The following summary of planned new and ongoing road improvements over the coming week is correct as of 5 August 2016 but could be subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances. All our improvement work is carried out with the aim of causing as little disruption as possible.

M1 junction 3 London Gateway Motorway Service Area, Greater London: road marking

Work to maintain safety by carrying out road marking work will start this week. The southbound exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Thursday 11 August. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 1 and return.

M1 junction 6a (M25), Hertfordshire: electrical repair

Work to maintain safety by carrying out electrical repairs will start this week. The dedicated link road from the M1 southbound to the M25 anti-clockwise will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Wednesday 10 August. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M25 clockwise to junction 22 and return.

M3 junctions 3 Lightwater to 2 (M25), Surrey: major improvement

Work to reduce congestion and improve journey times continues this week with narrow lanes, a contraflow and a 50mph speed limit in place on both carriageways between junctions 2 and 4a, with a free recovery service operating 24 hours a day until the end of 2016.

The northbound carriageway between junctions 3 and 2 will be closed overnight, between 8pm and 5.30am, on Monday 8 August. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A322 and A30 to M25 junction 13.

M4 junction 5 Langley, Berkshire: bridge joint replacement

Work to maintain safety by carrying out bridge joint replacement continues this week. The carriageway between the slip roads will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Tuesday 9 August for 4 nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the exit and entry slip roads.

M11 junction 6 (M25), Essex: road marking

Work to maintain safety by carrying out road marking will start this week. The dedicated link road from the M11 northbound to the M25 anti-clockwise will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Tuesday 9 August. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via M11 junction 7 and return.

M23 junction 8 (M25), Surrey: structural inspection

Work to maintain safety by carrying out structural inspections will start this week. The dedicated link road from the M23 southbound to the M25 in both directions will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Wednesday 10 August. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via M23 junction 9 and return.

M25 junction 3 (M20), Kent: resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing continues this week. The dedicated link road from the M25 clockwise to the M20 eastbound will be closed overnight, between 11pm and 6am, on Friday 12 August and between 10pm and 5.30am on Sunday 14 August. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M25 junction 3 roundabout.

M25 junction 6 Godstone, Surrey: electrical repair / barrier repair

Work to maintain safety by carrying out electrical and barrier repairs will start this week. The anti-clockwise exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Monday 8 August. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 4 and return.

M25 junction 9 Leatherhead, Surrey: electrical repair / resurfacing

Work to maintain safety by carrying out electrical repairs and resurfacing continues this week. The anti-clockwise exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Tuesday 9 August. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 8 and return.

Work to maintain safety by carrying out electrical repairs will start this week. The anti-clockwise entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Monday 8 August. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 10 and return.

M25 junction 10 (A3), Surrey: resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing will start this week. The anti-clockwise exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Wednesday 10 August for 3 nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 9 and return.

M25 junctions 11 Chertsey to 10 (A3), Surrey: bridge joint replacement

Work to improve journeys by carrying out bridge joint replacement on the structure that carries the M25 over the River Wey and the South West Trains railway line continues this week. The anti-clockwise carriageway and junction 11 entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 8am, on Saturday 13 August. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A317, A320, A245 and A3 to M25 junction 10.

M25 junction 12 (M3), Surrey: major improvement

Work to reduce congestion and improve journey times continues this week. The dedicated link roads from the M3 northbound to the M25 in both directions will be closed overnight, between 8pm and 5.30am, on Monday 8 August. A clearly signed diversion will be in place from M3 junction 3, via the A322 and the A30 to M25 junction 13.

M25 junction 14 (A3113), Greater London: electrical repair

Work to maintain safety by carrying out electrical repairs continues this week. The clockwise exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Wednesday 10 August. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 15, the M4 eastbound to junction 4 and return.

M25 Heathrow Terminal 5, Greater London: electrical repair

Work to maintain safety by carrying out electrical repairs will start this week. The dedicated link road from Terminal 5 to the M25 anti-clockwise will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Wednesday 10 August. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M25 clockwise to junction 15, M4 junction 4 and return.

M25 junction 15 (M4), Greater London: drainage survey

Work to maintain safety by carrying out drainage repairs will start this week. The dedicated link road from the M25 clockwise to the M4 westbound will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, from Monday 8 August for 7 consecutive nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M4 eastbound to junction 4 and return.

M25 junction 16 (M40), Buckinghamshire: resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing continues this week. The clockwise carriageway between the slip roads will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 5 August for 5 nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M40 eastbound to junction 1 and return.

M25 junction 24 Potters Bar, Hertfordshire: electrical repair

Work to maintain safety by carrying out electrical repairs will start this week. The clockwise entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 8 August for 5 nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 23 and return.

The anti-clockwise exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Wednesday 10 August for 3 nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 23 and return.

The clockwise exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Thursday 11 August for 4 consecutive nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 25 and return.

M25 junction 25 Enfield, Hertfordshire: resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing will start this week. The anti-clockwise entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, on Monday 8 August. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 26 and return.

M25 junction 28 (A12), Essex: litter clearance

Work to improve journeys by carrying out litter clearance will start this week. The clockwise exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Wednesday 10 August. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 29 and return.

The anti-clockwise entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Thursday 11 August. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 29 and return.

M25 junction 29 (A127), Essex: litter clearance

Work to improve journeys by carrying out litter clearance will start this week. The clockwise entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Monday 8 August. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 28 and return.

The anti-clockwise exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Tuesday 9 August. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 28 and return.

M25 junction 30 Thurrock, Essex: major improvement

Work to reduce congestion and improve safety continues this week as part of a major scheme to widen the A13 and the M25 junction 30 roundabout and slip roads. The anti-clockwise entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 11pm and 6am, on Friday 12 August. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A13 eastbound, A128 and A127 to M25 junction 29.

M25 junctions 30 Thurrock to 31 Lakeside, Essex: major improvement

Work to reduce congestion and improve safety continues this week as part of a major scheme to widen the A13 and the M25 junction 30 roundabout and slip roads. The clockwise carriageway will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 8 August for 2 nights, and between 10pm and 10am on Saturday 13 August. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the link road between junctions 30 and 31.

The anti-clockwise carriageway will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Wednesday 10 August for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the link road between junctions 31 and 30.

The clockwise (southbound) link road between junctions 30 and 31 will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Wednesday 10 August for 3 nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A13, Wennington Interchange, A1306 and M25 junction 31.

M40 junction 1a, Buckinghamshire: resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing continues this week. The dedicated link road from the M40 eastbound to the M25 in both directions will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 8 August for 5 nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M40 eastbound to junction 1 and return.

A1(M) junctions 3 Colney Heath – 4 Hatfield, Hertfordshire: barrier repair

Work to maintain safety by carrying out barrier repairs continues this week. The northbound carriageway (including Hatfield Tunnel) will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Wednesday 10 August for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A1001 to junction 4.

A2 (M25), Kent: resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing continues this week. The dedicated link road from the A2 westbound to the M25 clockwise will be closed overnight, between 11pm and 6am, on Friday 12 August and between 10pm and 5.30am on Sunday 14 August. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M25 junction 2 roundabout.

A13/M25 junction 30 Thurrock, Essex: major improvement

Work to reduce congestion and improve safety continues this week as part of a major scheme to widen the A13 and the M25 junction 30 roundabout and slip roads. On the A13, narrow lanes and a 40mph speed limit are in place and on the M25, narrow lanes and a 50mph speed limit are in place. A free recovery service will operate 24 hours a day. There will be additional overnight lane and slip road closures as required. All closures will have a clearly signed diversion in place.

The westbound A13 carriageway between North Stifford (A1012) and Wennington (A1306) will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 8 August for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A1012 and A1306.

The westbound A13 carriageway between North Stifford (A1012) and M25 junction 30 will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Wednesday 10 August for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A1012, A1306, M25 junction 31 and the link road to junction 30.

A13 Tilbury, Essex: electrical repair

Work to maintain safety by carrying out electrical repairs will start this week. The eastbound carriageway will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Monday 8 August. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A1089 to Asda Roundabout and return.

A23 London Road North, Merstham, Surrey: gas upgrade

Work by SGN to maintain safety by carrying out gas network upgrades will start this week. One lane (of two) will be closed northbound adjacent to Glebe Road, 24 hours a day, from Monday 8 August for approximately 4 weeks. A 40mph temporary speed limit will be in place for the duration of the work.

A225 Princes Road, Dartford, Kent: resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing will start this week. The eastbound carriageway between Park Road and the A282 junction 1b will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 8 August for 3 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A2 and A282 junction 2.

A282 junction 1a Swanscombe, Kent: maintenance

Work to maintain safety by carrying out tunnel maintenance continues this week. The northbound entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 9.30pm and 5.30am, from Friday 12 August for 2 nights. Work on Saturday will start at 9pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A282 southbound to junction 1b and return.

A282 junction 1b Dartford, Kent: resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing will start this week. The southbound exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 8 August for 3 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A282/M25 junction 2 and the A2.

A282 junctions 1b Dartford to 2 (A2), Kent: resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing continues this week. The clockwise carriageway will be closed overnight, between 11pm and 6am, on Friday 12 August and between 10pm and 5.30am on Sunday 14 August. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the exit slip road at junction 1b and the dedicated link road to junction 2.

The anti-clockwise link road between junctions 2 and 1b will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 8 August for 3 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 2 and the A2.

A282 (M25) Dartford – Thurrock Crossing: maintenance

Work to improve journeys at the Dartford Crossing continues this week. The following closures will be in place with a fully signed diversion for oversized vehicles for the northbound east tunnel closures:

  • Monday 8 August (9pm to 5.30am) northbound east tunnel
  • Tuesday 9 August (9pm to 5.30am) northbound east tunnel
  • Wednesday 10 August (9pm to 5.30am) northbound east tunnel
  • Thursday 11 August (9pm to 5.30am) northbound east tunnel
  • Friday 12 August (9.30pm to 5.30am) northbound west tunnel
  • Saturday 13 August (9pm to 5.30am) northbound east tunnel
  • Sunday 14 August (9pm to 5.30am) northbound east tunnel

A296 Princes Road, Dartford, Kent: resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing will start this week. The westbound carriageway between Watling Street and the A282 junction 1b will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 8 August for 3 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via A296 Watling Street and the A2.
