The following summary of planned new and ongoing road improvements over the coming week is correct as of 8 April but could be subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances. All our improvement work is carried out with the aim of causing as little disruption as possible.

M3 junctions 2 (M25) to 4a Farnborough, Hampshire: smart motorway improvement

Work to reduce congestion and improve journey times continues this week with narrow lanes, a contraflow and a 50mph speed limit in place on both carriageways between junctions 2 and 4a, with a free recovery service operating 24 hours a day until the end of 2016.

The southbound carriageway between junctions 2 and 4 including the M25 clockwise and anti-clockwise link roads to the M3 southbound and junction 3 entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 8pm and 5.30am, from Monday 11 April for 4 nights and between 8pm and 7am from Friday 15 April for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via M25 junction 13 to the A30 to junction 4.

M3 junction 5 Hook, Hampshire: verge repair

Works to improve journeys by carrying out verge works will start this week. A lane of the southbound carriageway will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday 11 April for 6 nights (Monday to Friday only).

M3 junction 7 Basingstoke, Hampshire: road marking renewal

Work to improve journeys by renewing the road markings on the northbound carriageway will take place this week. The northbound entry slip road at junction 7 will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Friday 15 April. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the next available junction.

M3 junctions 9 Winchester to 7 Basingstoke, Hampshire: road marking renewal

Work to improve journeys by renewing the road markings on the northbound carriageway will take place this week. The northbound carriageway will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Tuesday 12 April for 3 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A34 and A303.

M3 junctions 10 to 11 Winchester, Hampshire: road marking renewal

Work to improve journeys by renewing the road markings on the northbound carriageway will take place this week. The northbound entry slip road at junction 10 and the northbound exit slip road at junction 11 will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Monday 11 April. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the next available junctions.

M4 junctions 5 Slough to 7 Maidenhead, Berkshire: barrier repair

Work to improve safety by carrying out repairs to the safety barrier will start this week. Mobile lane closures will be in place on both carriageways overnight, between 9pm and 6am, until Wednesday 13 April.

M4 junction 8/9 Maidenhead, Berkshire: traffic signal maintenance

Work to improve journeys by maintaining the traffic signals at the junction will take place this week. Lane closures will be in place overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Wednesday 13 April.

M4 junctions 10 Wokingham to 12 Reading, Berkshire: carriageway survey and barrier repair

Work to improve safety by carrying out carriageway surveys and repairs to the safety barrier will start this week. Lane closures will be in place on both overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Thursday 14 April for 7 nights (Monday to Friday only).

M4 junction 15 Swindon, Wiltshire: traffic signal maintenance

Work to improve journeys by maintaining the traffic signals at the junction will take place this week. Lane closures will be in place in both directions overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Thursday 14 April.

M27 junction 3 and M271 Southampton, Hampshire: resurfacing

Work to ensure road user safety by laying anti-skid material on the M271 southbound carriageway will start this week. The M271 southbound carriageway between the junction 3 roundabout and the Lordshill roundabout will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday 11 April for 5 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A326 from M27 junction 2 through Totton then east on the A336.

M27 junctions 9 Whiteley to 11 Portsmouth, Hampshire: barrier repair

Work to improve safety by carrying out repairs to the central reserve barrier will start this week. Lane 3 of both carriageways will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday 11 April for 6 weeks (Monday to Friday only).

A3 Hindhead Tunnel, Surrey: tunnel maintenance

Work to maintain journeys by carrying out tunnel maintenance will take place this week. The southbound tunnel will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday 11 April for 3 nights. Traffic will be diverted through the northbound tunnel in contraflow under a 40mph speed limit.

A3 Hindhead, Surrey: tunnel and bridge maintenance

Work to maintain journeys by carrying out tunnel and bridge maintenance will take place this week. The southbound carriageway from Thursley to Hazel Grove (Grayshott) will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Thursday 14 April. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A31 and A325. Local access will be maintained for residents only.

A27 Farlington (Portsmouth), Hampshire: resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by resurfacing a section of the eastbound carriageway will take place this week. The eastbound carriageway between the A2030 Eastern Road junction and the A3(M) will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday 11 April for 4 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A2030.

In addition, both carriageways between the exit and entry slip roads at the A2030 Eastern Road junction will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Friday 15 April to allow the communication sensors within the carriageway to be reconnected. A clearly signed diversion will be in place down and across the junction.

A27 Cosham to Warblington, Hampshire: street lighting and vegetation clearance

Work to improve journeys by carrying out vegetation clearance and installing new LED bulbs in the street lighting will start this week. Varied lane closures will be in place on both carriageways overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday 11 April for 3 weeks (Monday to Friday only).

A31 Ringwood to Cadnam, Hampshire: resurfacing

Work to improve safety continues this week. The eastbound carriageway between Ringwood and Cadnam will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, until Friday 29 April (Monday to Friday only). A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A338 northbound to Salisbury, then south on the A36.

A31 West Moors to Palmersford, Dorset: drainage

Work to improve journeys by carrying out drainage maintenance along the A31 in Dorset will take place this week. Lane closures will be in place on both carriageways overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday 11 April for 3 nights.

A31 Bere Regis to Red Post, Dorset: drainage maintenance

Work to improve journeys by carrying out drainage maintenance along the A31 in Dorset will be completed this week. The A31 will be closed in both directions overnight, between 9pm and 6am, until Friday 15 April. A clearly signed diversion will be in place from the Roundhouse roundabout via the A350 and A35. Access will be maintained for residents living within the closure and managed locally on site.

A34 Winchester, Hampshire: sign repair

Work to keep road users informed by maintaining the road signs along the A34 will take place this week. Lane 2 of the southbound carriageway will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Friday 15 April for 2 nights (Monday to Friday only).

A34 Litchfield to Whitchurch, Hampshire: vegetation clearance

Work to improve journeys by carrying out vegetation clearance will take place this week. Lane 1 of the southbound carriageway will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Tuesday 12 April for 4 nights.

A34 Chilton interchange, Oxfordshire: junction improvement

Work to improve journey times and safety by constructing new slip roads and improving the layout of the Chilton interchange continues this week. A lane closure is in place on the northbound exit slip road at the junction overnight, between 9pm and 6am, until late spring (Monday to Friday only). Work is due to be completed in summer 2016.

A34 Milton interchange, Oxfordshire: junction improvement

Work to improve journey times and safety by improving the layout of the Milton interchange continues this week. Lane closures will be in place overnight, between 9pm and 6am, until the end of April (Monday to Friday only). Work is due to be completed in spring 2016.

A34 Milton to Marcham Interchanges, Oxfordshire: drainage and sign repair

Work to maintain road user safety by carrying out maintenance to signage and drainage will start this week. Lane closures will be in place on both carriageways overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday 11 April for 2 weeks (Monday to Friday only).

A34 Botley to Peartree Interchanges, Oxfordshire: sign repair

Work to maintain road user safety by carrying out maintenance to signage will take place this week. Lane closures will be in place on both carriageways overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Tuesday 12 and Wednesday 13 April.

A34 Kidlington to Weston-on-the-Green, Oxfordshire: sign repair

Work to improve safety by carrying out repairs to the signage will take place this week. Lane 1 of the northbound carriageway will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Thursday 14 April.

A303 Thruxton, Hampshire: resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by resurfacing sections of both carriageways near Thruxton completes this week. The westbound carriageway between the A338 Parkhouse Cross and A342 Hundred Acre will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, until Tuesday 12 April. Resurfacing work will then commence on the eastbound carriageway overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Thursday 14 April for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A338, Ludgershall and A342 Andover Road for all closures.

A404 Bisham Roundabout, Berkshire: street lighting

Work to maintain road user safety by installing new LED lighting will take place this week. Lane closures will be in place on both carriageways overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Friday 15 April.
