The following summary of planned new and ongoing road improvements over the coming week is correct as of 1 July 2016 but could be subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances. All our improvement work is carried out with the aim of causing as little disruption as possible.

M1 junction 2 Mill Hill, Greater London: lighting repair

Work to improve journeys by carrying out lighting repairs continues this week. The southbound exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Wednesday 6 July for 3 nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via M1 junction 1, the A406, A41 and the A1.

M3 junctions 2 (M25) to 4a Farnborough, Hampshire: smart motorway improvement

Work to reduce congestion and improve journey times continues this week with narrow lanes, a contraflow and a 50mph speed limit in place on both carriageways between junctions 2 and 4a, with a free recovery service operating 24 hours a day until the end of 2016.

The dedicated link road from the M3 northbound to the M25 in both directions will be closed overnight, between 8pm and 5.30am, from Monday 4 July for 5 nights. Work on Saturday morning will finish at 7am. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via M3 junction 3, the A322 and A30 to M25 junction 13.

M25 junctions 3 Swanley to 4 Orpington, Kent: resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing will start this week. The clockwise carriageway (including junction 3 entry slip road) will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 4 July for 5 nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A20, A224, and M25 junction 4 spur road to M25 junction 4.

M25 junction 5 Sevenoaks, Kent: carriageway sweeping

Work to improve journeys by carrying out carriageway sweeping will start this week. The dedicated link road from the A21 northbound to the M25 clockwise will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Monday 4 July. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 4 and return.

M25 Cobham Services, Surrey: resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing will start this week. The clockwise exit and entry slip roads will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 4 July for 5 nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the exit slip road via junction 10 and return. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for the entry slip road via the M25 anti-clockwise to junction 9 and return.

M25 junction 23 South Mimms, Hertfordshire: carriageway sweeping

Work to improve journeys by carrying out carriageway sweeping will start this week. The clockwise entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Monday 4 July. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 22 and return.

M25 junction 25 (A10), Greater London: resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing continues this week. The anti-clockwise exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, on Monday 4 July. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 24 and return. The anti-clockwise entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Tuesday 5 July for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A1055, A1010, A121, A10 and M25 clockwise to junction 26 and return.

The clockwise exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Thursday 7 July for 2 nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 26 and return.

M25 junctions 30 Thurrock to 31 Lakeside, Essex: major improvement

Work to reduce congestion and improve safety continues this week as part of a major scheme to widen the A13 and the M25 junction 30 roundabout and slip roads. The clockwise carriageway will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, on Monday 4 July. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the dedicated link road between junctions 30 and 31.

The dedicated southbound link road between junctions 30 and 31 will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, on Tuesday 5 July. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A13, A1306 and M25 junction 31.

The clockwise exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, on Wednesday 6 July. A clearly signed pre-diversion will be in place via junction 29, A127 and A13. A secondary diversion will be available via junction 1a and return (not suitable for vehicles which exceed 4.8m in height).

M25 junctions 31 Lakeside to 30 Thurrock, Essex: major improvement

Work to reduce congestion and improve safety continues this week as part of a major scheme to widen the A13 and the M25 junction 30 roundabout and slip roads. The anti-clockwise carriageway will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am on Wednesday 6 July. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the dedicated link road between M25 junctions 31 and 30.

A10 Enfield, Greater London: resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing continues this week. The southbound carriageway between Great Eastern Road and M25 junction 25 will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, on Monday 4 July. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A10, A121, A1010 and A1055.

The southbound carriageway between M25 junction 25 and Bullsmoor Lane will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, on Monday 4 July. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via M25 junction 24, A10, A121, A1010 and A1055.

The northbound carriageway between Bullsmoor Lane and M25 junction 25 will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Tuesday 5 July for 2 nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A1055, A1010, A121 and A10.

The northbound carriageway between M25 junction 25 and Great Eastern Road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Thursday 7 July for 2 nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via M25 junction 26 and the A121 to the A10.

A13/M25 junction 30 Thurrock, Essex: major improvement

Work to reduce congestion and improve safety continues this week as part of a major scheme to widen the A13 and the M25 junction 30 roundabout and slip roads. On the M25, narrow lanes and a 50mph speed limit are in place, additional lane restrictions are in place on the M25 junction 30 roundabout. A free recovery service will operate 24 hours a day. There will be additional overnight lane and slip road closures as required. All closures will have a clearly signed diversion in place.

The eastbound A13 carriageway between Wennington (A1306) and North Stifford (A1012) will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 4 July for 5 nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A1306, M25 junction 31 and the A1012.

The westbound A13 carriageway between North Stifford (A1012) and Wennington (A1306) will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, on Monday 4 July and from Thursday 7 July for 2 nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A1012, A1306, M25 junction 31 and the A1306.

The westbound A13 carriageway between North Stifford (A1012) and M25 junction 30 will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, on Tuesday 5 July. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A1012, A1306 and M25 junction 31 to M25 junction 30.

A20 Swanley, Kent: electrical repair

Work to improve journeys by carrying out electrical repairs will start this week. The eastbound carriageway will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, on Thursday 7 July. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the exit and entry slip roads.

A282 junction 1a Swanscombe, Kent: maintenance work / resurfacing

Work to improve journeys at the Dartford Crossing by carrying out maintenance and resurfacing continues this week. The northbound anti-clockwise entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 9.30pm and 5.30am, from Friday 8 July for 2 nights. Work on Saturday will start at 9pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 2 and return.

The northbound anti-clockwise exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Thursday 7 July for 3 nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the Dartford Tunnel to junction 31 and return.

A282 junction 1b Dartford, Kent: resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by carrying out resurfacing will start this week. The northbound anti-clockwise entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Monday 4 July for 6 consecutive nights. Work on Friday will start at 11pm. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 2 and return.

A282 (M25) Dartford – Thurrock Crossing: maintenance

Work to improve journeys at the Dartford Crossing continues this week.

The following closures will be in place with a fully signed diversion for oversized vehicles for the northbound east tunnel closures:

  • Monday 4 July (9pm to 5.30am) northbound east tunnel
  • Friday 8 July (9.30pm to 5.30am) northbound west tunnel
  • Saturday 9 July (9pm to 5.30am) northbound west tunnel
  • Sunday 10 July 8.30pm to 5.30am) northbound east tunnel
