Planned roadworks in and around the M25: Weekly summary for Monday 7 September - Sunday 13 September

The following summary of planned new and ongoing road improvements over the coming week is correct as of 4 September 2015 but could be subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances. All our improvement work is carried out with the aim of causing as little disruption as possible.

M11 junction 4 Woodford Green, Greater London: Transport for London construction work

Road users are advised that construction work continues on the A406 this week. The southbound link road to the A406 eastbound will have lane closures and a 30mph speed restriction in place from Sunday 6 September. Additional full closures will also be required on occasions with signed diversions in place.

M20 junction 3 (M26) to junction 1 (M25), Kent: Carriageway resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing work will continue this week. The westbound carriageway including the junction 3 and 2 entry slip roads will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, on Monday 7 September. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M26 and A20.

M20 junction 2 Wrotham, Kent: Electrical work

Work to improve journeys by carrying out electrical work will start this week. The eastbound exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Thursday 10 September. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 4, the M20 westbound to junction 3, the M26 westbound and the A20 northbound.

M23 junction 8 (M25), Surrey: Carriageway resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out carriageway resurfacing will start this week. The north and southbound link roads to the M25 anti-clockwise will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 7 September for 5 nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M25 clockwise to junction 8 and return.

M25 junction 9 Leatherhead, Surrey: Carriageway treatment

Work to improve journeys by carrying out carriageway retexturing will start this week. The anti-clockwise exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Tuesday 8 September for 3 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 8.

M25 Cobham Motorway Services, Surrey: Litter clearance/carriageway sweeping

Work to improve journeys by carrying out litter clearance will start this week. The clockwise and anti-clockwise entry and exit slip roads will be closed overnight, at separate times between 10pm and 5am, on Monday 7 September. Clearly signed diversions will be in place via junction 9 and junction 10.

M25 junction 10 (A3) Guildford, Surrey: Carriageway resurfacing / litter clearance

Work to improve journeys by carrying out carriageway resurfacing will continue this week. The clockwise entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 7 September for 5 nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M25 anti-clockwise to junction 9 and return.

Work to improve journeys by carrying out litter clearance will also start this week. The clockwise exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Wednesday 9 September. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 11.

M25 junction 12 (M3), Surrey: Electrical work

Work to improve journeys by carrying out electrical works will continue this week. The M25 clockwise link road to the M3 southbound will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am from Monday 7 September for 7 consecutive nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M25 junction 13 and A30 to M3 junction 3.

The M25 anti-clockwise link road to the M3 southbound will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am from Monday 7 September for 7 consecutive nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via M25 junction 11 and return, to M25 junction 13 and the A30 to M3 junction 3.

M25 junction 14 Heathrow, Middlesex: Carriageway resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing will start this week. The clockwise entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Wednesday 9 September for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M25 anti-clockwise to junction 13 and return.

M25 junctions 16 (M40) to 17 Maple Cross, Hertfordshire: Expansion joint replacement

Work to improve journeys by carrying out expansion joint replacement will start this week. The clockwise carriageway will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Wednesday 9 September for 5 consecutive nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M40 eastbound, A40 northbound, the A412 to rejoin the M25 at junction 17.

M25 junction 19 Watford, Hertfordshire: Carriageway resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing will start this week. The clockwise exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, on Sunday 13 September. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 20.

M25 junction 20 Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire: Bridge joint replacement work

Work to improve journeys by replacing bridge joints continues this week. The clockwise entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 7 September for 5 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M25 anti-clockwise to junction 18 and return.

M25 junction 21 (M1), Hertfordshire: Inspection work

Work to maintain journeys by carrying out inspections will start this week. The clockwise link road to the M1 northbound will be closed overnight, between 11.45pm and 5.30am, on Tuesday 8 September. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 22.

M25 junction 24 Potters Bar, Hertfordshire: Electrical work

Work to improve journeys by carrying out electrical work will start this week. The anti-clockwise exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, from Monday 7 September for 3 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 23.

M25 junction 25 (A10) Hertfordshire: Surface treatment

Work to improve journeys by carrying out joint sealing will start this week. The clockwise entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, on Wednesday 9 September. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via M25 anti-clockwise to junction 24 and return.

The anti-clockwise exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Thursday 10 September for 2 nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 24.

M25 junction 31 Lakeside, Essex: Carriageway resurfacing and structure maintenance

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing and structure maintenance will continue this week. The clockwise entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Tuesday 8 September for 6 consecutive nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 30.

M40 junction 1a (M25), Buckinghamshire: Carriageway resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out carriageway resurfacing will start this week. The westbound link roads to the M25 will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 7 September for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the M40 junction 2.

A1(M) junctions 4 Hertford to 2 Welham Green, Hertfordshire: Inspection work

Work to maintain journeys by carrying out inspections will start this week. The southbound carriageway including the entry slip road at junction 4 will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, from Wednesday 9 September for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A1001.

A2 (M25/A282), Kent: Litter clearance

Work to improve journeys by carrying out litter clearance will start this week. The westbound link road to the A282 northbound will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Monday 7 September. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the junction 2 roundabout.

A2 Dartford Heath, Kent: Carriageway resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out carriageway resurfacing will start this week. The westbound exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Wednesday 9 September for 3 nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A220.

A3 Wisley, Surrey: Litter clearance

Work to improve journeys by carrying out litter clearance starts this week. The southbound entry and exit slip roads will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Monday 7 September. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the entry slip road via the A3 northbound to the Painshill junction and return. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the exit slip road via the Ockham junction.

The northbound entry and exit slip roads will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Tuesday 8 September. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the entry slip road via the A3 southbound to the Ockham junction and return. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the exit slip road via the Painshill junction.

A3 Ockham, Surrey: Litter clearance

The southbound exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 11pm and 5am, on Friday 11 September. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A3100 Burpham and the B2215.

A13/M25 junction 30 Thurrock, Essex: Major improvement

Work to reduce congestion and improve safety continues this week as part of a major scheme to widen the A13 and the M25 junction 30 roundabout and slip roads. Narrow lanes and a 40mph speed limit are in place with a free recovery service operating 24 hours a day. There will be additional overnight lane and slip road closures as required. All closures will have a clearly signed diversion in place.

The eastbound carriageway between Wennington and North Stifford, including the entry slip road from the M25 junction 30, will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 7 September for 3 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A1306, West Thurrock Arterial Road and the A1012.

The westbound A13 carriageway between North Stifford and Wennington, including the entry slip roads from the A126 and the M25 junction 30, will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Thursday 10 September for 2 nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A1012, West Thurrock Arterial Road and the A1306.

A23 Hooley, Surrey: Gas main replacement work

Road users are advised that Southern Gas Networks roadworks to replace the gas main on the A23 continue this week. The work started on Monday 27 July and is expected to last approximately 7 weeks.

There will be narrow lanes and a 20mph speed limit in place for the duration of the work. Access to and from Church Lane will be closed throughout the project with clearly signed diversions in place.

A206 Cotton Lane, Swanscombe, Kent: Carriageway resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing will start this week. The westbound carriageway will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Tuesday 8 September for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A282 to junction 1b.

A282 junction 1a Swanscombe, Kent: Tunnel maintenance/Dart Charge construction works

Work to improve journeys at the Dartford Crossing will continue this week. The northbound entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 8.30pm and 5.30am, on Tuesday 8 September for 3 nights and also on Saturday 12 September. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A282 southbound to junction 1b and return.

The main carriageway will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, on Friday 11 September. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the junction 1a exit and entry slip roads.

The southbound exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Friday 11 September for 3 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 1b.

A282 (M25) Dartford – Thurrock Crossing: Maintenance work

Work to improve journeys at the Dartford Crossing will continue this week. The following closures will be in place with a fully signed diversion for oversized vehicles for the northbound east tunnel closures.

  • Monday 7 September (8.30pm to 5.30am): northbound east tunnel
  • Tuesday 8 September (8.30pm to 5.30am): northbound west tunnel
  • Wednesday 9 September (8.30pm to 5.30am): northbound west tunnel
  • Thursday 10 September (8.30pm to 5.30am): northbound west tunnel
  • Friday 11 September (9.30pm to 5.30am): northbound east tunnel
  • Saturday 12 September (8.30pm to 5.30am): northbound west tunnel
  • Sunday 13 September (8.30pm to 5.30am): northbound east tunnel

The QEII Bridge will have three (of four) lanes closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Tuesday 8 September for 6 nights.

A406 Woodford Green, Greater London: Transport for London construction work

Road users are advised that construction work continues on the A406 this week. The westbound link road to the M11 northbound will have lane closures and a 30mph speed restriction in place from Sunday 6 September.
