Planned roadworks in and around the M25: weekly summary for Monday 7 December to Sunday 13 December

The following summary of planned new and ongoing road improvements over the coming week is correct as of 4 December 2015 but could be subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances. All our improvement work is carried out with the aim of causing as little disruption as possible.

M1 junction 2 Mill Hill, Greater London: bridge joint replacement

Work to improve journeys by replacing the bridge expansion joints over the A1 continues this week. The southbound exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday 7 December for 7 consecutive nights. Work on Saturday night will be between 9pm and 8am. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 1, the A41 and A1.

M1 junction 5 Watford, Hertfordshire: litter clearance

Work to improve journeys by clearing litter will start this week. The northbound entry and exit slip roads will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Monday 7 December. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the entry slip road via junction 4 and return. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the exit slip road via junction 6.

M1 junction 6 Bricket Wood, Hertfordshire: litter clearance/carriageway resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by clearing litter and resurfacing will start this week. The northbound entry and exit slip roads will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Tuesday 8 December. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the entry slip road via the A405 and A414. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the exit slip road via junction 8.

The southbound entry and exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Wednesday 9 December. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the entry slip road via the M1 northbound to junction 8 and return. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the exit slip road via junction 5.

M1 junction 6a (M25), Hertfordshire: bridge joint replacement

Work to improve journeys by replacing the bridge expansion joints over the Grand Union Canal continues this week. The southbound exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 6am, on Saturday 12 December. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 6 and return.

M3 junction 1 Sunbury, Surrey: electrical work

Work to improve journeys by carrying out electrical work continues this week. The southbound exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 7 December for 5 nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A308 and A311.

M25 junctions 4 Bromley to 5 Sevenoaks, Kent: carriageway resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing will start this week. The clockwise carriageway and junction 4 entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Wednesday 9 December for 3 nights. Work on Friday night will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A224 southbound and A25.

M25 junction 6 Godstone, Surrey: carriageway sweeping

Work to improve journeys by carrying out carriageway sweeping will start this week. The clockwise entry and exit slip roads will be closed overnight, between 11pm and 5am, on Friday 11 December. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the entry slip road via the M25 anti-clockwise to junction 5, A21 and the A25. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the exit slip road via junction 8.

M25 junction 7 (M23), Surrey: carriageway surfacing/parapet repair

Work to improve journeys by carrying out retexturing and parapet repairs work will start this week. The anti-clockwise link roads to the M23 southbound will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Wednesday 9 December for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 6.

M25 junction 8 Reigate, Surrey: inspection work

Work to improve journeys by carrying out inspections will start this week. The clockwise entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, on Monday 7 December. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M25 anti-clockwise to junction 6 and return.

M25 junction 9 Leatherhead, Surrey: inspection work

Work to improve journeys by carrying out inspections will start this week. The clockwise entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Tuesday 8 December for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M25 anti-clockwise to junction 8 and return.

M25 Cobham Services Area, Surrey: inspection work

Work to improve journeys by carrying out inspections will start this week. The clockwise entry and exit slip roads will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 7 December for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the entry slip road via the M25 anti-clockwise to junction 9 and return. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the exit slip road via junction 10.

M25 junction 12 (M3), Surrey: carriageway surfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out retexturing work will start this week. The anti-clockwise link road to the M3 in both directions will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 7 December for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 11.

M25 junctions 16 (M40) to 17 Maple Cross, Hertfordshire: bridge joint replacement

Work to maintain journeys by undertaking bridge joint replacement will start this week. The clockwise carriageway and junction 16 entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, on Monday 7 December. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M40, A40, A412 and A405 to junction 17.

M25 junction 16 (M40), Buckinghamshire: signage maintenance

Work to improve journeys by carrying out signage maintenance will start this week. The clockwise link roads to both directions of the M40 will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Tuesday 8 December for 4 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 17 and return.

M25 junction 18 Chorleywood, Hertfordshire: carriageway resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing will continue this week. The anti-clockwise entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Thursday 10 December for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M25 clockwise to junction 19 and return.

The clockwise entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, on Sunday 13 December. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M25 anti-clockwise to junction 17 and return.

M25 junction 19 Watford, Hertfordshire: carriageway resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing will start this week. The clockwise exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, on Sunday 13 December. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 20.

M25 junction 20 Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire: bridge joint replacement

Work to improve journeys by carrying out horticultural work will start this week. The anti-clockwise exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Monday 7 December. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 18.

The clockwise exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 11pm and 5am, on Friday 11 December. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 21a.

M25 junctions 21a St Albans to 20 Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire: bridge joint replacement

Work to improve journeys by replacing the bridge expansion joints over the Grand Union Canal continues this week. The anti-clockwise carriageway will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 6am, on Saturday 12 December. A clearly signed diversion for traffic wishing to continue on the M25 will be in place via the A405 and A41 to M25 junction 20. A clearly signed diversion for traffic wishing to access the M1 northbound will be in place via the A405 and A414 to M1 junction 8.

M25 junction 24 Potters Bar, Hertfordshire: carriageway sweeping

Work to improve journeys by carrying out carriageway sweeping will start this week. The clockwise exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Tuesday 8 December. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 25.

M25 junction 25 Enfield (A10), Hertfordshire: carriageway sweeping / tunnel maintenance

Work to improve journeys by carrying out carriageway sweeping will start this week. The clockwise exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Thursday 10 December. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 26.

Work to maintain journeys by carrying out tunnel maintenance will continue this week. The clockwise entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Saturday 12 December. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M25 anti-clockwise to junction 24 and return.

M25 junction 27 (M11), Essex: carriageway resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing will start this week. The link road from the M25 clockwise to the M11 northbound will be closed overnight, between 11pm and 6am, on Friday 11 December. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 28 and return.

M25 junction 30 (A13) Thurrock, Essex: major improvement

Work to reduce congestion and improve safety continues this week as part of a major scheme to widen the A13 and the M25 junction 30 roundabout and slip roads. The clockwise carriageway will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, on Thursday 10 December. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the exit slip road, Mardyke Viaduct and M25 junction 31 entry slip road.

The anti-clockwise carriageway between the junction slip roads will be closed overnight, between 11pm and 5.30am, on Friday 11 December. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the exit and entry slip roads.

M40 junction 1 Denham, Buckinghamshire: litter clearance

Work to improve journeys by clearing litter will start this week. The westbound exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Thursday 10 December. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via Swakeleys roundabout, the B483 and A4020.

The eastbound entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 11pm and 5am, on Friday 11 December. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A4020, B483 to Swakeleys roundabout.

M40 junction 1a (M25), Buckinghamshire: horticulture work

Work to improve journeys by carrying out horticulture work will start this week. The eastbound link road to the M25 anti-clockwise will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Tuesday 8 December. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 1.

A1(M) junctions 3 Hatfield to 1 South Mimms, hertfordshire: Inspection work

Work to improve journeys by carrying out inspections starts this week. The southbound carriageway and entry slip roads will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, from Wednesday 9 December for 3 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A414, A1081 to the M25 junction 22 anti-clockwise to junction 23.

A3 Ockham, Surrey: carriageway resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by clearing litter and carrying out resurfacing will continue this week. The northbound entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, from Tuesday 8 December, for 3 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the B2215, A247, A3 and the A3100.

A3 Esher, Surrey: litter clearance

Work to improve journeys by clearing litter will start this week. The northbound entry and exit slip roads will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Monday 7 December. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the entry slip road via the A3 southbound to Painshill interchange and return. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the exit slip road via the Tolworth interchange.

A3 Painshill, Surrey: Litter clearance / carriageway resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by clearing litter will start this week. The southbound entry and exit slip roads will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Tuesday 8 December. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the entry slip road via the A3 northbound to Esher interchange and return. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the exit slip road via the Wisley interchange.

A3 Copsem Lane, Surrey: horticultural work

Work to improve journeys by carrying out horticultural work will start this week. The southbound entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, from Wednesday 9 December for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A3 northbound to Tolworth interchange and return.

A3 Wisley, Surrey: carriageway resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing will start this week. The southbound entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Thursday 10 December. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A3 northbound to the Painshill interchange.

A13/M25 junction 30 Thurrock, Essex: major improvement

Work to reduce congestion and improve safety continues this week as part of a major scheme to widen the A13 and the M25 junction 30 roundabout and slip roads. On the A13, narrow lanes and a 40mph speed limit are in place and on the M25, narrow lanes and a 50mph speed limit are in place. A free recovery service will operate 24 hours a day. There will be additional overnight lane and slip road closures as required. All closures will have a clearly signed diversion in place.

The eastbound A13 carriageway between Wennington and North Stifford including the slip road from the M25 junction 30 will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 7 December for 4 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A1306, West Thurrock Arterial Road and the A1012.

A21 Sevenoaks, Kent: carriageway sweeping

Work to improve journeys by carrying out carriageway sweeping will start this week. The northbound link road to the M25 clockwise will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Monday 7 December. A clearly signed diversion will be in place the M25 anti-clockwise to junction 4 and return.

A282 junction 1a Swanscombe, Kent: tunnel maintenance

Work to maintain safety on the A282 Dartford Crossing will continue this week. The northbound entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 5.30am, from Friday 11 December for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A282 southbound to junction 1b and return.

A282 (M25) Dartford – Thurrock Crossing: maintenance work

Work to improve journeys at the Dartford Crossing will continue this week. The following closures will be in place with a fully signed diversion for oversized vehicles for the northbound east tunnel closures.

  • Monday 7 December (8.30pm to 5.30am): northbound east tunnel
  • Tuesday 8 December (8.30pm to 5.30am): northbound east tunnel
  • Wednesday 9 December (8.30pm to 5.30am): northbound east tunnel

A405 Bricket Wood, Hertfordshire: carriageway resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing will start this week. The northbound to southbound crossover point at Chequers Lane will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, on Monday 7 December. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via M25 junction 21a and return.
