway will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Tuesday 12 October for 3 weeks (Monday to Friday only).

A303 Popham to Bullington, Hampshire: vegetation management

Work to improve journeys by carrying out vegetation clearance will take place this week. A lane on both carriageways will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday 12 October for 4 nights.

A404 Maidenhead, Berkshire: resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by resurfacing a section of the southbound carriageway near Burchetts Green starts this week. The carriageway from the A308 Bisham Roundabout to the A404(M) junction 9b will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Wednesday 14 October for 13 nights (Monday to Friday only). A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M40, M25 and M4. Non-motorway traffic should use the A4155 through Henley-on-Thames and A4130 to Maidenhead.

A404 Marlow to Burchetts Green, Berkshire: vegetation management

Work to improve journeys by carrying out vegetation clearance will take place this week. A lane on both the north and southbound carriageways will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Tuesday 13 October.
