The following summary of planned new and ongoing road improvements over the coming week is correct as of 7 October but could be subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances. All our improvement work is carried out with the aim of causing as little disruption as possible.

M3 junctions 2 (M25) to 4a Farnborough, Hampshire: Smart motorway improvement

Work to reduce congestion and improve journey times continues this week with narrow lanes a 50mph speed limit in place on both carriageways between junctions 2 and 4a, with a free recovery service operating 24 hours a day.

The southbound carriageway between junctions 3 and 4a including junctions 3 and 4 entry slip roads and junctions 4 and 4a exit slip roads will be closed overnight, between 8pm and 5.30am, on Monday 10 October, and Thursday 13 October and between 8pm and 7am on Friday 14 October. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A322, A30 and A327.

The northbound carriageway between junctions 4a and 2 including junctions 4a, 4 and 3 entry slip roads, junction 3 exit slip road and junction 2 northbound clockwise and anti-clockwise link roads will be closed overnight, between 8pm and 5.30am, from Monday 10 October for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A327, A30 and M25 junction 13.

The southbound carriageway between junctions 2 and 4a including the M25 junction 12 entry slip road to the M3 southbound and the M25 junction 12 anti-clockwise link road to the M3 southbound including junctions 2, 3 and 4 entry slip roads and junctions 3, 4 and 4a exit slip roads will be closed overnight, between 8pm and 5.30am, from Tuesday 11 October for 2 nights.

A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A30 and A327. The northbound carriageway between junctions 4a and 3 including junction 4a entry slip road, junction 4 entry and exit slip roads and junction 3 exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 8pm and 5.30am, from Wednesday 12 October for 2 nights and between 8pm and 7am on Friday 14 October. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A327, A30 and A322.

The northbound carriageway between junctions 4 and 3 including junction 4 entry slip road and junction 3 exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 8pm and 7am, on Saturday 15 October. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A331, A30 and A322.

M3 junction 5 Hook, Hampshire: drainage

Work to maintain road user safety by carrying out drainage maintenance takes place this week. Lane closures will be in place on both carriageways overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday 10 October for 2 nights.

M3 junction 13 Eastleigh, Hampshire: barrier repair

Work to improve safety by carrying out repairs to the barrier finishes this week. The southbound exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, until Friday 14 October. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via M27 junction 5.

M4 junctions 10 Wokingham to 11 Reading, Berkshire: lighting

Work to maintain safety by carrying out maintenance work on the street lighting along the M4 finishes this week. Lane closures will be in place on both carriageways overnight, between 9pm and 6am, until Friday 14 October.

M271 junction 1 Lordshill, Hampshire: development

Work to reduce congestion and improve safety as part of the major Lidl development continues this week. Both exit slip roads at junction 1 will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, until Friday 28 October (Monday to Friday only). Local diversions will be in place.

A3 Stoke Interchange, Surrey: drainage

Work to maintain road user safety by carrying out drainage maintenance takes place this week. Lane closures will be in place on both carriageways overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Wednesday 12 October for 2 nights.

A3 Guildford, Surrey: resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by resurfacing a slip road at the University Interchange takes place this week. The northbound entry slip road will be closed and there will be temporary traffic lights on Egerton Road overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Tuesday 11 October for 2 nights.

A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A3 southbound carriageway to Compton and return.

A3 Liss to Ham Barn, Hampshire: drainage

Work to maintain road user safety by carrying out drainage maintenance takes place this week. Lane closures will be in place on both carriageways overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Friday 14 October.

A31 St Leonards, Dorset: resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by resurfacing the Woolsbridge Roundabout continues this week. Both carriageways of the A31 between the A338 Ashley Heath roundabout and the Boundary Lane roundabout will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, until Monday 17 October (Monday to Friday only).

A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A338 Spur Road, West Parley, New Road and Ringwood Road.

A34 Highclere, Hampshire: structural survey

Work to improve journeys by carrying out structural surveys along the A34 continues this week. Lane closures will be in place on both carriageways overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday 10 October for 2 nights.

A34 Speen to Newbury, West Berkshire: structural survey and road marking

Work to improve journeys by carrying out structural surveys and renewing road markings along the A34 continues this week. Lane closures will be in place on both carriageways overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Wednesday 12 October for 4 nights (Monday to Friday only).

In addition, the southbound exit and entry slip roads at the A4 Speen junction will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Friday 14 October. Clearly signed diversions will be in place via adjacent junctions.

A34/A339 Newbury, West Berkshire: road marking

Work to improve journeys by renewing the road markings continues this week. The A339 southbound link from the A34 to the Vodafone roundabout will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 6am, on Thursday 13 October. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A4 Speen junction.

A34 Chieveley, West Berkshire: road marking

Work to improve journeys by renewing the road markings near Chieveley Service Area takes place this week. The southbound link from the M4 roundabout to the A34 southbound carriageway will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 6am, on Wednesday 12 October.

A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A34 northbound carriageway to West Ilsley (to access the A34 southbound carriageway); traffic for Chieveley Service Area should then use the A339 Vodafone roundabout to access the service area from the A34 northbound link.

A34 Milton, Oxfordshire to Chieveley, West Berkshire: road marking

Work to improve journeys by renewing the road markings along the southbound carriageway between the Milton and Chieveley Interchanges finishes this week. The southbound carriageway will be closed from the A4130 Milton Interchange to the M4 junction 13 Interchange overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday 10 October for 2 nights.

A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A417, Wantage and A338 towards the M4/Hungerford.

A303 Bullington Cross to Popham, Hampshire: road marking

Work to ensure road user safety by renewing the road markings along the A303 continues this week. The eastbound carriageway between the A34 (Bullington Cross) and the M3 (junction 8) will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday 10 October for 3 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A34 and the A33 or M3.

A303 Andover to Bullington Cross, Hampshire: road marking

Work to ensure road user safety by renewing the road markings along the A303 continues this week. The eastbound carriageway between the A3093 at Andover (Picket Twenty) and the A34 (Bullington Cross) will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Thursday 13 October for 3 nights (Monday to Friday only). A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A343 through Hurstbourne Tarrant towards Newbury, then south on the A34.

A404 Bisham, Berkshire to Handy Cross, Buckinghamshire: drainage

Work to maintain road user safety by carrying out drainage maintenance takes place this week. Lane closures will be in place on both carriageways overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday 10 October for 2 weeks (Monday to Friday only).
