The following summary of planned new and ongoing road improvements over the coming week is correct as of 29 July but could be subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances. All our improvement work is carried out with the aim of causing as little disruption as possible.

M3 junctions 2 (M25) to 4a Farnborough, Hampshire: Smart motorway improvement

Work to reduce congestion and improve journey times continues this week with narrow lanes, a contraflow and a 50mph speed limit in place on both carriageways between junctions 2 and 4a, with a free recovery service operating 24 hours a day until the end of 2016.

The southbound carriageway between junction 2 and junction 3 including the M25 clockwise and anti-clockwise link roads to the M3 southbound and junction 3 exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 8pm and 5.30am, from Monday 1 August for 2 nights. Clearly signed diversions will be in place via the M25 junction 13, A30 and A322. The northbound carriageway between junctions 3 and 2 including the junction 3 entry slip road and both link roads from the M3 junction 2 northbound to the M25 junction 12 will be closed overnight, between 8pm and 5.30am, on Wednesday 3 August. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A322, A30 and M25.

The northbound carriageway between junction 4 and junction 3 including the junction 4 entry slip road and junction 3 exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 8pm and 5.30am, from Monday 1 August for 5 nights. Work on Friday will take place between 8pm and 7am. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A331, A30 and A322.

M3 junction 13 Eastleigh to Chilworth Interchange, Hampshire: street lighting

Work to ensure road user safety by maintaining the lighting columns along the M3 continues this week. Lane closures will be in place on the southbound carriageway overnight, between 9pm and 6am, until Friday 12 August (Monday to Friday only).

In addition this week, the southbound exit and entry slip roads at junction 13 will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Tuesday 2 August for 4 nights. Clearly signed diversions will be in place via the next available junction. The northbound link from the Chilworth Roundabout will also be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Monday 1 August. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via Bassett Green Road and M27 junction 5.

M4 junctions 5 Slough to 7 Maidenhead, Berkshire: drainage and verge survey

Work to maintain safety by carrying out drainage and verge surveys continues this week. Lane closures will be in place on both carriageways overnight, between 9pm and 6am, until the autumn (Monday to Friday only).

M4 junctions 8/9 Maidenhead to 11 Reading / Wokingham, Berkshire: drainage and verge survey

M4 junctions 13 Chieveley to 14 Hungerford, West Berkshire: bridge survey

Work to improve journeys by carrying out structural surveys along the M4 continues this week. Lane closures will be in place on both carriageways overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday 1 August for 4 nights.

M27 junction 3 Southampton, Hampshire: bridge closure

Work to maintain safety by diverting utility cables as part of a scheme to replace the A3057 Romsey Road bridge continues this week. Narrow lane running will be in place on the bridge during both day and night time hours until Wednesday 31 August.

M27 junction 12 Portsmouth, Hampshire, Surrey: road marking

Work to improve journeys by renewing the road markings along the M27 continues this week. Lane closures will be in place on both carriageways, and on the links to and from the M275 overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday 1 August for 5 nights.

The westbound entry slip road at junction 11 will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Monday 1 August. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 12.

The link from the M275 northbound to the M27 eastbound carriageway will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Monday 1 August. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via A3 Northern Parade.

The link from the M275 northbound to the M27 westbound carriageway will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Tuesday 2 August. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via A3 Northern Parade and A27.

The east and westbound entry slip roads at junction 12 will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Tuesday 2 August. Clearly signed diversions will be in place via the A27 and junction 11.

The link from the M27 westbound carriageway to the M275 southbound carriageway will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Wednesday 3 August. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the next junction.

A3 Petersfield, Hampshire: road marking

Work to improve journeys by renewing the road markings along the A3 finishes this week. The southbound carriageway from the A272 Midhurst junction to the Weston Interchange will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Monday 1 August.

A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the B2070.

A##3 Petersfield to Horndean, Hampshire: road marking

Work to improve journeys by renewing the road markings along the A3 between Petersfield and Horndean starts this week. The southbound carriageway from the A272 Berelands junction to the A3(M) junction 1 will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Tuesday 2 August for 3 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A272, A32, M27 and A3(M).

The northbound carriageway between the A3(M) junction 2 and Petersfield will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Friday 5 August. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A3(M), M27, A32 and A272.

A34 Whitchurch, Hampshire: resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by resurfacing sections of the northbound carriageway near Whitchurch continues this week. The A34 northbound carriageway from Bullington Cross (A303) to Highclere Common will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, until Friday 12 August (Monday to Friday only).

A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A303, A3093 and A343.

A34 Chieveley, West Berkshire to Milton, Oxfordshire: drainage

Work to maintain road user safety by carrying out drainage maintenance along the A34 continues this week. Lane closures will be in place on the northbound carriageway overnight, between 9pm and 6am, until Friday 12 August (Monday to Friday only).
