Planned roadworks in and around the M25: weekly summary for Monday 9 November to Sunday 15 November

The following summary of planned new and ongoing road improvements over the coming week is correct as of 6 November 2015 but could be subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances. All our improvement work is carried out with the aim of causing as little disruption as possible.

M1 junction 2 Mill Hill, Greater London: bridge joint replacement

Work to improve journeys by replacing the bridge expansion joints over the A1 continues this week. The southbound exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday 9 November for 7 consecutive nights. Work on Saturday night will be between 9pm and 8am. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 1, the A41 and A1.

M3 junctions 1 Sunbury to 2 (M25), Surrey: electrical work

Work to improve journeys by carrying out electrical work will continue this week. The westbound carriageway will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, on Friday 13 November. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A308, A3044 and the A3113 to M25 junction 14.

M3 junctions 3 Lightwater to 2 (M25), Surrey: electrical work

Works to improve journeys by carrying out electrical work will continue this week. The eastbound carriageway including the junction 3 entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 5.30am, from Tuesday 10 November for 5 consecutive nights. Work on Friday will start at 10pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A322 and A30 to M25 junction 13. On Friday 13 November, a clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A322 and A30 to M25 junction 14.

M4 junctions 3 Hounslow to 1 Chiswick, Greater London: drainage work

Work to maintain journey quality by carrying out drainage work will start this week. The eastbound carriageway including Heston Services and the junction 2 entry slip roads will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, from Monday 9 November for 4 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A312 and the A4.

M4 junction 4 Heathrow, Greater London: carriageway resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing will start this week. The eastbound entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 11pm and 5am, on Friday 13 November. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 5 and return.

M4 junction 4b (M25), Greater London: carriageway resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing will continue this week. The eastbound link road to the M25 clockwise will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, from Tuesday 10 November for 4 nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M25 anti-clockwise to junction 14 and return.

M20 junction 1 Swanley, Kent: structural maintenance

Work to maintain journey quality by carrying out structural maintenance will start this week. The westbound carriageway will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, from Monday 9 November for 7 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the exit and entry slip roads.

M20 junction 2 Wrotham, Kent: drainage work

Work to maintain safety by carrying out drainage work will start this week. The eastbound exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 11pm and 5am, on Friday 13 November. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 4 and return via the M26 and the A20.

M25 junction 3 Swanley, Kent: drainage work

Work to maintain safety by carrying out drainage work will start this week. The clockwise link road to the M20 eastbound will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Monday 9 November. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A20 westbound to the A223/A224 roundabout and return.

M25 junction 5 Sevenoaks, Kent: litter clearance

Work to improve journeys by carrying out litter clearance starts this week. The anti-clockwise carriageway at the junction will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, from Tuesday 10 November for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A21, A25 and A21.

M25 junction 8 Reigate, Surrey: carriageway resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out carriageway resurfacing will start this week. The clockwise entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Thursday 12 November. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 6 and return.

M25 junction 9 Leatherhead, Surrey: carriageway resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out carriageway resurfacing will start this week. The anti-clockwise exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, on Monday 9 November. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 8 and return.

M25 Cobham Services, Surrey: litter clearance and carriageway sweeping

Work to improve journeys by clearing litter and sweeping the carriageway will start this week. The clockwise and anti-clockwise entry and exit slip roads will be closed overnight, at separate times between 10pm and 5am, on Sunday 15 November. Clearly signed diversions will be in place via junction 9 and junction 10.

M25 junction 11 Chertsey, Surrey: carriageway resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing will start this week. The anti-clockwise entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, on Wednesday 11 November. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 13 and return.

M25 junction 12 (M3), Surrey: carriageway resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing work will continue this week. The anti-clockwise link roads to the M3 in both directions will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Thursday 12 November for 2 nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 11 and return.

M25 junction 13 Staines-upon-Thames, Surrey: carriageway resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing work will continue this week. The anti-clockwise entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Thursday 12 November for 2 nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 14 and return.

M25 junction 17 Maple Cross, Hertfordshire: litter clearance

Work to improve journeys by carrying out litter clearance will start this week. The anti-clockwise exit and entry slip roads will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, from Thursday 12 November for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the exit slip road via junction 16 and the M40 eastbound to junction 1. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the entry slip road via junction 18 and return.

M25 junction 18 Chorleywood, Buckinghamshire: litter clearance

Work to improve journeys by completing litter clearance will start this week. The anti-clockwise entry and exit slip roads will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Tuesday 10 November. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the entry slip road via junction 20 and return. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the exit slip road via junction 17 and return.

The clockwise exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Wednesday 11 November. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 20 and return.

M25 junction 19 Watford, Hertfordshire: carriageway resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing continues this week. The anti-clockwise entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, on Sunday 15 November. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 20.

M25 junctions 19 Watford to 21a St Albans, Hertfordshire: bridge joint replacement

Work to improve journeys by replacing the bridge expansion joints over the Grand Union Canal continues this week. The clockwise entry slip road at junction 20 will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 9 November for 5 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 18 and return.

The clockwise carriageway including the entry slip roads at junctions 19, 20 and 21 will be closed overnight, between 9am and 9am, on Saturday 14 November. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A41, Hunton Bridge and A405 to M25 junction 21a.

M25 junction 24 Potters Bar, Hertfordshire: carriageway sweeping

Work to improve journeys by carrying out carriageway sweeping will start this week. The anti-clockwise entry and exit slip roads will be closed overnight, between 11pm and 5am, on Friday 13 November. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the entry slip road via junction 25 and return. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the exit slip road via junction 23 and return.

M25 junction 25 Enfield, Greater London: carriageway sweeping

Work to improve journeys by carrying out carriageway sweeping will start this week. The anti-clockwise exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Tuesday 10 November. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 24 and return.

M25 junction 26 Waltham Abbey, Essex: carriageway sweeping

Work to improve journeys by carrying out carriageway sweeping will continue this week. The anti-clockwise entry and exit slip roads will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Monday 9 November. A clearly signed diversion for the entry slip road will be in place via junction 28 and return. A clearly signed diversion for the exit slip road will be in place via junction 25 and return.

M25 junction 31 Lakeside, Essex: carriageway resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing and structure maintenance will continue this week. The clockwise entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, on Monday 9 November and from Thursday 12 November for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 30 and return.

M26 junction 2a Wrotham Heath, Kent: carriageway resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing will start this week. The westbound exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, from Monday 9 November for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place from M20 junction 4, via A228 and the A20.

The eastbound entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, from Monday 9 November for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A20, A228 to M20 junction 4.

The eastbound exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, from Wednesday 11 November for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via M20 junction 4 and return.

The westbound entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, from Wednesday 11 November for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A20, A228 to M20 junction 4.

A1(M) junctions 4 Hatfield to 2 Welham Green, Hertfordshire: carriageway surveying

Work to maintain journey quality by carrying out carriageway surveying will start this week. The southbound carriageway and junction 4 entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10.30pm and 5am, on Wednesday 11 November and on Friday 13 November. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A1001 to junction 2.

The northbound carriageway and junction 3 entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10.30pm and 5am, on Thursday 12 November and Saturday 14 November. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A1001 to junction 4.

A3 Painshill, Surrey: carriageway resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing will continue this week. The southbound exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, on Monday 9 November. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M25 junction 10 roundabout and return.

A13/M25 junction 30 Thurrock, Essex: major improvement

Work to reduce congestion and improve safety continues this week as part of a major scheme to widen the A13 and the M25 junction 30 roundabout and slip roads. Narrow lanes and a 40mph speed limit are in place with a free recovery service operating 24 hours a day. There will be additional overnight lane and slip road closures as required. All closures will have a clearly signed diversion in place.

The eastbound A13 carriageway between Wennington and North Stifford, including the entry slip road from the M25 junction 30, will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, on Monday 9 November. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A1306, West Thurrock Arterial Road and the A1012.

The westbound A13 carriageway between North Stifford and Wennington, including the entry slip roads from the A126 and the M25 junction 30, will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Wednesday 11 November for 3 nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A1012, West Thurrock Arterial Road and the A1306.

The eastbound A13 entry slip road from the M25 junction 30 will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, on Tuesday 10 November. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via M25 junction 31, A1306 and the A1012.

The eastbound A13 exit slip road to the A126 will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, on Tuesday 10 November. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A1012 and the A1306.

A282 junction 1a Swanscombe, Kent: tunnel maintenance/Dart Charge construction work

Work to maintain safety on the A282 Dartford Crossing will continue this week.

The southbound exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 9 November for 3 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 1b and return.

The northbound carriageway will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, on Thursday 12 November. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the exit and entry slip roads.

The northbound entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 8.30pm and 5.30am, from Friday 13 November for 2 nights. Work on Friday will start at 9pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A282 southbound to junction 1b and return.

A282 (M25) Dartford – Thurrock Crossing: maintenance work

Work to improve journeys at the Dartford Crossing will continue this week. The following closures will be in place with a fully signed diversion for oversized vehicles for the northbound east tunnel closures.

  • Monday 9 November (8.30pm to 5.30am): northbound east tunnel
  • Tuesday 10 November (8.30pm to 5.30am): northbound east tunnel
  • Wednesday 11 November (8.30pm to 5.30am): northbound east tunnel
  • Thursday 12 November (8.30pm to 5.30am): northbound east tunnel
  • Friday 13 November (9.30pm to 5.30am): northbound west tunnel
  • Saturday 14 November (8.30pm to 5.30am): northbound west tunnel
  • Sunday 15 November (8.30pm to 5.30am): northbound east tunnel

The QEII Bridge will have 3 (of 4) lanes closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, on Monday 9, Thursday 12 and Friday 13 November.

A316 Sunbury-on-Thames, Surrey: carriageway resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by resurfacing the carriageway will start this week. The eastbound carriageway between the M3 junction 1 and the A312 will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 9 November for 3 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A308 and the A312.

The westbound carriageway between the A312 and M3 junction 1 will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Thursday 12 November for 2 nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A312 and the A308.

A1306 Thurrock, Essex: carriageway resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by resurfacing the carriageway will start this week. The northbound link road between M25 junctions 31 and 30 will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, from Tuesday 10 November for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A1306 and the A13.
