The following summary of planned new and ongoing road improvements over the coming week is correct as of 29 January but could be subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances. All our improvement work is carried out with the aim of causing as little disruption as possible.

M3 junctions 2 (M25) to 4a Farnborough, Hampshire: smart motorway improvement

Work to reduce congestion and improve journey times continues this week with narrow lanes, a contraflow and a 50mph speed limit in place on both carriageways between junctions 2 and 4a, with a free recovery service operating 24 hours a day until the end of 2016.

The northbound carriageway between junctions 5 and 3 including junction 5, 4a and 4 entry slip roads will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 5.30am, on Monday 1 February. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A287, A30 and A322.

The northbound carriageway between junctions 3 and 2 including junction 3 entry slip roads will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 5.30am, from Monday 1 February for 5 nights. Work on Friday will be between 9pm and 7am. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A322, A30 and M25.

The southbound carriageway between junctions 3 and 5 including junction 3, 4 and 4a entry slip roads will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 5.30am, from Monday 1 February for 7 nights. Work on Friday and Saturday will be between 9pm and 7am. Work on Sunday will be between 10pm and 5.30am. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A322, A30 and A287.

M3 junction 6 Basingstoke, Hampshire: Black Dam improvement

Work to reduce congestion and improve journey times across the Black Dam roundabout near Basingstoke continues this week. Narrow lanes, a 30mph speed limit and off-peak lane closures are in place on the approaches and the roundabout until March 2016.

The M3 junction 6 northbound exit slip road, the M3 Spur north and southbound, the A30 Ringway South westbound and A30 London Road westbound will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 6am, from Monday 1 February for 2 nights.

The M3 junction 6 northbound exit slip road, the M3 Spur north and southbound, the A30 Ringway South east and westbound and the A30 London Road east and westbound will be closed from 10pm on Friday 5 February until 5am on Monday 8 February.

Clearly signed diversions will be in place via the M3, A30 and local roads.

M4 junctions 5 Slough to 7 Maidenhead, Berkshire: street lighting maintenance

Work to improve safety by maintaining the street lighting along the M4 continues this week. Lane closures will be in place on the westbound carriageway overnight, between 9pm and 6am, until Friday 12 February (Monday to Friday only).

M4 junction 8/9 Maidenhead, Berkshire: street lighting maintenance

Work to improve safety by maintaining the street lighting along the M4 finishes this week. Lane closures will be in place on both carriageways and the slip roads at junction 8/9 overnight, between 9pm and 6am, until Friday 5 February.

M4 junctions 10 Wokingham to 11 Reading, Berkshire: bridge installation

Work to improve journeys by installing the new Reading University Bridge near Shinfield continues place this week. The M4 between junctions 10 and 11 will be closed in both directions overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday 1 February for 2 weeks (Monday to Friday only), to allow the concrete to be poured to form the new bridge deck.A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the B3270 and A329(M).

The new bridge is being installed over the M4, as part of the construction of the new Shinfield Eastern Relief Road, by HOCHTIEF (UK) Construction on behalf of the University of Reading.

M4 junction 13 Chieveley, West Berkshire: drainage maintenance

Work to improve safety by maintaining the drainage systems along the M4 takes place this week. Lane closures will be in place on all slip roads at the junction and 1 lane will be closed on the roundabout overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday 1 February for 5 nights.

M27 junction 3 Nursling, Hampshire: slip road surface repair

Work to maintain safety on the M27 junction 3 slip roads takes place this week.

The northbound exit to the M271 towards Romsey will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Monday 1 February. The westbound entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, from Wednesday 3 February for 2 nights.

Clearly signed diversions will be in place via junctions 2 and 5.

A31 Bere Regis to Red Post, Dorset: drainage maintenance

Work to improve drainage along the A31 in Dorset continues this week. The A31 will be closed in both directions overnight, between 10pm and 6am, from Monday 1 February until the end of March (Monday to Friday only). A clearly signed diversion will be in place from the Roundhouse roundabout via the A350 and A35. Access will be maintained for residents living within the closure and managed locally on site.

A34 Kings Worthy (Winchester), Hampshire: sign maintenance

Work to keep road users informed by maintaining the signage along the A34 takes place this week. One lane of the northbound carriageway will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Monday 1 February.

A34 Litchfield to Tothill, Hampshire: sign maintenance

Work to keep road users informed by maintaining the signage along the A34 takes place this week. One lane of both carriageways will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday 1 for 2 nights.

A34 Chilton interchange, Oxfordshire: junction improvement

Work to improve journey times and safety by constructing new slip roads and improving the layout of the Chilton interchange continues this week. Work is due to be completed in summer 2016.

The northbound exit slip road at the junction will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday 1 February for 3 weeks (Monday to Friday only).

A34 Milton interchange, Oxfordshire: junction improvement

Work to improve journey times and safety by improving the layout of the Milton interchange continues this week. Narrow lanes and a temporary speed limit will be in place 24/7. Work is due to be completed in spring 2016.

Work to keep road users informed by maintaining the signage along the A34 takes place this week. One lane of the southbound carriageway will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Monday 1 February.

Work to keep road users informed by maintaining the signage along the A34 takes place this week. One lane of both carriageways will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday 1 February for 4 nights.

A34 Peartree Interchange (Oxford), Oxfordshire: sign maintenance

Work to keep road users informed by maintaining the signage along the A34 takes place this week. One lane of the southbound carriageway and southbound exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday 1 February for 4 nights.

A34 Weston-on-the-Green, Oxfordshire: sign maintenance

Work to keep road users informed by maintaining the signage along the A34 takes place this week. The northbound exit and entry slip roads will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Wednesday 3 February for 3 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M40 junction roundabout and the Islip Interchange.
